I haven't taken a look, but you can fully customize firefox to operate however you would like using the about:config options.
If privacy is what you are after, I recommend using orfox along with orbot.

If there is anything else you want to know, feel free to ask.
Is there any reason why you're not going to just recommend they use Tor? There has been an enormous increase of Tor users from Turkey in recent weeks, and there are no signs that it is blocked in any way.
For mobile use, Orbot for Android is an excellent choice, as would be any paid VPN service for iOS.
Orbot is just the tor proxy I believe. Orfox is the associated, recommended tor browser for android. On mobile and lazy so no formatting, but here's related links: https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/

Didn't exactly scream Bitcoin at me. Perhaps its buried somewhere else?
mobiles are a problem atm. did you see that thread yesterday about phone companies logging everything? It shows their tracking our geographical data as well as our communications. The apps i listed are only measures to encrypt your VOIP communications.
I havn't really looked into how to get around the geo-tracking.. well, apart from just turning your mobile off. But then thats a pain in the ass obv for receiving calls. See... its hard to hide your location information and still be able to receive calls....
But ignoring geo-tracking and just keeping your conversations private. You can go satellite phone (but I heard this isn't 100% anymore...), BlackBerry's are actually pretty good for encryption and security also cheaper than a satellite phone.
You can also play with this one from the Tor project.
Letter to the editor: Praises article and teacher

I would like to thank the Index-Journal for featuring Simon Wilcox in the article titled "Taking it to the mat: Abbeville transplant teaches Krav Maga." Reading the article was enjoyable and it captured how kind, friendly and heartwarming Simon is.
I participate in Simon's Krav Maga program, and I feel the need to articulate to the editor and Index-Journal readers how enjoyable and empowering I am finding Simon's program to be. Our local area has had an alarming rise in violent crimes that concerns me deeply. Training under Simon's guidance is arming me with advanced tactics and strategies to defend myself, challenging me to become mentally and physically stronger, and providing me with the opportunity to meet and train with a diverse, yet like-minded group of participants in a safe learning environment.
I am grateful for the opportunity to study Krav Maga under Simon's guidance, look forward to witnessing Simon enjoy success with his program that far exceeds his expectations, and want to encourage Index-Journal readers to join our class and see for themselves how Simon's Krav Maga program is empowering people with the ability to confidently defend themselves, should the need arise.

There may be a way to do it, but I'm not sure. You can do it on an Android phone with Orbot:

I personally would not run Tor on a cellphone, because cellphones are not secure computing platforms. There are typically two processors in in a cellphone. One runs the GUI that you interact with and the other runs the radio back end and is known as the baseband processor. The baseband processor has priority over the other processor and allows the cellular company (or a fake cellphone base station run by the FBI / local police) to take control of the phone. It's a backdoor that is built into all cellphones as far as I know.

If you do decide to try and run Tor on an iPhone, be aware that there was a spyware / adware fake version in the IOS store that you do not want to use:
I can leave Orbot connected to tor all day with no noticeable battery drain. The 4g speed isn't slowed down by it being up. With regards to security it probably isn't as great as the full tor bundle but it is the only app for android that will let you connect to tor. I usually just browse the silkroad forums with it. More info here https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/
Orbot is an application that allows mobile phone users to access the web, instant messaging and email without being monitored or blocked by their mobile internet service provider.
For the last few days I have not been able to access my calendar and email on mobile due to this. I have been using Tutanota with Orbot on my phone for more than a year so far and it is only now not working. I download and update Tutanota from F-Droid so maybe it is just outdated due to the slower releases for F-Droid. Also maybe Tutanota is blocking Tor due to DDoS attacks over the Tor Network?
Yup, Orbot is one of the official ways of running Tor on your Android device (see the Tor documentation and The Guardian Project). Orbot may act up a little, though, and that's why I prefer using the Tor Browser if I don't need full, device-wide Tor.
This is only a way to bypass censorship using DNS resolver. Not a proxy. So, it should let you use the website, as usual.
If the DNS based circumvention doesn't work, try any of the trusted VPN providers https://protonvpn.com (Swiss jurisdiction, generous free tier), https://lantern.io (mostly free, US jurisdiction), https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot (always free, no jurisdiction).
DNS based circumvention is superior in terms of speed and latency. VPN is superior in terms of hiding all traffic from your ISPs but the speed and privacy is at the mercy of the VPN provider.
Thanks. I forgot there was more to Orbot than just Orfox.
" Orbot is a free proxy app that empowers other apps to use the internet more securely. "
• Not a VPN, but Orbot can route specific apps traffic through Tor. Just enable the "VPN mode".
• I think [AFWall+](https://f-droid.org/app/dev.ukanth.ufirewall can do this, just enable VPN control under *Preferences > Rules/connectivity. Requires root.
And I'd not use "free VPN", they just sell your data. Specifically don't use Hola VPN: https://twitter.com/j_opdenakker/status/1075044420737818625
https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Tunnels/Introduction
It doesn't break, just requires more configuration as well as a reduction in anonymity for the sake of privacy.
As far as android, there is no custom rom dedicated to only using tor, yet. Orbot and Orfox apps combined, when downloaded from the fdroid main repository or the guardianproject is the best implementation for browsing privacy. https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/ Details, links and instructions here. For torified anonymous communication, I recommend Briar if you want to be ultrasafe.
I don't know what could be crashing it, the logs aren't really very verbose as to what's happening. Maybe try reporting it by emailing them at or on their IRC. You can find this at the bottom of this page.
I should note I've also noticed an issue where my phone reports that most Wifi access points have no internet connectivity, but if I enable Orbot I'm able to access the Internet just fine.
You can use OrBot to get TOR access through your phone.
https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/
There's a direct APK download there for the fastest results, but also F-Droid and the Play Store.
Also beware of embedded EXIF data in your images or video, especially if they were taken with your phone. Scrub before uploading, or if not possible, use a photo/video hosting service that will do that for you.
Stay safe.
I kinda experimented with this a while back so my memory is a little foggy. I am rooted and my last few phones have been rooted so I don't remember if that was necessary. I did download Orbot and was able to get the twitter app to run through Orbot. I had to go into the app settings and change something to 8.8.8.8 or something like that. I don't have the Twitter app on my current phone so I can't really go into the app to see what I changed.
This should help https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/
> Orbot is a free proxy app that empowers other apps to use the internet more securely. Orbot uses Tor to encrypt your Internet traffic and then hides it by bouncing through a series of computers around the world. Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis. https://guardianproject.info/apps/orbot/
> Tor on devices
On Android there's Orbot. To make things easy there is also the related Orbweb browser, or else use the PROXYMOB addon for firefox.
cool. thanks.
there is Tor's Orbot as well.
