...what? i don't know what to say, for me especially music players are where the linux 'ecosystem' really shines, there are so many of them. i guess tastes/opinions really differ...
https://sayonara-player.com/ maybe try this? i've heard that modern people like it...
I haven't used it (yet!), but Sayonara claims to have multiple libary support OOTB:
> With the multi library feature you can manage multiple directories as stand-alone libraries and copy and move tracks from one to another.
There is an awesome person who has a step by step guide on their website:
https://sayonara-player.com/guitarpro.php
The guide has been done for mint 19 but also works on mint 20 adding some packages. GP6 is installed and it runs fine. The problem with libqtgui4 comes when I try to install the soundbanks:
$ sudo /opt/GuitarPro6/GPBankInstaller Banks-r370.gpbank /opt/GuitarPro6 /opt/GuitarPro6/GPBankInstaller: error while loading shared libraries: libQtGui.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Maybe look at Sayonara, it reads ratings out of the box. It is in AUR repo, so you can install it in couple of clicks from pamac (that's actually first AUR app that I installed in manjaro)
Sayonara Player has album and genre views. Plus a lot more.
I use right click and add album to playlist to play the album. I don't know if it will start playing the rest of the play list if we stop in between and play another song. I had to change the default pulseaudio output to 48000Hz to get better audio quality out of this player though. In 41000Hz the music feels low quality like hearing from a radio.
Maybe Sayonara Player?
I don't know if you can change the colours, but you can change the size to make it look like ColorFlow. Kind of...
There's some screenshots on the bottom of the page.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely check them out, though I did just stumble across Sayonara Player (https://sayonara-player.com/index.php), and it appears to be exactly what I was looking for.
As mentioned, VLC is a tried and true, powerful media player. If you were referring to music, and want a simple-yet-powerful player without excessive plug-ins, radio stations, and third party connections you could try Sayonara. I've used it for years, and although it could use a little polish, it does what I need without all the bells and whistles.
I faced a similar issue got things done on my system and now everything works. I wrote a little Howto here:

I hope this will solve the issue for you
