I found a game called Does not commute. It's really fun, you have to drive fifteen or so cars to a destination on an areal view map, one at a time. The twist is that every turn you go, your previous cars are on the map, so eventually there are fifteen cars all driven by you, trying to navigate the map. Really fun.
If you're in for a flight then "Mediocre" makes great games. I can personally recommend "Does not Commute" and "Smash Hit". Their games are 100% ad free and offline friendly, but they don't allow you to make checkpoints in the free version. Which means that if you're going to be playing for a long time at a time, it won't bother you and you can beat your previous scores, but on the free version you won't be able to go back to where you left of. If you decide that it's worth your time and money that the paid versions cost around $3.
There's a game called does not commute https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mediocre.commute which is not your traditional car game it's a 2d car game I ended up purchasing because my 5yo loved it.

Does not Commute is a great game. Interesting concept that requires you to plan ahead. You drive multiple cars, on by another but all at the same time. Kind of difficult and hectic, but a lot of fun.
94% is also great game. Perfect if you don't have a lot of time, but still want to play something. You have to find answers people gave to a question/picture and get 94% of that.
Game is called Does Not Commute by Mediocre.

It's called "Does Not Commute", and the description sounds exactly like what you mentioned. It seems to have a PC version, but that wasn't immediately easy to find a link for.
This seemed to be the official site? http://www.mediocre.se/commute/
I can't easily find the release date to ensure it matches up, so I'll just leave it at this. Just for fun, I found this by googling "traffic don't crash into yourself game".

I enjoy the game Does Not Commute It is very challenging. It's more of a puzzle game than driving.
Top 4 right now:
Does not commute is a fairly novel game with cool dynamics and writing
Framed is a puzzle game with cool game mechanics
Lifeline is an adventure game where you interact with a person stranded on another planet with different choice paths-its format can be quite unnerving
Dead Ahead is an old game that I still love. An endless zombie apocalypse bike based runner-really addictive and cool art style
Nice atmosphere! Keep it up!
The gameplay reminds me a little of this weird gem: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mediocre.commute
