Kii was a great keyboard, but it was removed from the Play Store and the developer stopped updating. When writing a space-constrained review that already covers 11 keyboards (plus Hodor), I can understand the impulse to leave Kii out. On the other hand, AI Type with its 10-50M users was also booted to the curb, so you have a point about the review being less than comprehensive.
I was wondering if this affects only users who install it, or if users can indirectly be affected because they have installed an application that uses it.
I believe the answer is both. The company has an independent application and an SDK which allows other applications to integrate their keyboard functionality.

You can try it for 2 weeks for free, shouldn't need to add a card
Edit: And if I'm wrong about the 2 weeks, all you had to do was scroll down to find a free version
I use AI Keyboard because it has tons of themes and customization options. There are windows themes in there and you can change the font and color of the keys and background to your own liking.

I ended up with the a.i. type keyboard because there's a W8.1 keyboard option, however the way the app (and a lot of other keyboards for that matter) handled adding words to the dictionary meant that I had to spend a lot of time deleting things as I tended to miss the space bar and hit another key. It was the best option I found though, and after turning all the bells and whistles off I could see myself getting used to it (especially since you can resize it as you wish).
See I disabled Glance so I could net the extra battery life, I'll have to try it but I wish there was an option for it in the notification center so it was quicker to enable/disable.
I really like the WP Calendar and Email apps, they do everything I want stock and since I mainly run Windows everything syncs nicely everywhere.
