Android unfortunately doesn't implement any universal printing driver like iOS does, so it's up to the OEMs to provide one, and they can make it as shitty as they wish. Depending on whether it's worth it to you, there is this third-party $9 app for Android that implements printing to any compatible printer, with a bunch of advanced options and support for remote printing as well. You can try it for free to see if it's compatible and then make the decision. Better than enabling shady permissions on that piece of shit of an app which a lot of the time doesn't even work, I guess.

Huh.
So could this be used for a Dyno label printer for instance that has its software loaded on device? (I'd try but don't have a OTG USB-C cable)
Yes - provided you have a compatible printer, you can use PrinterShare to print via USB, and also use Google Cloud Print to print via PrinterShare.

Assuming that smartphone supports USB OTG, I'd suggest buying an adapter cable and trying to print directly via OTG. This App may work with the printer you're trying to use... more research is needed.
If that doesn't work, an alternative method would be to use a USB OTG cable with a USB SD card reader. It will show up as mass storage on the device, which you can then copy images to. Then unplug SD card from reader, plug into printer. Not optimal, but an option.
Why rely on a USB cable when you can print to most network printers (wired and wireless) simply by using an app?
Pretty much any printer with an Ethernet connection can be connected to an existing wireless network by plugging it into your wireless router. Then you just need to select an app that you want to use to print with. Some of the newer printers have their own apps on the Play Store. Older printers are supported by third-party apps such as PrinterShare:

Google Cloud Print has been discontinued, but there several Epson apps and many other third-party apps which may allow you the ability to print from your phone:

Are you using Google Cloud Print? This service has been discontinued by Google. Instead, try using the Canon app, or a third-party app to print.
Not LE, but was in a similar situation a few years ago. This app helped me to print off most of the evidence I needed for the protective order. I'm sure there's an iPhone equivalent if that's what you have.
I assume you've tried installing the HP Print Service and HP Smart apps? I prefer using PrinterShare myself - there is a free version but I paid $5 for the Pro version. I love being able to walk into any office and print to a nearby printer without worrying about downloading drivers or manufacturer apps.

Unfortunately, not using the default apps - they're often quite limited when printing wirelessly. You could try using the PrinterShare app, but YMMV, depending on your printer model/firmware.

One more idea...
If you are using your phone as a camera, use an app to send the pic to the printer so as soon as you get everybody unloaded, you can just grab the ready made print to show off. Nobody likes waiting... especially if they are waiting to possibly give you $$.
Never used either, nor have I done what I'm suggesting. So... yeah.

Edit: I reread that you are going to use a point and shoot... Maybe toss the memory card to somebody (before liftoff) that works with you? Dunno. I deal with impatient people all day and even the smallest wait time affects my sales, so I was thinking how to minimize the wait. At the very least, start making that "wall" of smiling customers, real or not, that can serve as a "you soooo want to take something like this home with you!" kind of thing.
I tried some of the apps on play, but could never get it to work. Note 2, rooted stock kk, and a canon mg2520 (just usb connection)
This one seemed promising but would never actually print. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dynamixsoftware.printershare
Hrmmm...Try this one then....it says it supports printing to Windows/Mac shared printers:

Try using a third party app:

Try a third-party app. This one never fails for me:
I use the app PrinterShare to print my Google Slate

yeah you can you have to buy this app, use usb otg to connect to brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I use the printershare app from the Playstore.

Already exists: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dynamixsoftware.printershare
And you can just use a powered OTG hub or wireless charging to get around that.
