Using a knife for self defense is an ugly thing. You have to be ready to kill this guy for bullying you, because knife wounds are very deadly. If you plan on bluffing and he calls you on it, now you're his bitch forever. If he also has a knife now you two will probably end up killing each other because no one wins in a knife fight.
I carried a knife from the age of 12 and up, everywhere I went, for the same reasons you want to carry one. That being said, my advice is to carry pepper spray. I was was convinced it was a girl's weapon, but that was a shitty teenage machoman attitude that I'm over now. It's better in every way to a knife, it's completely non-lethal, doesn't even require medical attention, is extremely effective even against someone who has a knife, can be used from a distance, and in Nebraska there are no age or carry restrictions on it.
With pepper spray you can defend yourself without killing someone or risking your own life, and it probably won't even go to court if you do. Meanwhile, if you use a knife, you're almost guaranteed to end up on the stand explaining yourself to a jury. You can buy it on Amazon for about $10.
I’ve seen someone with this printed on a travel cup before. Don’t know where they had it made.
There is also this shirt.
$20 on Amazon. This book will save relationships and maybe your life.
Emotional survival for law enforcement: A guide for officers and their families https://www.amazon.com/dp/0971725403/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_KBZQFb21838K7
It will forever change your life. That's for sure. Most people lose touch with friends (either due to the schedule or that they don't "get it"). Old hobbies start to die out, usually because of the schedule. You have to make a concerted effort to hold on to that stuff.
Pick up a copy of Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement. It's not too expensive and is an easy read. It'll go over some of the issues officers face. Read it and if it still sounds fun, come on in!
The reason that a lot of the ins and outs of criminal investigation are hard to come by is that if the bad guys know exactly what the good guys are doing, they can use that to try to get away with additional crimes.
You can get some of the basics from books like this. But you aren't going to get a ton of in depth stuff in all likelihood.
> I use the G1W and got it off amazon. Great peace of mind.
I have that one as well! I love it and it's already come in handy.
Left of Bang is an amazing read and one of only a handful of books I regularly pull off the shelf of my library to reread. It focuses on human behavior but will open your eyes to a lot more.
This is a case reference (by Carmen and Walker) mentioned previously in this forum, although I don't know its specific coverage:
Get yourself a Fishing Magnet or two (or even one of the custom made for the purpose magnets), and mount them on the underside of your frame.
Most traffic light signals are based on inductive sensor loops buried just under the surface in roads at stoplights. The engines of cars and their metal frames are usually plenty to course the circuit in the system, but often a Motorcycle will not... the magnets fix that.
Even works for bicycles.
I got one with a magnetic mount and placed inside the removable side of an unused desktop computer for April Fools. Drove my supervisor raving mad.
There are many hiding spots in a vehicle. Bonus: You get to annoy any peeps apprehended between placement and discovery too.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree. I have this one and it’s awesome. It’s been banged around on and off the job and it won’t break.
I HATE to recommend a Serpa holster but something like this may be your only real option for active retention with that pistol.

No. You will exhaust yourself doing that and ironically that is when an attacker will pounce, if they’re so inclined.
Can’t be bothered to explain too in depth. Imagine your self awareness is a radar that’s either on or off, no inbetween. At cooper colour code yellow, your radar is scanning in 360 degrees around you. You’re relaxed but aware of surroundings. At orange and red, the radar scan area narrows to 90 and 30 degrees respectively in response to a certain stimuli.

Not LE, but was in a similar situation a few years ago. This app helped me to print off most of the evidence I needed for the protective order. I'm sure there's an iPhone equivalent if that's what you have.
There's also CoolCop.
Doesn't really address the itchiness, but since you mentioned summer heat...
I had one. It was amazing. Plus the way it was made allowed for it to slip off easily if you ever have to throw it in park and bail.

Do you think it'd be safe to buy this from amazon? I've looked at flashlight among other things there, and there's a surprising amount of fake stuff from amazon now :/
Here is a great affordable g-shock that I have worn for two years with zero problems. It is actually about $50 less now than when I bought it as well.
Casio Men's GW7900B-1 G-Shock Black Solar Sport Watch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00309HQPK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_6VpvwbKENJR49
That's an awesome watch. It reminds me of my G-Shock Mudman. You should check it out, it has been an awesome watch. The GW-9300 is the same watch but it has atomic time keeping and a carbon fiber strap. I think it looks very similar to the Pathfinder you like.
