Indeed. I have Internet speed meter installed - it shows KB/s data transfer rates in the notification bar. During the 30 second pause at the end of the boot process, there is no network activity.

(Very useful app by the way; I now recognize the login handshake from the upload/download pattern that occurs during the "spinning ball" animation and sometimes when a batle stalls.)

Ya may be battery optimization , but also another thing is that in status bar it wont show both upload and download speeds separately so i just found this one below

Those kind of apps... They monitor the data and wifi usage and they alway show the current internet speed.

I use Internet Speed Meter. IMO this has the best floating widget with both upload & download speeds and the app is very well designed too.

Damn, I just realized that there are two similar apps named the same, with very similar icons (one is square, one is round). Not sure which one is best, although I suspect the one I linked to might be.

Unfortunately, only the carrier-unlocked US996 USA has an easy way to root; all others involve fairly long procedures.

While most of my own customizations require root access, here are a few apps worth looking at that should work without root:

• Internet Speed Meter puts a floating data transfer speed display in the status bar area (you may have to play around with the position a bit to get it where you want).
• If you like having toggles on your home screen, then the old, long-discontinued Power Toggles is an old favorite among many users. To see it in action, there are still plenty of old YouTube videos of it. Some toggles probably work better on rooted phones.
• And if you don't mind paid apps, SignalCheck Pro can display your current signal strength and LTE band on the status bar.

It creates a widget on the status bar, it is not as good as gravitybox or native speed meter but it does the job very well if you place it at the right place. I have a single sim, so I place it just left of the status bar's wifi icon on the right side.

here is an open-source implementation of the same concept.

This is a bit different as it creates a download meter notification icon which displays the speed. Downside being you will not be able to place it as per your choice. It would always be on the left-most side.
