Hello /r/WebGames o/
I'm the creator of splix.io and I'm looking for some feedback. I already tested the game with some of my twitter followers so it should be pretty stable now but I wanted to see what other users thought of it.
The game is pretty much like xonix or qix but it's a multiplayer version.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know :D
I disagree. Source: I suck balls at Splix.io, a soundless multiplayer game and still get angry at it despite the lack of sound- especially when the game spawns another player inside of me, and manages to kill me.
That sounds like connection lag. Fps lag is when your entire screen starts stuttering. This can be annoying if your framerate is very low but shouldn't make it impossible to play the game. Connection lag is what you described, players teleporting and areas filling way too late.
Could you tell me what ping you have? If you go to http://splix.io/flags and check the first checkbox, you'll see red text in the bottom right of your screen while playing. Could you play the game for a while and then tell me what the text says?
Alright I've sort of fixed this. The reason behind this was because your computer displays the player a couple of blocks ahead of what it actually is. Depending on how good your connection with the server is.
So what I've done right now, basically when you have a slow connection, your player corrects itself so it's properly aligned with the position the server thinks you're at. The downside is that you move slower when you have a high ping. The upside is that it feels more fair when you get killed before you reach your own land.
To get a bit of an idea of what this update does, you can go to http://splix.io/flags and toggle the 'Show actual player pos' and 'Dont slow down the player with high ping' flags. You'll notice that your land only gets filled after the red dot reaches it, not your own dot. If you leave the 'Don't slow down the player with high ping' turned off, you'll notice that your actual player slows down until its properly aligned with the red dot.
I hope that helps, if there's anything else that feels wrong feel free to let me know :)
Hmh, I think the reason for this is because you are still having lag, just not seeing it. So on your screen it looks like you're in your own land, but the server (and the other user) sees you're not. Could you tell me what ping you usually have when this happens? If you go to http://splix.io/flags and check the checkbox, a red number will appear in the bottom right corner while playing. That's your ping.
Sorry for the late response. Thanks for pledging!
If you go to http://splix.io/#pledged you'll get a pop up with a log in button. Once you're logged in you should be able to choose the patreon pattern from the pattern menu. You'll have to click the share buttons in the bottom left first, but you don't have to actually share anything. Just clicking the buttons is enough.
hmm, around that time is usually when the least amount of players are online on the splix servers. Could you check the checkbox at the top on this page and tell me if there's a significant difference between your ping at midnight and during day?
ok wow yeah that is really weird. At first I thought you weren't able to connect to the server at all, but it seems like the scoreboard and everything seems to be working just fine. Are you able to see the transition when you start a game? Maybe it's because of an extension, what happens if you open splix.io in an incognito window? Also, have you tried other browsers?
