Yes, Simplenote is awesome. It's available on every platform, notes are synced nearly in real time so you can type something on your phone and within a few seconds it will appear on your computer. Also supports markdown formatting

If nobody else has any suggestions, you could learn how to make 3D models. Download blender (for mac Windows or linux):
You'd have to make your own 3D assets from scratch though.
But once you learn, you can make anything, colour it, move it, move the camera around, etc.
RadioDroid maybe? You can filter by tags (genre) and keywords and then favorite the radio station. The app is based on a collaborative list of radio station, so you can even add one if you want. It's also available on F-Droid here.
The Betty Crocker app does have a checklist for steps, but it doesn't let you use your own recipes, so that won't work for me. It may for others, though.
Yes, try out NomNom cooking converter app. You can find it on play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomnom.app
It converts from american units of measurement to metric and vice versa.
I found this for Android: Block Apps.

Works well for YouTube! Not sure if it'll let you save your work before blocking text apps, though.
