I've used this app for a couple of years now, to record conversions with my young son. It has good recording quality options, looks good, and is easy to use. Recently added features include an ability to conveniently rename file right after recording (or choose to delete) without having to go to a separate screen.

I don't recommend recording while you're driving unless you have someone with you (but likely not, given you mention you're doing it solo). Other than the potential actual danger of distracted driving + potential ticket depending on where you live, the sound also isn't that great. I tried it out once (I set my phone to record and put it in the cup holder). My voice picked up okay but it was pretty far away and picked up a lot of BG noise.

Recording on your Android is viable though. An app I found recently that I really like: Easy Voice Recorder Pro. It's what I use when I can't use my computer equipment.

You can use tasker to automatically start and stop voice recording with Easy voice recorder

You can set tasker to delete the old file too. But i don't recommend it. You can use taker to start recording at 6am and stop at 10pm everyday.

Then you manually delete unnecessary files at Sunday.

You can set a reminder every Sunday to review the files. You can use Google keep to set reminders.. But i recommend ticktick for all tasks reminders.

I have an android phone and I use this app, which automatically uploads to Google Drive after finished recording. I think it is available for iOS too.

As far as archiving, I back up important things on icloud, and run Time Machine backups onto two external physical hard drives.

Too bad this only records in mono despite the fact that most smartphones have more than one mic. I still recommend Easy Voice Recorder Pro

Absolutely! I'm using Easy Voice Recorder Pro on Android for 3.99USD. There is a free version but with pro you can upload to a cloud location. I sent my wife a link to my Google drive where all the uploads reside. I also keep a widget on my home screen so it's easier when driving. Touch once to record, touch again to stop and upload. I can customize the filenames to correspond to the date and time of the recording.

I use Easy Voice Recorder Pro. So far worked fine for me. Good audio quality. My application is mostly to record office meetings that I'm in so I have a reference point what the hell everyone was talking about ... lol

They have a free version if you want to try out.

They did a recent redesign and it is all material design now. Looks great. Comes in both dark and light themes. Saves to wave files. I usually back them up to my Google Drive via the app. You can do a USB transfer as everything else in Android.

You could import this project to follow this guide and if you don't like the quality of Taskers native Task -> Media -> Record Audio you could try Termux or the easier plugin Easy Voice Recorder.

Google Recorder: It transcribes the entire recording into text, and categorizes it into speech, music et cetera and after recording you can search for text in the recording. Completely offline. I used a modded APK by XDA Developers (https://www.xda-developers.com/download-latest-google-recorder-app-android/ )

On Android 9, you can search for text in the recording but the transcription is blank for some reason. On Android 10 it works perfectly.
