I have the Xtrons PE91CYPL in my 06/955 I love the radio and it's features. I recently changed the launcher to Car Launcher Pro which is way nicer than the stock one it came with. A bit more customization as you change all the widgets and placement. Thankfully mine didn't come with the beeps that yours is doing. It could be in the base settings - for mine, you click Settings > About - Then on the right side of the screen usually on the top row is another gear icon that you can click and get into the radios core settings.
Excellent choice for what you want to do with it, at a very reasonable and affordable price,
That hardware alone by itself pays that toy !
Check out this "car launcher" :

Enjoy !
Have the same head unit for my Civic. I use Car launcher Pro.

It's a much better looking and functioning home screen then the default one. You can install it from the play store and set it as your default.
I'd suggest to use Car Launcher Pro launcher app. It's a complete all-in-one solution because it works as a homescreen, shows travel speed and title of the media playing. You can toggle a screensaver with dark background and current time so it saves the battery and doesn't disturb you while driving at night or in dark environment. Also you don't need any custom media controls - the play/pause, prev, next controls and volume bar is available instantly in the screen.
I have a nexus 7 (2013) tablet installed in the dash of my car right now. Let me just say, its challenging to get everything working correctly. Send me a PM if you want, I can give you more details about it. My Car's a 2013 infiniti g37 for reference.
First off, you'll need some creativity, the ability to flash a custom rom on your tablet, basic electrical knowledge, and a few tools. A soldering iron and a multimeter are very helpful here. I used the XDA forums for most of my information gathering. LINK. You'll need a custom rom on the tablet that supports OTG charging and data pass through. I used Timur's USBRom. There's a version that's on android 6.0.1. There's plenty of info about how to install it on line, google's your friend. I'll just share some difficulties I've had, and some tips. My install was rather complicated because I relocated the OEM screen, and installed the Nexus in it's place.
Assuming you want clean audio out of the tablet, you'll want an external DAC. I used the Behringer U-Control linked below. It takes power from the USB hub, and the tablet sees it automatically without any extra fuss. It has much cleaner output, and more voltage over the nexus's headphone jack. It also avoids the ground loop problem completely. I'm using the mic linked below, for the google assistant voice control to work. When the USB DAC is plugged in, the tablet routes the mic input to it, I couldn't find a way to fix it, so I just added the mic.
I had some problems with the tablet entering deep sleep after I installed it. It's internal battery would drain about 10-15% a day, that's a problem. I was worried about a potential fire hazard by having a lithium battery permanently mounted in the car. So I decided to remove the battery completely and have it run off the car's power full time. I used the information here to do it. No battery mod It does pull some power overnight from the car's battery. So there is a risk of the car not starting. The tablet goes into sleep mode, so the power drain is minimal. I've went 3 days without starting the car, the tablet's drain didn't give me a problem at all.
The tablet is going to need a network connection if you want streaming music or other misc things. I messed around with Bluetooth tethering from my phone, but the speeds were too slow to be useful. So until I get the motivation to mess around with automation, I just turn on the wifi hotspot from the phone. I also have a bluetooth ODB2 dongle connected to the nexus, I can get a feed of what the car's doing using the torque app. There's a bunch of "dashboard" launchers available, so look around and take your pick. I'm using Car Launcher Pro. Trust, me on this, you really want a matte finish screen protector for the tablet. It was blinding with the glare from the sun. In the future, I'm going to integrate a dash cam, and possibly reroute the car's backup camera into the tablet too. I haven't gotten to that point yet.
I'll explain how everything is connected in the car to give you an idea of what I had to do.
I tapped into a switched 12v wire to power the USB power supply. It was the cigarette lighter in my case. The switched power is plugged into the tablet using the OTG cable. It provides the trigger to tell the tablet to resume/suspend itself. The USB hub is getting power from this source as well, via the OTG cable.
I connected the USB DAC to the XM radio input on the stock headunit. (same applies if you have and external amp)
I connected the DC-DC converter to a constant wire. I tapped a 10 amp fused 16 gauge wire off of the feed going to my fuse box. This provides full time power to the tablet, so it doesn't power off.
I rerouted the OEM usb input in the console. I soldered a USB male end onto and and ran it to the USB hub, this lets me plug in a usb drive for extra storage.
Nexus 7 (2013) Used from ebay $60
Car Launcher Pro is what I use. Awesome interface. Better than Android Auto, if you ask me.
