Alternatively you could install Nova launcher. In there you can make the pictures really small and the text big in your app drawer. For your homescreen you can download invisible icon pack then in nova settings > looks you can select that theme.
You can even change the name by holding on the icon, while holding move it to "edit" at the top, and change the name.
These are the clear icons I used for 4/5ths of the dock so I can maintain functionality while keeping it aesthetically minimal: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=calvin.gross.noicons

The widget I made myself with Zooper and I can upload the Zip once I get to my computer at work.
No, its pretty easy. All you need to download this and go into Nova Setting > Look & Feel > Icon Pack > NoIcons
Update; for anyone looking for this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=calvin.gross.noicons
That icon pack works with nova launcher, as you can see here. https://imgur.com/a/F6QUW
Simply long-press icon, edit icon, choose noicons and then tap anywhere on the blank area to pick an empty icon.
This is how I solved it when I was using KLWP:
Try putting an icon from the app drawer on your desktop. Does it open quicker? If so, then you could edit your KLWP theme to remove all the shortcuts to apps that it has, then place their corresponding desktop icons over where the shortcuts used to be. Then you could rename them so the labels are invisible(or just disable labels), and then install this. Edit the desktop app icons 1-by-1 until they're all invisible and function just like before.
If you can't edit home screen/desktop icons without editing the app drawer ones, download this, and use it to create shortcuts from the app's menu, with the invisible pack I linked. That way, it should be an invisible icon on the homescreen/desktop, and a regular icon on the app drawer. Hope this works!
I believe it's this one.
The numbers are the time, and the lines are the battery level.
Icon pack: Invisible icons
Wallpaper: This
Launcher: Total Launcher
Update: More stages in case anyone wants this design
Update 2: Zooper files
Just finished this a couple hours ago. Screenshot
If you were wondering, I used nova launcher and the Invisible Icon Pack to place Invisible icons over the various objects.
Here it is with labels to give you a better look under the hood. I used a 7x7 layout and placed all of the apps over the objects before I started making them Invisible.
You all can probably make something a lot nicer than mine but here is the link to the back ground in case anyone wants it
