I recommend the app Adware for android, it can display what type of ads all your apps are using. Fullscreen ads/with sound should be illegal.
On sync pro, definitely not a thing. Have the same setup and never saw a single ad.
I'd rather think your phone has been hijacked by some malicious app that displays ads everywhere... Especially games are prone to such asshole-tactics.
This article has a nice write-up on how to fight it: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/android-app-displaying-popup-adverts/
And they recommend this app here to find other apps that display those ads: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keerby.adaware&hl=en
If you want to go one step further, root your phone and install www.adaway.org as well as www.xposed.info and then the module MinMinGuard within Xposed. That will kill all ads for good.
I've had the same issue before, and I downloaded Anti Adware and Malwarebytes and it took care of it. I'd recommend those two and run full scans on both.
I think we have something here. I installed the Anti Adware app mostly because it came up first and was popular.
I took a scan of my phone and what do you know, TSN Go is the culprit. The red symbol means the app can show ads using the notification bar. This app allows me to watch sports on my phone but I rarely use it so off it goes. Now it's waiting to see if that shoe will drop.
I have no problem with an app showing ads while I'm using the app - I think that's fair game. It's not fair game to extend beyond the app.
Thanks for your help.
what have you installed aroudn the time this started?
adaware has a feature which allows you to see what apps are showing what ads

I did some quick research and you might want to try an app like AdAware to help you find the offending app. Otherwise the are several other alternatives you could try, such as Malwarebytes, that can help with this.
Grrr, none of the seem shady, try this as a last resort and see if it picks anything up, after that it's a factory reset. This also contains ads though, so if it does find the offending app, uninstall or disable them then uninstall this.

I don't see any ads with my Nexus 5, but that isn't too strong of evidence since it get security updates every month. I also installed this app and with AVG Mobile to check for adware and didn't see anything from AAA VR Cinvema.
try downloading "adware" it's pretty neat and tells you what types of adware are associated with each app. I think adware only detected the ad once I scanned shortly after it showed up so you might need to scan with adware right away too. Here's a link to adware
it's for android

A Firefox with an actual about:config, MicroSD cards up to 400GB, extended 3rd-party batteries, and a price affordable enough to buy two where the twin is feature-synced 3 & 6 months after initial purchase so Android1 can get bombed and within an hour Android2 is online.
use this app anti adware, it might help you (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keerby.adaware)
