Anyone else have caught wind of this project?
It seems to aim to replace Rainmeter and wallpaper engine. I'm particularly looking forward to learn the HTML components of it because for the life of me I can't learn Rainmeter's script.
I Just wanted to share this for anyone who's interested to support the Dev because the community is quite minuscule at the moment.

You can still use qmake, but you shouldn't. Qmake is plagued with awful design chooses like awful dependency setup, easy to misuse ( just google CONFIG = Ordered). I wrote a blog post about it here https://screen-play.app/blog/qmake_to_cmake/

Developer here. Thanks, :D I'm happy to answer your questions. ScreenPlay itself is written in C++ and QML for the UI. The same language is used for Widgets and Wallpaper. This is a mix of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and can be learned in less than 30 minutes, no prior programming skills needed. I have written a blog post about this if you are interested: https://screen-play.app/blog/guide_learn_the_basics_of_qml/
Also, I'm working on the mac version that will see the first release next week. Linux will be next after some more polishing. The idea here is that ScreenPlay is a full platfform independent Wallpaper Engine (Windows only) and Rainmeter (Windows only) alternative.
> I just have to use the webassembly plugin, right?
Be aware that the webassembly plugin is GPL only so your app has to be as well.
> Just some simple visualization/graphing apps.
IMHO there are way better (in terms of features) JS libraries for visualization than Qt has to offer.
> I've heard that Electron is "bulky and slow", but VSCode seems fast. Even SpaceX dragon capsule uses Electron for its UI! But logically, it seems like a native app should be better than a web app?
You can write bad (UI) code in javascript, c++ or in QML. It always depends on how you write your code.

Some reason I chose Qt over electron for ScreenPlay :
Can you make ScreenPlay version? That would be great. Also, if it's Spine, Can this be done programmatically without playing video? In some cases video play may be heavier than 2D rendering
Shameless self promotion: ScreenPlay is an open source cross plattform app for displaying Wallpaper, Widgets. It is written in modern C++17/Qt5/QML.
It is currently in open Alpha on Steam and I'm in dire need of tester (free Steam key of course). If you are interested you can get a key here:
