Vor ein paar Tagen bin ich auf Magine TV gestoßen: https://magine.com/
Keine Ahnung wie seriös die sind, aber es funktioniert und sie bieten alle öffentlich-rechtlichen und privaten Sender an.
Alterantiv gibts schon seit längerem Zattoo (http://zattoo.com/de/), dort kosten die privaten Sender allerdings was.
The ZDF Mediathek contains shows with subtitles. Also, you may want to check out the arte TV station which sometimes has German shows or movies which are also subtitled. Swiss TV stations put subtitles on some movies, but only when the German spoken in the movie is some dialect.
On Zattoo you can watch many German TV stations online.
You can watch German television through Zattoo. However, you will need to setup a German proxy or VPN first to be able to view the German channels from outside Germany.
Also, you can view a lot of content on the homepages of the various German networks. Both Das Erste as well as the ZDF have so-called Mediathek(en) where many shows and movies can be watched online. In general, "Mediathek" is the term to search for on Google.
Livestreams: zattoo.com/view#zdf and zdf.de/ZDFmediathek
(EDIT: I should add that boths streams mentioned are viewable in Germany only, maybe Austria as well. For other streams, click here.)
Game starts at 8pm CET.
There is this handy list of all their "Mediatheken": http://www.tv-mediatheken.de/oeffentlich-rechtlich/ which are basically an archive of all their stuff from the past seven days. Anything that is older than 7 days and NOT news-related will be gone by then (which they sometimes bypass). This is true for all the public stations, like ARD and ZDF, as well as the smaller local public stations like BR, HR, MDR etc. [fun fact: This is not their decision, but they are required by law to do that. The private companies don't enjoy competing against free content. Which seems understandable.]
The private channels also mostly use "Mediatheken" now, though their archives are even more ad-riddled than their on-air shows.
Most of these broadcasters have an online live stream, but you can just tune in into "Zattoo" (http://zattoo.com/). It is a repository of most live-streaming channels. Absolutely legal and free. Just register and login. HD quality and the private channels cost money, though.
My VPN was blocked for a while, but it got sorted. Also, going to Switzerland and signing up for a (FREE) site http://zattoo.com/ lets you watch 30 free hours of TV a month, including live BBC and Channel 4 broadcasts.
For some more German TV streams, check zattoo.com (may or may not work depending on where in the world you are).
Next to Deutschlandfunk there is DRradio Wissen and Deutschlandradio Kultur on the same website. And if you don't mind commercial breaks and screaming hosts, check Einslive.
Playing video games in German is a good idea, but as a native speaker I have to say the translations are pretty bad in general and often too literal. That's the reason I play my games in English.
> Da fallen mir nur Zattoo und Magine ein, aber die kosten beide afaik monatlich.
Zattoo hat auch (nach eigener Zählung) 76 Sender im kostenlosen Angebot, das sind aber im Prinzip die ÖR und ein paar drittklassige Private wie Tele5.
Cool, thanks. My tv broke some time ago but I found this http://zattoo.com/watch/eurosport and the stream seems to be alright. Had to register though and don't know if its available outside of germany.
If you can manage to get a German IP (VPN for instance if you are outside Germany), http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/live/2185202/Jetzt-Deutschland---Algerien-live?bc=sts;stt or http://zattoo.com/de/ stream in decent quality.
You basically just need to register here. It's free. After the registration you simply have to choose "Germany" as Country and the TV-Station transmitting the SuperBowl is: "ARD DasErste". Have fun!
