I hope this gets picked up by a lot of developers. It's pretty clear this ui will be completely limited by the number of apps other devs develop/integrate with it, which means they either need to pay developers really well or have ios/android level of user adoption and at the moment this sub seems to be the only one talking about it.. we'll see...
also hound does like 90% of the stuff this app does. They're really getting a lot of mileage out of this "creators of Siri" schtick.
edit: says "developers" 30,000 doesn't describe the api devs would use once -__-
Yeah, I've just seen a demo of Hound Voice Search and the thing is just too cool. The progression in this field the last 5-10 years is staggering.
That said, I feel I would need to have a "safeword" to shut the damn thing off. I am not trusting my life to a free app :).
It's not really a "restaurant locator app" per se, but Hound can handle queries like "show me fast food restaurants that are open now and sort them by distance". I've found myself using it a lot.
> "What is the population of Japan?" followed by "What is the population of its capital?" or "What about its capital?"
He does do that. He gives it a few follow up questions and the video in the play store app page also has follow up questions that narrow things down. In the app page video, he asks for hotels in an area and then after getting results says, "how about with free wifi and a gym that aren't bed and breakfasts" and it narrows his results! If this is real, this is beyond anything done by any other company in the world.

There's Hound which isn't as good as Google Now but is promising.
it's an old, reposted video, and the app is already available. it's not that good tbh.
This is Hound. One of its features is being able to string things together.

that demo doesn't show anything that hasn't been done, just like decades-old automated touch-tone IVR's.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_voice_response
These days automated and conversational IVR has moved to voice input, but the task is the same, it's simply attaining the initial context, then narrowly focuses on that topic.
Companies have been using voice-IVR for customer service for years, they're nothing new at all.
Here's a new entry into the field, from Hound:

as for downloading, Hound is available on ANdroid currently as Beta:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hound.android.app&hl=en
all the other companies, from Apple, AMazon, Microsoft, Google, et al already have shipping products you can try on their respective platforms.
Not Google, but wanna see remarkable? Here you go. It's as fast irl like it is in the vid. Try it
Seems similar to Hound being able to do this! I'm glad they added it!
