Pixel Pill Widget Is the one I use but there are others out there that are similar. But his 'pill' is different...and I like it.
You can definitely do this through Nova. I've got that setup on an old phone. If you just want the widget though without the customisation... It's here
the pill option (shown) was removed as even google doesnt use it anymore with the pixels. you can use this (pixel pill widget pro) to get it back to that option. another option is to go with kwgt and find a pack with it or make it yourself.

(dock color) nova settings > dock > dock background > rectangle + white color with 50% transparency
(app drawer) nova settings > app & widget drawers > card background off / background > black color with 70% transparency / swipe to open on / swipe indicator on
just put the widget at the top of your home screen and there you go. I'm not very good at explaining things like this so just ask if anything's not clear.
