Hi! There were some weird things with the webchat a couple days ago, it may not have resolved for some people. An alternative right now are the following steps:
* Go to https://www.mibbit.com/
* Type "Solasmancers" in the search bar
* The chatroom should show up, click the green "connect" button
* Type in your desired nickname and click "go", wait for it to connect
Let me know if that works or not. If not, I'll find another way for people to connect.
EDIT: This alternative has worked for people! :)
> It's all just a bit too technical for most people to really get into.
So basically almost exactly like Bitcoin was in 2009? That's pretty much the state of the project right now:) For us to reach the state of maturity Bitcoin has will take another 3-5 years at least.
> I'm a developer but never got into IRC, and this just looks painful/waste-of-time, just to join a community. (I have no idea what a ZNC bouncer is, and why would I pay $5/month just to learn and use this old and "cryptic" technology?)
IRCCloud / ZNC is if you want to maintain a permanent connection online. 99% of users on IRC don't, so you can use everything from Mibbit, Freenode's own WebChat, or any one of thousands of IRC clients for your particular operating system. I'm quite partial to Textual on MacOS, and I know lots of Windows users quite like HexChat.
We also have a small, but burgeoning, Telegram group: http://telegram.me/bitmonero
The reason we don't use Slack, as an example, is because it's a serious privacy concern for those Monero developers who are privacy conscious, and it's simply not suited to communities. A small team working on an aspect of Monero's development can use whatever closed-source system they want, but IRC is the open platform we're using for Monero's real-time community.
Rizon is a server that allows us to use IRC (Internet Relay Chat) you can access it through https://www.mibbit.com/ What you do is you go this website, you press Launch Client, and then go to the drop down bar, select Rizon, make a Nick, and then type in the channel #redditulpas
Mai incearca o data. Unii oameni se plang de kiwiirc ca se conecteaza greu din cand in cand.
Alternativ poti folosi: https://www.mibbit.com/ (adresa serverului este: irc.snoonet.org)
Sau un alt client stand-alone.
Again, nickserv is a service on a network, and KiwiIRC is a client. Kiwi has nothing to do with nickserv, authserv, or any of those until you connect to a network. Most networks use NickServ, but GameSurge uses AuthServ. Therefore, no kind of NickServ command will help you connect.
If Kiwi is the issue, I found a few other clients you might want to try:
I hope you can get in soon!
Potentially: http://wiki.mibbit.com/index.php/Problem_Networks
You can also visit this page: https://www.mibbit.com/
At the very, very bottom they have Facebook, Twitter, and a Contact Us page: http://mibbit.com/contact.html
This was one of the only things I could find. ):
IRC clients are seperate applications although there are webclients like Mibbit (https://www.mibbit.com/), and cIRC (chrome extension).
Actually, this should work as well: http://webchat.esper.net/?channels=kspmodders , text input is at the bottom of the screen if you were trying that one before ;).
