Alas, Munich is definitively not the best place for stargazing. I would suggest going to the Ammersee.
Some useful tools:
For your next visit, maybe install this app:
It let's you buy a ticket ahead of time, so you don't need to bother with the machines when you've landed. And you pay with your credit card, so no worries about running out of Euros. Just make sure your phone still has some charge left so you can show the ticket ...
if you are comfortable with a couch and a big floor, you are welcome anytime. :)
info: i live in this rea so if you plan to go to the oktoberfest you have a short way to your bags ;)
edit: seriously, i work till 7pm on friday, after that you can crash in. but chances are very high that i will be out on friday evening and (hopefulkly) whole sunday - yeah oktoberfest - so if you are serious we need to check out some details. PM me latest Thursday if you want to take my offer.
I used to live right on the Ammersee, it's definitely something to check out:
Here's a 3-day guide from TripAdvisor. From there, I'd absolutely recommend BMW Museum and BMW Welt (Olympiapark is also right across the street) and a stroll around the Englischer Garten and a beer in one of the biergartens there. It's not on the list, but Schloss Nymphenburg is in town and very pretty. I'd also recommend a walk through Viktualienmarkt/Marienplatz/Karlsplatz. Enjoy your trip!
edit: spelling
Aldecka (Alde + Edeka) as I call it. It's at Alteheide. Just a short ride on the U-bahn. Also there's convenient drink markets under the orange house, blue house and near the big 20 story one with the BMW logo (there could be more). Great place to pick up a case (20 beers) to start a small get together.
Internet connection is awesome. Try to get hooked up to the "apex" server, I got loads of movies. It's a little tricky to start, but everyone in the complex can help you Im sure.
StuSta really has enough to do. The englischer garten is right there. There are plenty of people playing pick up soccer and volleyball. You'll see slack lining in the main area from time to time. www.studentenimschnee.de has a pick up point at StuSta. There's pretty much announced parties every day of the weekend because Studentenwerk gives an allotted money to each floor and also each house of every building that the students essentially use to purchase alcohol. Also here's my living in Munich guide
Edit: there are also organized games by house in the multi use room by the Tribühne restaurant. The restaurant is a great place to watch different sporting events. Some of the organized games are open to the public though. Most of the games are soccer. If you want/need a gym, McFit on Frankfurterring would be your best option. They usually require a year long contract but if you prove your leaving the country they will let you out of it no problem. It's around a 10 minute run/bike ride from StuSta. In my opinion ZHS kind of sucks for workout equipment and out of the way.
I've only lived here a year, so I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps a little.
I'd definitely suggest getting a IsarCard for the week, probably run you a little under 20 euro for the week, the airport is further out (more tariff rings), so I'm not sure if it's cheaper to get a weekly card for all the rings, or get separate tickets just for the airport. If you can't figure it out on the website, let me know and I'll take a look for the detailed prices.
There are "night line" buses, it looks like you could take the N19 from Hermann-Lingg-Strasse (near the Hackerbrücke station) to the Pasing train station and then the N81 would head out to Gröbenzell from there.
As far as other suggestions, here' a quick one: if you want to have amazing food and beer in a slightly calmer locale, try the Andechs Monastery.
One of my favorites is Augustiner Bräustuben. The food is great and obviously the beer is awesome. On weekday mornings you can order the Schinken mit Ei with a liter of their helles - the best way to start your day! Though the staff is very friendly, I've never come across anyone there that really speaks english.
You can also take the Herrsching S-Bahn and a nice walk up to Kloster Andechs. They have a great beer garden with fabulous views!
There is this handy list of all their "Mediatheken": http://www.tv-mediatheken.de/oeffentlich-rechtlich/ which are basically an archive of all their stuff from the past seven days. Anything that is older than 7 days and NOT news-related will be gone by then (which they sometimes bypass). This is true for all the public stations, like ARD and ZDF, as well as the smaller local public stations like BR, HR, MDR etc. [fun fact: This is not their decision, but they are required by law to do that. The private companies don't enjoy competing against free content. Which seems understandable.]
The private channels also mostly use "Mediatheken" now, though their archives are even more ad-riddled than their on-air shows.
Most of these broadcasters have an online live stream, but you can just tune in into "Zattoo" (http://zattoo.com/). It is a repository of most live-streaming channels. Absolutely legal and free. Just register and login. HD quality and the private channels cost money, though.
I recommend downloading the katwarn app. You'll get information about coming storms (and of course other dangerous events):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.combirisk.katwarn
Don't have the link for apple though.
Foodwise Lindwurmstüberl might be a good start. Moderate prices, not completely packed and they're really quick.
Probably you can still find a hostel if you're not giving too much about comfort accomodation wise. Fingers crossed for sure.
I'd take the train somewhere south towards the mountains or Austria/Salzburg. Have a look in this thread, that'll give some real nice options for a day trip!
Kloster Andechs would be a nice trip. Take the S-Bahn to Hersching (Ammersee) and hike through the forest up to the mountain and enjoy the beergarden there. Coming back from to Hersching you could take the ferry over to the other side of the lake and take the train back to Munich.

I haven't been yet, but the reviews for Exit the Room on Yelp and TripAdvisor are good.
No idea either. I've only seen the inside of the airport.
Regardless, this is decision that will bring a different answer for every person asking, because it is based upon what you find important or interesting (your personal value set). Best bet is to find out what the city has to offer and decide if its worth it to you or not:
The Novotel Muenchen City is said to be nice -- our company seems to book this quite frequently for business visitors and I've only heard positive feedback so far.
And regarding 'safe and decent' --- that applies to 98% of Munich ... bordering to 'boring'. ;-)
Edit: Tripadvisor link
My parents stayed at the Admiral last time they visited and absolutely loved it. Near to Isartor station, so easy access to just about anywhere. Also, quiet (but safe) street and just down the road from the Deutsches Museum, which is a good place to take kids who are interested in science and technology.
You really narrow the location down... West coast of France is tiny. Why not walk from Paris. That, or give us a better location.
or scrounge around the extra €22 to catch a bus.
You can download the Munich transit app, it is called MVG Fahrinfo.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.swm.mvgfahrinfo.muenchen&hl=en
The S-Bahns come every 20 minutes during the day, so you can use the app to plan your times. It is available in English. It is usually updated with delay information, so sometimes better than Google maps in that respect. Note there are two lines, the S1 and S8 which both go to the airport.
OK it seems there is a stop near your hotel which several buses are going to. Unfortunately you are a bit too far to walk from any S-Bahn station (you can walk to Erding in about an hour but you probably don't want to.) Also the buses are not running very late, only until 10:30 pm or so. With the bus, the trip is up to 1:30 long. I would say the least complicated option would be to ride the S1 or S8 from Hackerbrucke to the airport. (they run every 20-30 minutes all night long) Then take a taxi or Uber from the airport to your hotel which is about 15 min and you are guaranteed to find a taxi at the airport which will be impossible around the fest anyway.
In the morning to reach the fest, have the hotel call you a taxi and go to the Erding station (S2 line) because it is a bit closer. All the S-Bahns go to Hackerbrucke where you can walk to the fest like I said before. Splitting a short taxi ride between several people shouldn't be too bad. You would also need the "whole network" group day ticket for MVV, (it is the most expensive ticket because the airport is a bit far from the city) also it covers every bus/train/tram within the system and up to 5 people can share a day ticket for €23.50 (you have to stick together in this case, but if you lose someone no problem they can buy a single ticket for €12.40)
Check out the ticket prices here
http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/tickets-fares/tickets/day-tickets/group-day-ticket/index.html
Also I found all this using the app "MVG Fahrinfo" which I highly recommend you to download and use during your trip, it is usually better than Google Maps for transit connections. Language can be changed to English in the settings.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.swm.mvgfahrinfo.muenchen&hl=en
PS, you might want to edit your post and remove your address just for safety so everyone on Reddit can't see it :)
This book might be helpful I read it a few years back
I don't have any specifics, as I don't know your German level, But! Checkout meetup.com They have plenty of groups for language practice, and most identify by a CEFR level that would be appropriate for attendees. This is super helpful because let's be honest, mixing A1s with C1s wouldn't really have much of an incentive for the C1s other than for raw altruism.
German book clubs are also great if you can handle it.
However, tbh, if you are A0 then you would be better at a class than at a meetup. Learning by raw immersion IMO is a bit of a lie. You need a solid foundation to build off of and it's hard to get that on the streets. You'll find it much faster to do a dedicated A1 course and then start going to meetups than to show up raw.
I tried to mix the advice for different skill levels, as you didn't mention what you are, so hopefully something was helpful.
Maybe you can try to buy something like in the link to lock your door. Good luck and stay safe

Basically swimming like a doggy^^ You can find footage of people doing this on YouTube. It's how I instinctively learned to swim as a kid.
Never use torrents for downloading anything, they can be easily tracked.
Get a get VPN (I recommend Mullvad), plus a seedbox if you really want to download from torrents. Otherwise stick to direct downloads.
For more information head over to /r/Piracy. They have some helpful tips.
I picked NordVPN not because I personally use it, but because of the advertisement meme. I just checked by the way, nord claims to have a strict zero-log policy, plus privacytools still recommends them, so I guess the claim hasn't been disproven.
Just don't ever use a free VPN, the are collecting and selling all of your data, 100%.
If you use your normal internet connection for torrents, everyone will be able to see your IP address. Law firms will then ask your ISP for your name and address, then they'll extort you for a bunch of money. Never torrent in Germany, I've heard of many international students that had to learn the hard way.
By the way, have you heard of our sponsor NordVPN? It encrypts the internet traffic between your pc and the vpn server you are connected to, so your ISP won't know what you are doing! Great invention, much success.
So anyway, don't torrent in Germany
I recently ordered svenskjavlar by haupt lakrits from Amazon and they're the saltiest salt liquorice I've ever tried, check em out if you want but they're pricy af https://www.amazon.de/Haupt-Lakrits-Svenskj%C3%A4vlar-extrem-salzig/dp/B08L9HNVRD/
They're so salty they they genuinely feel like they burn your tongue and I love em
An alternative Option, although it requires much more technical know-how, is setting up a VPN on your Router. You could use something like NordVPN, they have good setup guides and it would be much cheaper long-term + some more features. Downside is it may be unstable or require changes in the future, which without technical know-how may be frustrating.
you can even get authentic clothes on Amazon in the US these days: https://www.amazon.com/BAVARIA-TRACHTEN-Lederhosen-Short-Brown/dp/B082Y5QLQ8?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 real lederhosen made from genuine leather can be heavy though..
If you want to meet new friends and have fun in Munich during your leasure time, then download the app of International Friends! Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.internationalfriendscomplete.android iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/international-friends/id1105135481
This is the best non-split air conditioner and the quietest mobile AC out there. I have it and am super satisfied with it. It's even bearable to sleep in the same room with it:

Is it cold in your flat? Try opening the windows for 5 min every morning and evening and in between keep the room temperature up.
I cycled past the training area on a path above it a few times, there are regularly may people with big lenses there watching from that fence.
You can see into the training fields from here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/171418694 though I don't think they take selfies there, it seems more like paparazzi there.
There is another Isardücker near the Zoo, which brings part of the Isarwerkkanal under the Isar, which then turns into the Auer Mühlbach. See here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/62144016
The direct connection from the isar to the auer mühlbach is usually closed.
I can't find a phone number directly to the shop, BUT on their Facebook wall they have this:
>Wir suchen für unser Dirndl-Geschäft am Flughafen in MÜNCHEN vom 10.Sept-10.Okt noch zwei Madels als Aushilfe (Mo-So. 10-20 Uhr)
Which is basically asking for 2 female employees to work at the store Monday-Sunday 10am-8pm, which makes me feel pretty confident that they are open today until 8pm!
Hope you get your Tracht - and have fun at the 'fest tomorrow! :)

We use this filter for about a year now.
We tested the water with a test kit from the pharmacy and the water was still hard, but something was filtered out that caused by skin conditions to significantly improve.
I have really dry skin issues so I figured I might just try it won’t hurt. I think these do help a bit. At least when changing once every 6 months, the filter is full of scale, and I like the fact that I can change the filter regularly therefore. But of course comparing to a Brita filter for drinking water, the volume of water is much higher so don’t expect pristine water.

I'm not completely sure, but I also think glockenbachviertel would be an area worth checking out. But you might find more specific tips on Wikitravel. Enjoy your time in Munich!

I don't know the state of vaccination in Brazil, so I'm just gonna throw it out there, for Munich it is currently very helpful to have an approved vaccine. You otherwise you need a test just for public transport. Restaurants are only 2g I believe. Changes regularly. In Germany the corona warn app is used for verification and information https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.rki.coronawarnapp.
Not trying to start a fight about how right or wrong the laws are, just stating facts.
So the person I got the test I did from says she doesn’t know the name of tests anymore, but probably got them at Aldi. Also a link to another spit based test based on a short Amazon search. Sadly tests are fairly expensive atm (4,79€/piece)
I would think so. There may be a change of track ( gleis ) number, but the monitors keep you informed. The only item I'm not sure is how/who you provide the thru ticket since you are staring in Germany - through Austria & into Slovenia. However, everyday I find information on the web to answer all my questions: https://www.thetrainline.com/en/train-times/munchen-hbf-to-lesce-bled .
Plan your best times - have a 'next train' plan ready in case you run into any problems & enjoy.
cheers! dan
Bring warm clothes (a good jacket, good boots, long trousers). This year might be treacherous regarding the winter.
April can mean hot temperatures, light rain or heavy snowfall. Shit's crazy, yo.
Classic route is from schliersee to tegernsee https://www.outdooractive.com/en/hiking-trail/tegernsee-schliersee/vom-schliersee-zum-tegernsee/104724203/
you can take the train to schliersee and then back from tegernsee to munich.
Beer & co can be drunk in the "tegernseebrauhaus". Take a bathing suit with you and take a nice swim there.

Dein Backend/API würde ja eh schon stehen.
You could try this, it`s a group on XING where englishspeaking people meet up for a drink or a movie or something. They are more or less from everywhere around the world.
A friend of mine is doing a study about an Augmented Reality App for his Bachelor thesis at LMU. The study is located at Englischer Garten, but begins at the LMU mainbuilding (LMU Hauptgebäude). Hallo!

This might be of interest Guide to German Property
When i want to look for a connection i'll use the öffi app, it's very neat and can show all the different german rail, bus and tram networks.
Unlike the official apps, it's able to find a route even when the last sbahn (for example) is already out of scope.
It also has a neat interface, and it's free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.oeffi&hl=de&gl=US
The MVV app is ok for purchasing tickets, but it's not 100% reliable which can suck a lot if you don't carry cash (or a ticket) at all, so i don't really recommend it.
As for the website, i'll just leave this quote here:
"Das Internet ist für uns alle Neuland" Angela Merkel (2013)
Thanks :-)
I am also on SVDSL 250. Tried Google and Cloudflare as DNS. Both are better for Reddit than the Telekom DNS.
Do you have any recommendations for VPNs that you are using and that play well with Telekom? I tried several (ExitLag, NordVPN, ExpressVPN) and none of them made a difference
We have this one and change it every 6 months. Mostly so it’s easier to clean. Maybe it’s worth a try. 4 years? Geez basically straight from the shops. Why don't you go and buy some Maggie if you can't find Marmite? Something like this: https://www.amazon.de/Maggi-MAGGI-W%C3%BCrze-1000g/dp/B003TRGLPE?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace
I know it is not comparable. However it beats a trip to Aus incl quarantine...
I ordered nutritional yeast on Amazon. (this is not an affiliate link and I get nothing if you buy using it) Definitely haven't seen Liquid Smoke anywhere locally, but it's another one you can easily pick up on Amazon.
Just use the MVV app on your phone. You can choose your current location and destination, then the app tells you the price and you can directly buy from it. Very useful if you don't know which ticket you have to buy for zones.
Also the streaming services are getting better about detecting use of VPNs. I have ExpressVPN and every 6-12 months need to change city settings as the streamers get wise.
Regarding a US credit card (I have one) but have also found they are only really interested in a zip (postal) code. So I just enter my normal street address and look up the US city state to match my current postal code and it almost always works. Thank you to the good people of Arapahoe, CO 80802.
Is there a reason you can't use Amazon?
I've never had a Lattesso, but I assume the biscuit is what Germans call "amarettini". I checked the Italian wikipedia and it seems they just call it "amaretto" (pl. amaretti) after the almond liquor they're made with. ("Amaro" means "bitter").
So I went on Amazon and found this:
https://www.amazon.com/Amaretti-Cookie-Snaps-Lazzaroni-ounce/dp/B002CTGQOQ?th=1
Hope this helps :-)
Edit: apparently, they're not made with almond liquor but with almond paste.
Wow. You may be the first person to nail the public transportation planning in Munich on their first attempt. You _could_ buy an extension ticket for your three day pass to ride to the airport. You will need the App by MVG, add Rings 1-4 as your "monthly" ticket and then buy through the app.
I do think that's a little overboard for saving 3€, nevertheless I'd recommend getting the app. (iOS or Android). All tickets you described can be bought via the app. Add your credit card beforehand and easily obtain the ticket through your phone. The machines can be out of service, confusing or crowded with confused tourists.
We have lots of tourists in Munich, many of whom speak no German. So I think you'll be fine for everyday things. For public transport you can install the MVG app, and see how you would find your way:
https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/mvg-fahrinfo-münchen/id343701044
Quick update, it won't work at local transit ticket machines (DB, mvv). You will have to use cash there. Install Oeffi or the mvv app to check prices and connections. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.oeffi https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdv.companion
Maybe get the MVG app, it will tell you exactly what a given route costs, you can buy the ticket via the app, too:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.swm.mvgfahrinfo.muenchen
(There should be an equivalent app on itunes, too.)
