Does anyone know of an app similar to Regularly, but with vacation mode where the tasks can be "paused" and that is updated regularly (heh) with material design?
Is there anything that can replace Regularly? I've been using it since 2012 or something, and it's great (simple and effective), but I'd love to have automatic backups and shared/synced tasks with my girlfriend.
Does anyone know of an app that is like Regularly on Android? I LOVE how that app works - here's a short blurb from the description:
> Regularly helps you keep track of all those repeating tasks which don't have fixed calendar schedules. Maybe you water your plants about once a week, but you don't care if it's a different day every week. Or perhaps you visit the dentist every six months, but five or seven months is okay too.
Mm I made myself sound more disciplined than I am. I should say that if it hasn't been there longer than about a month, I resist the urge to incorporate it into the appropriate section. If it has, then I'll do it whenever I get around to pruning my vimrc
again, which could be a very long time.
For general staying-on-top-of-regular-tasks advice, I am just about the last person on the planet you'd want to take advice from. That being said, if it's important (like take the dogs in for their annual rabies shot), I'll make a recurring Google Calendar event. If you're good at keeping up with your todo lists (I am not), there's a great Android app called Regularly that lets you set a frequency on individual tasks so that the list gets repopulated automatically as time goes on.
For a general productivity framework, David Allen's book Getting Things Done is the gold standard.
But programmers love to spend more time on the meta-work than the work itself. Don't get so caught up in the tools that you forget to just do the work!
I like an app called regularly for keeping track of things like that. customizable enough that it is not annoying, unless you want it to be (so that you can nag yourself to get shit done).
Regardless of the cause, it sounds like executive dysfuction is the issue, and tips written for people with ADHD will probably help.
I've gone the route of being glued to my phone and using apps like Loop Habit Tracker and Regularly along with the calendar to tell me what needs doing when, otherwise months would pass and I'd not notice I never washed my bedding... I'm still not doing everything to keep my place clean and tidy, but as I feel less overwhelmed I add one new task at a time. First it was taking out the bins each week, then laundry every week, then changing bedding every other week, now I've added cleaning the toilet every week. Fortunately I live with a partner who does the washing up, living alone that's probably the one to start with.
For "urgency" i use an old Android app REGULARLY, not updated in years unfortunately, that uses the principle of "frequncy" (Frequency+Urgency_.
I also now note one of the reviewers mentions an alternative, possible better, Android App called RECURLOG, although i have no experience at all, so research at your leisure :)
Have you tried Regularly?
Edit: fixed link:. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly
The only problem is I don't do a chore. Then somehow I don't check it off (or I just do it weekly, don't check it off, and don't use the app) and it's not very great about saying HEY did you water your plants this week or just forget to check it off? Then later I'll go into the app and it will say under late tasks "Water Plants...68 days ago"...so if you can be very active at using it, this is a nice app to use.
Not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for since I haven't used it much, but do try Regularly. Might be just the thing you need.

Very cool, I included my current experience and thoughts about a tracker. I'm on Copaxone and my app of choice for tracking and rotating injection sites is Regularly. It's just an overall good app for people that let things go to the forgotten side of life.
I use an Android app called Regularly. It is really great to help with recurrent tasks. I'm also on Copaxone and have an alarm for each injection site, looped to the same numbers of days as the number of sites. It will stay on your notification area until dismissed, you can set its own alarm and you can see the next tasks when you open it. I use it for a lot of things, really.
Regularly is only on Android while TickTick is a cross platform task list app: Android, web, etc.
Regularly is very useful for repeating tasks that don't matter what specific date to be done. I set it up to remind me to for example talk to people every 2 days, I can have a task log when completing one and it will schedule the next event accordingly.
Link: Regularly on Google Play Store
Ticktick is a very good task list with subtask, smart list, tag, and repeating task. I use it to plany my coming day and things that needed to be done on a certain date.

It's pretty nice, the problem is that is quite old and don't have cloud backup, I wasn't able to find an better alternative for my usecase.
There's also https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kizitonwose.lasttime but it also doesn't have cloud backup.
Oh no, plenty of other strategies.
I'm trying to find a replacement for this app:

It is outdated and had wonderful functionality. Is there anything similar that allows for recurring events with a flexible schedule?
Maybe a bridge solution: I use an app called Regularly to give me periodic reminders that don't belong in my calendar.
For example, there are chores that only need be done quarterly or less, like "Flip the mattress" or "apply wood oil to the dresser." I set an interval of ~90 days and get reminders based on when I last did the chore, instead of pegging it to an exact date every year.
I've been using the app for years to remind me to keep in touch with distant friends and professional acquaintances. I log our last visit (or Zoom call, now) and get a reminder when it's been 7/10/30 days since then. It could be used to log whatever you want, including ways you want to improve.
You linked to a Cookbook app :)

I use Regulary for some random reminders that I need around the house. I like that you can float a bit and it will let you know how many days you are behind without being in your face about it.
It's propably not quite what u r looking for, but the app Regularly is still the best for reoccuring tasks/reminders. Too bad the dev hasn't worked on it for a few years. It still works, though. And it gets the job done. I really like the philosophy behind it. (Stuff that is over-due doesn't disappear in an over-due-list, it gets more red the more over-due a task is. So u get some sense of urgency when u see it. It helped a lot when I needed to manage myself quite extensively)
You might like the phone app I use. You can set reminders for a number of days as opposed to a calender date. It will then give you a notification to remind you to do whatever it is. I use it to remind me to feed the fish every 3rd day, to wash my sheets and towels, to call my grandma and flip my mattress. It's called Regularly.

If you got android I can recommend Regularly instead, it's sort of hard to explain but its a regular todo-list, really helped me remember todo my washing, backups and car-washes.
Regularly reminds you to do stuff at regular intervals. It works really well for household chores and pet care that you wouldn't want cluttering up your normal calendar.
Good to know, I'm glad there's an app like Regularly (Google Play), when so many tasks don't need a specific calendar date but an interval. Asana has a feature like this.
I do want to be able to plan my week out better. Throw "Drop off dry cleaning" on Tuesday and throw in "Pick up dry cleaning on Thursday." Seeing things in a board in a row is awesome, which is what I lose by using Asana. Also, it's hard to resist the urge to schedule tasks way in advance, ie next Friday. If it's that far out IMO it's best to just address it in the next "sprint" or planning time.
AHHH!!!
This is the one I was talking about you idiot bot.
Regularly works pretty good for the random stuff: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly&hl=en
I'm looking for app similar to Regularly with sync feature, Any suggestions?
Yes, reminders and organizers are really our friends. Nothing to be ashamed of, honestly. What I use on my phone:
Regularly - from where's my next injection site to buy dog's food and floss everyday. My best companion.
Loop/Habits - I'm testing this one, as it's close to Regularly, but it does have some built in reports and exports its data as csv. I'm not sold yet, because Regularly is perfect in its simplicity.
Google Keep - shared lists among family members, from grocery shopping to wishes and mundane things. Edit: Even what I should discuss with my neuro is a shared list with family input, so I won't miss anything.
And on my computer:
Also Google Keep - sometimes it's just easier to get on a full keyboard.
Task Coach - organize, categorize, schedule and measure the time spent on tasks. Work needs to be done, measured and shown. On time.
Maybe one or two of you can get some use of them. Very handy little helpers.
Oldschool: Regularly

Older app, but still works for what I use it for.
How about Regularly? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly
I use Regularly for reoccurring tasks like changing my contact lenses

I think a lot of people recommend Regularly for stuff like this:

I know this post is like two months old, but maybe you're still interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly
Jeg bruger regularly til det på android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly&hl=en&gl=US. Hvor jeg også har en masse løbende opgaver. Den virker fint.
I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly for a few reminders that are days apart. No idea if it can do sub-hour.
Could it be this one?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly has a backup function, though it's not automated
Before I found Todoist I was an avid user of Regularly
I'm not sure if this meets your demands, but it might interest you: Regularly

Great app for Android for maintenance tracking:

I'm using Regularly to keep track of many housekeeping and other reoccurring tasks. The difference from simple recurring events is that if you mark a task done ahead/after its deadline, the next reoccurrence will show earlier/be postponed accordingly. The app also supports setting for each task whether to be reminded, in what time of the day and how many days ahead of its deadline. Sadly, it hasn't been updated in years, but it is completely free and ad free so I still recommend it (would love to hear of apps with similar capabilities that are updated) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ugglynoodle.regularly
Calendar Widget is showing a widget with customizable agenda. Open source, also available on Fdroid. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plusonelabs.calendar
Calendar Notify is showing an expendable notification with your upcoming events. Optionally you can set it to activate only when the device is locked, useful if your lockscreen displays notifications. Also has a similar widget, but I prefer "Calendar Widget" for that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cliffcawley.calendarnotify
Regularly does this. But it's only for repeating tasks.
