Eh what? I’m a professional app dev as well.
Tell me, how do I, without any running costs, build an email app that sends realtime notifications on Android?
Hint: it’s impossible.
Due to Doze, apps will only be able to run every 90 minutes while the device is asleep. So "realtime" notifications are gone.
Google instead suggests to rent a few servers and use cloud messaging.
How do I access even the stepcounter? I can only do so while my app is in foreground, and will only get steps that occured while my app was in foreground even in the sum counter.
If I want to get any realistic data, I need to use Google Fit and Google Maps GeoLocation, and potentially end up paying for the API key.
I’ve had a few apps that became useless due to this.
> App subscriptions exist because almost nobody is willing to pay $.99 for an app that cost $150,000 to develop so for those that do and for features that cost money to maintain you create subscriptions so that you might be able to pay your employees.
If this simply was the case, apps with "pay to unlock premium functionality" were still a thing.
But reality is, that won’t pay the server costs of IRCCloud (4$/mo), the server costs of CloudMagic Email (4$/mo), etc.
Most of the apps without subscriptions just pay developers with ad revenue, or pay-to-remove-ads. But the subscription cost of most apps is due to recurring costs.

I hope this helps, lots of my friends use irccloud (heck even /u/CosmicKeys does) and they all seem to love it. I don't use irc on mobile though, I prefer hexchat for desktop.
Irc also has web versions and is cross platform.

Or

You can also connect via apps on android, iOS (both of which have, along with the web version, irccloud which will let you use one client across all devices: iOS version, android version) and windows phone
If you don't want to use irccloud, services like elitebnc also let you use the same account, nick and also keep you online 24/7 so you don't miss anything, on any client you want. I'm always using the same account/session on two different clients (a mobile one and a pc one) becuause I use a bnc.
Lemme know if you need help.
IRCCloud. It has a built-in BNC-type functionality as well.

Download IRC Cloud for iPhone! Unfortunately, i don't really know the steps so give the above steps a try maybe?

Unfortunately i don't see a IRC Cloud for windows phone and don't know the steps for IRC clients via that method Try visiting the website at: kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#reddit-schizophrenia and give it a try? Maybe it'll work.

It's pretty simple! I'm always around if you need help with it. If you're on PC, you can just follow this link: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/#irc://irc.snoonet.org:+6697/#psychic just enter a nickname and you're done pretty much, people are almost always around chatting.
If you're on mobile, most of us use the Irccloud app (iOS or Android), although there are other irc apps that work.
For Irccloud on mobile, you just need to download it and then register. You get a setup screen, like this. All you have to do is:
Snoonet
in the "Network" field, irc.snoonet.org
in the "Hostname" field6697
in the "port" field (and make sure the "SSL" box is ticked)/join #psychic
.After that it remembers your setup so you don't have to mess with it again.

There's lots of irc apps. I usually recommend Irccloud (android or iOS).
If you get irccloud, you'll need to register and then enter the setup like in this screenshot.
hostname = irc.snoonet.org
port = 6667
(or 6697
if you tick the ssl box, more secure).
Then just type /join #infertility
after it's setup.
There's a few other good apps though:
Mutter is a good one for iOS. There's also turboirc (setup instructions for turboirc here)
Android also has AndroIRC (setup instructions here) and HoloIRC (setup instructions here).
On another note, who made the room? It doesn't look like it was registered so if someone wants to do that, can send me a message on there by typing /msg Madbrad200 hey
and i can look into it or if I'm not around, type /join #help
or go here.
And I would recommend stickying a post linking to the chat or including it in the current stickies. People will miss it otherwise.
The apps work better than Kiwiirc. Like irccloud (android or ios). Just set it up like this (hostname = irc.snoonet.org
, port = 6667
or 6697
with ssl enabled), then type /jon #psychic
after you connect.
IRCCloud is pretty good.
I like IRCCloud's client, the biggest downside is that it uses IRCCloud.
