Hard pass. I'll be sticking with my $40 a year NewsgroupDirect account that has 3,725 days of retention, 1 Gbps achievable speeds, unlimited bandwidth usage allowed with servers in the US, NL, and DE, an included subscription to GhostPath VPN, and posting allowed.
Your services are very overpriced.
Which is an absolutely ridiculous policy in this case. We are trying to get as much info out publicly about this scammer. An IP address (which only points to a GhostPath VPN, and not any real identifiable info) in this case identified and doxed nothing.
I understand the no-dox policy, but in cases like this where a.) the info is related to a scam and b.) the info does not personally identify or "dox" an individual, IMO it should be permitted.
Also, GhostPath and CyberGhost are pretty good. 5 a month is cheaper than these two though, so if itworks well go for it!
Basically outside of being able to show your ip as from another place, it's just like a proxy. It shows you as somewhere else, and hides your info from anyone tracking it online, thus making your online identiy harder to track.
New usenet provider and new VPN. UsenetServer was $90/yr which was more expensive than a lot of unlimited deals, so I ended up going with NewsgroupDirect which uses GhostPath VPN. I'd sort of prefer a VPN like Mullvad for privacy, but not enough to pay more and this was the cheapest deal I could find at $40/yr both Usenet and VPN.
So far it's working well. Speeds are about the same as it was with UsenetServer.
You need to be signed on the phone to unlock so that hardware error is biggest concern. I remember somebody asking that and I'll link to to the same thread I linked him , check GhostPathfinder's response. If nothing helps then flashing in EDL mode is the go.
Note 2 ROM is OK.
Newsgroupdirect does. They also have pretty good deals on their block accounts from time to time. I picked up 2TB for $70 a few weeks ago.
Edit: they actually don't offer VPN, but they offer a discount on GhostPath VPN
Customer support on Usenet has always been top tier for me. I always find the lowest priced deal and take it to my preferred provider and they match it. News Group direct throws in a GhostPath vpn account so I use them to kill two birds with one stone. $30/year.
I use NGD and have an included VPN sub from them through GhostPath, it was a combo deal a couple years back. I use the transmission-vpn docker image and just plug in my GhostPath credentials and it generally works fine. I'm only using it strictly for that docker image though, but I've been using it 2-3+ years on public trackers without issues.
Occasionally, I'll have to switch the server that's in use because it will go down for maintenance or something and the docker will end up in a unhealthy loop because it won't start transmission if the configured VPN doesn't come up first, but overall it's been a great value for a throw-in add-on to a sub I'm already getting stupid cheap.
Never heard of it. I heard of GhostPath but that’s a different product. Seems like a browser with privacy centric features. I would be cautions with such products in general, unless there is transparency about how data is secured and protected.
TorGuard. But there are plenty that support ipfowarding. Some use direct port mapping to the same port. Others you need to use a different port. Both methods will work. Here are some examples that I tested. There are still others:
TorGuard
ExpressVPN (the may require you to use their router, there are probably ways around that)
Assuming you're on Jio Fiber, its an issue with Jio routing your packet through singapore or something.
To fix it temporarily, you can use a VPN with servers in India to bypass Jio routing.
I tried GhostPath but that broke voice for me. Outline (using digital ocean) is good but it gives me higher ping as i first get routed to bangalore then back.
Express VPN is costlier but it works properly.
YMMV.
Again, this assumes that Jio wont fix it or will break it again in future, and paying $10+ bucks for Vpn doesnt sound that fun
My VPN service was blocked because the US based (I know!) VPN provider GhostPath received a notice which included the port number I was using.
I never received a notice from the rights holders of the content though.
GhostPath support said they would reactivate my account if I promised to not use it for torrenting anymore etc. yeah ok...
Got the same deal. And the same issue that I had to contact support to get the VPN, took me 2 days of trying and hoping it were the same credentials as for the newsgroup.
However, once I contacted support, I got my welcome mail after a couple of hours, don't remember exactly how long, but not 24 hours. VPN worked as soon as I got the mail.
Check your spam folder, since the mail is not from NGD, but from GhostPath.
I've used both and for me, just outside of Toronto, the VPN provided with Newshosting (which is the same VPN service included with UsenetServer and Tweaknews) is faster than the VPN service included with NewsDemon/SlickVPN (same service as UsenetExpress/VitalNG, ThunderNews/OctaneVPN and NewsgroupDirect/GhostPathVPN).
That said depending on your location and your ISP you may have different results. With VPN's you have to experiment to find the best results for your location and ISP. What works well for me may not work the best for you and vice versa.
read GhostPathfinder reply, but pretty much it says you need dev ROM (I unlocked on global, though)
So if that is the case you'll need to enter EDL, but that is locked so you would need engineering cable (not sure if made by new or old method)
Weird. I have NewsDemon and got a free Storage Ninja account through them too. They also offer Slick VPN, which appears to be the same network as GhostPath VPN.
Are NewsDemon and NewsGroupDirect the same company? Or maybe Highwinds actually runs the VPN and Storage companies and they offer that as a value added service.
