When library.nu went away it also made me sad. Then i found gen.lib.rus.ec which is also now down. Then there was this!

Here's a quick list of ten choices similar to the site WhatShouldIReadNext.com, which is a pretty good resource. I'd also take a look at BookLamp for a slightly different approach.
I've got I2P as well as Robert client and I'm ready to share what I've got - say at Postman tracker. Hope it will be quicker as more peers turn up. It would be great of course to have a special eepsite (like gigapedia.i2p or lnu.i2p - to have it more specialized, but I'm not into IT, not the slitest). I think it is also worth uploading saved copies at www resourses similar (though worse for now) to library.nu http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/library.nu/Top_10_Sites_Like_library.nu/
> BioStars is a terrible Q&A platform (this really cannot be overstated), and in order to get a better one we need to pull users over.
I agree with you on this, but possibly not for the same reasons. I get a vibe of pretentiousness that puts me off posting on BioStars, don't like the benevolent dictatorial nature of the lead (?only) code developer, and notice that they have a very low answer rate for questions.
I've been thinking about other sites that serve a similar purpose of getting researchers to talk to each other:
I think it's good that different methods and communities exist for this. It may be that BioStars will find its own different identity after the Stack Exchange reshuffle; maybe there's a group of researchers out there who find it useful and would be willing to keep the embers alive after it has suffered a fiery death.
I don't think so. Most of the Forum websites have mods to control Spam.
Anyway check out this link And always remember the wise words, "Stop spam, Read books" ;-)
I cam across this - http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/www.astalavista.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Astalavista/ says site connection isn't secure though so be careful
https://www.greenbiz.com/ is a good place to start.
This website helps you find similar websites, so you can plug greenbiz or whatever else you find into it, to find even more resources.

Haven't found one yet, but I have a bookmark backlog to check.

Likewise, let me know if you find one yourself!
Here's a few of many: http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/www.mylife.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Mylife/ again, you have to go to each site individually and follow their instructions in order to get removed. Its a pain and a process but after a month or so you should be able to google yourself and not have it pop up.
Arent duck duck go results gotten from google? Either way I will try eventually. Currently going through this list: http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/www.conspiracyarchive.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Conspiracyarchive/?&page=1

About copies - if you're going to put your work ANYWHERE online I would highly suggest heavy watermarking that references your artist name and website (as long as you are SURE the website won't change). There's tooooons of copying online - if your work receives any reasonable attention there will be people trying to claim it as theirs.. You have to weigh the balance between actual loss for you vs some kid old being like "look what I made!!!" Is your work more of a novel concept that can easily be copied and exploited?
Thank you so much for taking time to try to sort this out for the community!
Have you tried some of those? http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/tinychat.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Tinychat/
Also, don't hesitate to create a thread about it.
I hit a spike of inspiration going through the fifthworldpics subreddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/FifthWorldPics/top/?sort=top&t=all) If you are looking for websites perhaps some of these will do: http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/dribbble.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Dribbble/ Sorry for the shitty spam portal but it seemed like a quick way to list them :)
gamasutra seems to be a good fit for what you want.
A quick search revealed this list of similar sites
edit: As for more about Carmack, I've heard that Masters of Doom is fascinating and doesn't skimp on the technical details. Might be worth checking out.
Yes it is more difficult but it is possible. Quantifying the differences is important. Kelly Blue Book is a good place to do this but there are others that you can USE.
You need to list titles at the least and ISBNs if you can for us to be able to find them.
Project gutenberg, the internet archive, and google books are your best bet for finding any book with an expired copyright. No luck? Then call the publisher to see if they even have an e-edition available.
Barring that, you need to check library.nu. Moreofit.com does have some other suggestions for continued hunting. Someone who cares might have made an e-edition of what you're looking for. After all, Harry Potter was only available typed by fans before it was ever authorized for electronic publishing.
From there, decide what your ethical level of comfort is. Then consider going to your library, getting an interlibrary loan of your books, and scanning/photographing them and putting them in your own format. Your other option is to widen your search to include IRC and private torrent trackers. You'll have to google those yourself, as now you're going to have to learn to use those methods in order to find them.
Moreofit is the first (and best) website similarity search engine. Give moreofit a website you're interested in, and it'll suggest to you alternative highly related and popular websites to explore.
It is pretty awesome.

Xavier Rudd is probably my favorite of the few artists I recommended. I really, really liked his White Moth album.
