The greatest of karma seekers use programs like ZScreen. With ZScreen, you're able to capture your screen and it will automatically upload to your image hoster of choice (imgur).
Speaking of puu.sh, ZScreen definitely needs a mention.
It changed my life. It's pretty much like puu.sh when it comes to screenshots, but has far more settings and let's you upload to any host you want. It also allows for uploading text, files and has other tools like an onscreen color picker, and full history support for all the stuff you upload.
Not to bash on puu.sh, as it's actually created by someone I've worked with, but I'd rather rely on bigger hosting sites like imgur and pastebin that will be there for a long time than on a smaller non-stable site like puu.sh for my files. Also being able to choose between dozens of different hosts or using my own ftp is definitely great.
Here's a vote for ZScreen. It's free-as-in-beer, but why not throw a few dollars their way to keep the project running?

Commercial: SnagIt is just awesome, but not free
There already is a program for multiple online image hosts including imgur that does this. Its called zScreen and its pretty awesome, been using it for a while now.
I downloaded the source code and saw this in the readme:
> Neox Screen Source Code
>
> This is our latest source code project we use to build Neox Screen.
> Please keep in my this files are based on ZScreen/ZUploader which can be accessed at this link: http://code.google.com/p/zscreen/
I highly recommend ShareXMod for screenshots, which has derived from ZScreen and ZUploader (no longer developed). * Supports automatically uploading screenshots taken to file sharing websites, image hosting sites (with account support), and FTP servers. * Allows removing the underlying background behind window borders, which means transparent borders and shadows in Vista and 7 if you use the PNG format. * Supports an extra keyboard shortcut to let you select a part of the screen with the mouse, and only capture that part (and not just rectangles). * Has some useful command-line options * Custom auto-cropping and filtering support.
Awesome screen shot software! My configuration is Ctrl-Alt-C to bring up cross hair to select part of screen, which is then uploaded to imgur, with the resulting url stuffed into the clipboard.
All I have to say on this topic is that ragebuilder is a good tool to make meme.
If you don't want cheezburger to take your rage comic, avoid submiting them, build the comic with their tool and use something like Zscreen to take a cropped screen shot of your Comic.
Make it so it auto uploads it to imgur.com then it adds the url in your clipboard so you can paste it in the reddit link section when posting the image.
And best of all is probably ZScreen, which allows you to take cropped, partial or whole screenshots and automatically upload them to a number of image sharing sites e.g. imgur.com. As a bonus, when the image is uploaded it's added to your copy/paste buffer, so that you can share it with whomever you want. ZScreen can also upload files and text in the same manner, it's pretty neat.
I already found another program that does it much better, and supports imgur too - and seeing as you don't need a subscription to imgur and have infinite space, I am going to use ZScreen instead.
