Nobody ever mentions Night Owl when talking about these apps so I'm here to throw it into the mix.
Lightweight, totally free, & has a single permission: run at startup. And it does have a setting to dim the Navigation Bar as well.
My personal favorite feature: pause the app & increase or decrease (in intervals of 10%) the dim level from a static notification. I'm also a big fan of their icon.
I've just tried this on my S22U and it works fine, I'm touring now with it switched on.

What phone and Android version are you using?
If on android try Night Owl. You can set your own color filter (you set the individual alpha for each color channel) and lets you increase\decrease and pause the filter from the notification menu.
I use Night Owl. It's not so much for blue filter, but it puts a dimmer on your screen. I got this so my screen wouldn't be so bright while my wife tries to sleep.
I use Night Owl since installing LineageOS.
You can either enable/disable it via a notification or via a quick tile (the way I prefer it).
I think Twilight is incredibly overrated. It's a good app, don't get me wrong, but I think it mostly just rides on the coattails of Sleep As Android's popularity.
Spending money on the pro version would just be a total waste of money. I say that not because I'm opposed to paying for apps (in fact I probably spend too much on enticing apps that I never end up using enough) but in this instance there are quite a few totally free &, in my opinion, better quality apps that offer all the same features you'll get from Twilight Pro.
My personal favorite is Night Owl. Fewer permissions (just one actually, Run At Startup which is only used if your settings call for it), smaller app size, nicer UI, completely free, & also, though this detail doesn't really matter, I think its icon is much better than Twilight's as well. It does have all the settings for blue light filters & such, but I really only use it to dim my screen below the lowest stock brightness. The notifications control (pause the app & increase or decrease the dimmer in intervals of 10%) is also incredibly useful.
At the very least I would say give it a go before dropping $3 on the unnecessary pro version of Twilight.
Try Night Owl - Screen Dimmer, Free and No Adv.
I've been using this one for over 2 years.
Night Owl is an amazing screen dimmer, and it also leaves a notification toggle too. I use it on all my devices.

It's free, with no pop up ads.
I'm an android user, so I don't know if this works for ios, sorry.
I use Night Owl, you can make the screen as dark as you want. There's even a quick settings tile
I would recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evezzon.nightowl . This one will allow your screen to go darker.
I use this app. You can configure the settings as you wish. There is even a quick toggle available and an automatic scheduler.
Only Night Owls I find in Google Play are for what look like remote camera connection applications. Where can I find it?
