There are quite a few nice alarm clocks apps on android that does similar stuff. I have alarm clock xtreme , it has the option to make you solve math problem to turn off the alarm. It's really good.
> Also, no way you're getting a refund for an app you still have access to. that's slimy on your part.
It's an app that no longer works the way it should. The developer has acknowledged the issues any willingly chose not to fix them.
Is it really slimy to want a refund for an app I paid for that no longer works right?
> The only thing the dev did wrong was not being clear and communicative about it before doing it.
Before doing it? They're not even clear about it now, well after doing it. The app page for the broken-on-10-and-won't-be-updated version still says "Download the premium and ad-free Alarm Clock Xtreme (with timer and stopwatch) NOW with just a low & easy 1-time payment!"
No notice about this being a deprecated version, no disclaimer about the issues it has that won't be fixed, no link to the new one, etc.
And beyond that, they didn't notify users about anything. I guess their plan is just to have people like me update their phone, realize the issues, then happily pay again...? If they had sent an email 6 months ago talking about their plan, their reasoning, apologizing for it but explaining why it's necessary that would have been WAY better.
Hence this PSA post; I am trying to let others know what I found out that the company isn't publicizing.
I still use this every morning. Alarm clock xtreme for Android.
You have to set it up properly, no snooze, answer multiple math questions correct before turning off, can silence the alarm for a few seconds so it's not blasting while you're trying to think, and set the math to a difficulty that is hard enough you actually think about it.
It also has an alarm type to scan a Barcode of something to turn off the alarm, so you could set it to scan your shampoo bottle or something (or print out your own).
My solution to this kind of problem is to set alarms on my phone - I use this app (and there's also a free version) which has plenty of features and is very reliable. You want an alarm at 12:20 to wrap up lunch and one at 1:40 or so to give you time to finish up at the gym and be out by 2. If you want to go on facebook set an alarm for 5 minutes - you can set up a 5-minute timer in the app so it takes like 10 seconds to activate it when you need it. Also, if you're doing pomodoros or something similar you can pre-set alarms for that, too - you can set it up to just chirp quietly at you once by setting the auto-dismiss duration to 'one second' and adjusting the alarm volume under advanced settings to 10% or 20% or whatever makes sense for your situation.
Good luck!
Alarm Clock xTreme has this. I've tried other apps, but keep coming back to this. There are both paid and free versions.

What I do since like 5 years is to use Alarm Clock Extreme:
> -Put my first alarm at 7.30AM, make it "snoozable" max 9 times for 2 mins every time. > > -Put a second alarm at 7.50AM with a different ringtone, "snoozable" max 5 times 2 mins each, with medium math to dismiss.
Sometimes I rage at the loud ringtone, sometimes I wake up easily (All depends on the motivation, the tiredness and if it's Monday or Friday morning).
But only the snooze button without final math, would mean getting fired in less than a week.
Take this idea and put it in your app, it could be an alternative.
Alarm clock extreme. You can set multiple alarms for different days of the week, disable to ability to snooze, and require solving math problems to turn off the alarm.

Drop in some reviews as well.
It is darn good to see such utility based apps coming up. Alarmy has made a name for itself vis a vis alarm apps, and competition never harmed the users :)
I was planning to purchase Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer by AVG Labs
And not only was it pretty nicely priced, they actually further increased the pricing of late...
I highly recommend Alarm Clock EXtreme, by AVG labs. They tout 30,000,000 users. I've been using this app for 5+ years. It is great. I can't imagine anything I can't do with it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alarmclock.xtreme

If you have problems waking up it's pretty sweet because there different options on how to stop the alarm. I mean, you could just hit stop but you can also do stuff like:
Shake your phone in a certain way.
Enter a Captcha (I use this. Annoying as fuck but super helpful in actually waking me up).
Solve math problems at various difficulties.
I have an alarm clock that does not snooze unless you do math... I have a OtterBox case now alarm clock extreme
Alarm Clock Xtreme. There is also a free version
Alarm Clock Xtreme also features volume crescendo and you can set it to give you math problems to disable the alarm.
Just paid for Alarm Clock Xtreme + Timer for my mobile. Best timer/stopwatch/alarm for Android, imho.
