What u/BradfordAdams noted. There is really no simpler, less intrusive way to work with KLWP. I drop my phone on a cheap dock, double click a desktop shortcut and boom, you're staring at your phone on your monitor, with full mouse and keyboard input. Copy and paste between your pc, the web and your phone and back.
Another program I use a ton when building and creating, Resilio Sync. WIth Resilio, anything I drop into a folder on my desktop, immediately shows up in a folder on my device. Great for quickly moving design images and wallpapers to your phone.
Hi, i use Resilio Sync to sync my iTunes folder and Gazania for iTunes Playlists to get all my playlists synchronised. I find this solution fast and easy and its working very well for me. Resilio can also be used to sync other files, it works in both directions.
Gazania works with any kind of synchronisation of the music library, e.g. you can just copy it to the SD or sync it with Google Music free online storage.

Perhaps this may save the day, I use it constantly. Speeds will be determined by the speed of your router, not your connection speed.
Went to the Resilio website and followed the link from there. Leads to a Not Found page.
You might look at resilio sync. There's a free and a pay version, the pay version just has individual folder and file sync rights. It also syncs up to other phones and PCs as well (and maybe Mac, dunno). It's basically a big automatic dynamic bittorrent between specific clients (not the general internet population.)
Don't know if it's linked in with Google Play or not. I also don't think it compresses anything during transfer -- don't know though. But if the connection's broken, it'll happily pick up right wherever it left off when it resumes.
There's also SyncThing, a clone of that with an Android app, but I don't know much about it.
I use Resilo sync to synchronize files/folders to multiple places, but android apps have their own database and etc that doesn't play nice syncing externally. So I use it mainly for backups or desktop access to raw files.
I use Resilio Sync to sync my music files.
FolderSync Pro actually can sync with your PC if you setup samba (Windows share) or FTP properly.
Your Note supports USB 3.1; you just need the right cable (the phone that comes with the phone is a 2.0 cable). No need to remove your card.
You can also use an app like this to sync over WiFi (even without an internet connection). It's not cloud storage; you can set it to auto-sync a folder from your computer or vice versa (which is great if you download music on your phone that you also want back on your computer). Some features are paid, but it's worth it for what you're doing I think.
I use my SD card and Resilio Sync to sync files and my iTunes library folder via WIFI. For the iTunes playlists I use Gazania for iTunes Playlists and this works quite well for me.
Hi, as others already mentioned, the Apple Music app is not really mature and has a lot of bugs. I stopped using it and use now a combination of Spotify and syncing my iTunes library over WiFi.
For the syncing i use Resilio Sync to sync my iTunes folder and Gazania for iTunes Playlists to get all my playlists synchronised.

Only tangentially related, but have you tried TorrentSync for moving files to and from your phone? Basically a dropbox on your local network.
Bittorrent sync now Resilio Sync

> That is the scenario I'm describing. Websocket from desktop to server, then websocket or FCM push from server to phone. Phone then triggers the SMS. On the way back, the phone gets the SMS, sends it to the server, and desktop connects to receive the message via websocket. This is how existing services like pushbullet do it. > > This needs a new service, won't work with existing signal protocols. And it is additional server processing and traffic they need to pay for. There's currently no reliable way to directly send information between a desktop and phone without a server in the middle unless you make everyone do a lot of technical stuff to make every desktop its own server. Not only is it not easy, it could also expose their home computers to attack if not done properly.
Wait a second, that's exactly not the scenario I'm describing. I am proposing that the computer sync to the phone directly. You are talking about having a server in between.
Some existing services do it the way you are talking about. I assume that they choose to do this to support certain features that require the internet, clouds, or whatever. Otherwise, perhaps the developers simply happen to be more familiar with that method.
However, you are incorrect when you claim "there's currently no reliable way to directly send information between a desktop and phone without a server in the middle." Off the top of my head, Resilio Sync explicitly touts that the connections are direct. If there's any doubt of that, then you can try it out yourself to verify that it can indeed sync entirely over LAN as long as the phone and computer are on the same network.
If what you mean to say is that reliable ways of directly sending information between a desktop and phone are difficult, then I'm wondering what your basis for saying that is. Others have figured it out. The Signal team is pretty smart, so I'll bet they can too – especially since they have the benefit of being able to look at how others did it. No need to reinvent the wheel!
Also, since when is it's "not easy" a good reason to shoot down a feature request? Some feature requests call for things that are easy, and some call for things that are hard. (Also, because difficulty is so subjective, I think we should try to avoid declaring what the Signal team would find easy or hard.)
Server costs would only be an issue with the scenario you are describing. With mine, there's no server. That's the point.
Security is always a concern, but the vulnerability is far smaller with the kind of direct connection I'm describing. I don't deny that the server-in-the-middle approach that you're talking about runs a big risk of exposing home computers to attack, but again, our approaches aren't the same.
Finally, I think it would be better to say something like "That feature would be nice to have, but I can't think of a good way to implement it" instead of targeting the whole idea because one way of implementing it would be unfeasible. The reason I think it's better is because it invites others to brainstorm implementation strategies. My feature request does not call for any specific method of implementation, so it shouldn't be torn apart due to the faults of any particular implementation method.
The feature request is exactly this: "Receive and send SMS/MMS in the desktop app." Nothing more, nothing less!

I have a folder for my photos shared on the network in my house. Then, I use Solid Explorer to just browse to that network folder, and I copy the photos from my phone into that folder.
I haven't used them, but there are specific apps for this, like:
As I said, I haven't used these, so YMMV, but you can do some exploring. Wifi file transfer takes longer than using a USB cable, but you can start the copy before bed or something, and just let it work.
i have a pixel, macbook and use to have an ipad(used for 7 years)
i use reslio Sync to sync all my photos to my macbook automatically via local wifi(not through the internet) just like airdrop.
you can drop files and folders to it and it will show on your mac immediately.

its also on app store so you can use on ipad if you want.
Haven't used it myself, but https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.resilio.sync should be able to do what you are looking for.
Hi, after not being happy with any of the available sync apps, I use a combination of the following:
If you already have all your music on your device as you are writing. You can also just copy the "iTunes Media Library.xml" file to your device and use Gazania with it. It works best though if you keep the same file structure like you have within your iTunes folder on your computer. There is more info on the Gazania website and in-app help.
I just developed the Gazania app over the past few weeks. I wanted to be independent of the actual sync mechanism. Thus you can use any sync tool and service to have all your iTunes playlists on your device.
The downside is that it needs a bit more setup and two apps to keep your music and playlists always up-to-date.
If you give it a try, please let me know how it goes and if you need any help.
UPDATE: after writing some more comments I understood your question better. Maybe you only need to use a different player... See below.
