Yeah, I stopped using the Twitch website. https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink for the stream (with https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net as the player, but you can use VLC or whatever) and https://github.com/SevenTV/chatterino7/ for chat.
I just don't understand why everybody is recommending pot player . Not using vlc and mpv 100% open source with an awesome community is stupidity . Just use vlc or get mpv (get mpv frontend like https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net if its too hard to use. )
you didn't waste my time and don't worry about not being able to do everything right now, mpv is a great media player and can be extended to great lengths but it's a little hard to get used to as it's doesn't have an easy way to configure.
you might want to give mpv.net a try tho, it's built on mpv base but without many pain points of vanilla mpv, regardless of what you might end up doing i wish you good luck.
I use mpv.net. It is a frontend for mpv. It also does not have a proper gui but right clicking anywhere on the window will open up a context menu. You can use that if you want a gui or you can fiddle around with the mpv.conf.
MPV is good enough but if you feel its not good on windows there are always alternatives like MPV.net which provide a more user friendly experience for windows users. MPV + GLSL Shaders is just <3
But yeah,I agree that MPC-BE+MadVR+VapourSynth Scripts is also really good
No, that is outdated.
https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net/issues/271#issuecomment-950348516
Current version of mpvnet (5600) has re-supported the property window-scale.
mpv also should not reproduce the issue u mentioned.
The Discord has premade config files.
Also you can just run it bog standart and it'll perform well either way.
There also are MPV players like mpv.net which are easier to use.
Yes, I am sure without a doubt that mpv.net does. See the mpv or mpv.net manual for more info. You just need to change it in the input.conf. For example, in mpv.net all those global hotkeys are set to pause. The solution is to, as I wrote before, change it in the mpv input configuration.
I use https://streamlink.github.io/ (with https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net, but you can use other players too) for the stream, https://chatterino.com/ for chat and avoid using the Twitch website at all.
Fuck the Twitch website. I switched to Streamlink + mpv.net for video and Chatterino for chat a while ago.
Hey! Yeah there was a time when K-Lite bundled some adware toolbar, not sure if they still do that. But the code itself is trustworthy. They've got tons of users and would quickly be discovered if they had any malware. So K-Lite is still the best way to install LAV Filters (and MPC if you want that player).
The non-system wide codecs option is nice too. It means that MPC contains its own codec files that don't inject themselves systemwide. Although the LAV Filters is a mature piece of software by now so I don't worry about installing those systemwide. It's all the other K-Lite crap that's bad, mostly the video thumbnailer which really slows down your computer if you browse folders with lots of videos and can even lead to Windows File Explorer crashes.
As for MPV, it's a brilliant player. I use the "original version", and even code scripts for it to add personal features to the player. But there are more user-friendly versions. For Windows I highly recommend the "mpv.net" version, here:
What mpv.net does is add a right-click context menu with quick options, and a config file editor so that you don't have to edit text manually.
The main pros of mpv/mpv.net are:
It's a superb player. Check it out. :-)
Hi!
Try declaring them in individual lines:
For example, let's say you installed mpv in C:\mpv and you copied the shaders in a subfolder called Shaders.
Then, you configure that mpv.config section as:
glsl-shader="C:\mpv\shaders\FSRCNNX_x2_16-0-4-1.glsl"
glsl-shader="C:\mpv\shaders\KrigBilateral.glsl"
glsl-shader="C:\mpv\shaders\SSimSuperRes.glsl"
glsl-shader="C:\mpv\shaders\SSimDownscaler.glsl"
And use the ones you wish according to your preferences, following the table in this page.
Or, you can try using mpv.net player which is the same mpv but with the addition of a basic GUI.
It depends on your actual mpv.config parameters. You should take a look at that.
Also, you could try using mpv.net player, which is mpv with GUI addition, very intuitive and easy to use (basically, it lets you change various parameters in your config file, including some brief explanations about them)
The less "tinkery" option is mpv.net which is a fork of the more barebone mpv with a better user experience, there are plenty of guides online and every option is well documented
The other option is MPC-HC unofficial build or MPC-BE using the madVR render and with LAV Filters, this requires a more complex setup and to be configured to your needs and based on your hardware but can yield amazing results, with the bonus of having a more complete user experience thanks to MPC, it also tends to be clunkyer than mpv. There are PLENTY of VERY VERY extensive and detailed guide for every madVR option as well on the internet
I like MPV but it's not newbie friendly. MPVdotNet is very handy with lots of useful presets. You can even download and try a portable version before you go installing it. https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net
MPV doesn't have a GUI basically. You need to launch it from command line with the url or drag & drop the localhost/alivestreamer url onto the MPV window. (Or use one of the builds with GUI, mpv.net is at least one for Windows.)
> I tried adding dst=:1111/alivestreamer to the Streamlink arguments box in LM, but then I get the "stream unavailable" error again.
Same thing here, since arguments are VLC arguments. Streamlink does not understand them.
Streamlink has something similar with --player-external-http --player-external-http-port 1111
but I'm not sure if that's compatible with Roku since it doesn't do any transcoding? AND it only accepts one connection, so you can't watch at the same on computer & Roku.
I think that SMP after configuring it a bit, is better. mpc-qt is dead at the moment.
I'm on Linux and SMP just looks and behaves better for the most part.
Also, somehow I've completely missed that you're on Windows, you should be using mpv.net prolly [ https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net ] It's currently best fronted under windows.
well, depends on what you mean by "will c++ be needed"?
most c# media players will wrap c/c++ libraries in some way, but you won't have to write any c/c++ code generally.
an example: https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net/blob/master/mpv.net/mpv/libmpv.cs
