Devil's Attorney is an RPG that doesn't get enough love. Total campaign time of around 10ish hours and enjoyable the whole time.
The system is unique, but familiar - instead of attacking monsters to reduce their HP, you attack the credibility of witnesses and the validity of evidence to reduce its potency. It's just different enough so that you can't "auto-fight" through the battles - each one is deliberately set up so it's more like a puzzle, and you learn the mechanics as you go along.
Highly recommended.
I've been disappointed with the calibre of mobile games in general, but there are still some good ones out there. Devil's Attorney was a fun one I found.
Is the Devil's Attorney still available? I thought it was great. Voice acted, a nice twist on the turn based rpg gameplay, and you level up stuff
You might like Devil's Attorney.
You can get some of those games you've mentioned on Android already. There's a ScummVM app if you're interested.
linkme: Devil's Attorney, ScummVM
Devil's Attorney is a great deal at $0.99.
No one ever seems to mention Devil's Attorney, one of my favorite and very creative. Currently $3.37 (CDN app store)
Devil's Attorney is an Attorney simulator. I have completed it 3 times on 3 difficulties. Story is really fun, dialogues are hilarious. Also game 100% voiced.
Emissary of War is a somewhat old RPG. Features fun gameplay, interesing non-typical story and some replay value + 100% voiced. Honestly i just love characters in this game. Also, there is a small book that you can read after the game for more story.
HexDefense is just a very simple tower defence, but a really fun one.
Simon Tatham's Puzzles is a bundle of fun puzzle games. Great for playing in a bus.

This one is short, funny and one of the first games I've played on a smartphone.
Pick up the dude from Devil's Attorney, flesh him and his circumstances out, and boom. There's your hit.
Check out "Devil's Attorney"! If its intro doesn't hook you, maybe it's not for you.. :D
windows 10 s = only win 10 store = no bueno
some tablets sold with windows 10 s can be upgraded to full win 10, but you need to check if the hardware specs are up to it.
once you have a tablet with full windows 10 you have a desktop computer windows 10 inside your tablet. you can run any program that can run on windows, including work and full browsers and downloaders and clients on top of games.
which means that you can fully use any input device you have in that moment. kb+m, xbox controller, or those 2 controller thingies that clasp to the sides of the tablet similar to the switch, plus touchscreen obviously.
you can play skyrim, starcraft, left4dead, whatever you want - obviously you'll be limited by the hardware and by the input system you have available, but the machine will have an os capable of running true games.
the number of truly good games on mobile is tiny, and some good gameplay games are locked inside awful microtransaction money sinks.
with full win 10 you can play FTL full pc version, or slay the spire instead of the bad mobile knockoffs.
with full windows you can multitask, run quality of life programs such as autohotkey (e.g. autowalk for borderlands) and do a million things, including playing all pc emulators available with proper interface.
or maybe consider a small laptop, I don't know in which situations you'll game mostly so that's your choice.
as for "I can't stand Nintendo" I don't get it - I am no fan of Mario and Zelda and Metroid, they are "meh" to me, but I can assure you that I have loved every second I've used my DS - you can probably pick up a new 3ds xl for cheap now, the only downside is the low screen resolution.
Remember the OUYA? It failed massively, unfortunately. Had it succeeded in its large plan, we would have seen android games developed with controllers in mind.
But it failed hard, and so all you get on android mobile is touchscreen and virtual controller (on-screen buttons and joystick) games.
Personally I absolutely hate (they make me frustrated and angry) on-screen controls, despite their popularity with young and mobile-only audiences, so what's left is a few good touchscreen games and ports.
There's old final fantasy ports (which cost even 20€, madness in steam gog humblebundle era) and small barely known gems such as devil's attorney, and the phoenix wright port

but most of android is infinite runners, puzzle games, f2p p2w games, fortnite ripoffs :P (and flappy bird)
I really enjoyed Devil's Attorney. More of a classic RPG than turn based strategy, but very fun and satisfying.
Devil's Attorney is an excellent turn-based strategy game about a lawyer with a flaky moral compass.
You're the inspiration for Devil's Attorney aren't you?
First one that comes to mind is Devil's Attorney.
You might enjoy Devil's Attorney.
