Unreleased app with no available reviews. Yeah, nah. I'll at least add it to my wait list and check later.
Edit: I also found this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
What's the difference between both apps?
If you can get your xpub from your ledger you can use Sentinel which will allow you to monitor your ledger wallet balance and generate new pub addresses.
create a watch only wallet with sentinel
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=en_US
be aware watch only wallets that use a node you dont control have major privacy concerns.

For a mobile watch-only wallet, Sentinel is good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=en_AU
Yes there is, try Sentinel app from the guys who made Samorai wallet, by entering your xpub address it is a "watch-only" wallet and tracks all incoming transactions and balance
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=es
If you just want to track bitcoin addresses or entire xpubs (no spending. Only receive and view) then check out Sentinel. It is only on Android though.
Disclaimer: Sentinel was created and published by Samourai
This doesn't explain the fact that Sentinel specifically states that it is BIP44 compliant.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
Copay is also BIP44 for key derivation - https://blog.bitpay.com/copay-update-1-2-5/
You can export the public key (which is safe and anyway the private keys cannot leave the device) and import that public key in the Sentinel wallet. Then you can see your balance and with that public key you can generate all the addresses that are generated on your ledger nano s. So you won't need to manually add addresses. If you want to do that with alt-coins you obviously can, but I don't know any specific apps that are like Sentinel.
TLDR: Export the public keys, import them in compatible app that generates all the addresses and boom, you have a watch only wallet for your Ledger Nano S.
Here is the xpub.
xpub6Bw9P6Uh177jMhvEjfeW1rVm6GbUE1SQH955Z6MrZREZwknEntBKT4LRibGVyLtAar6a6ubb7VjpUVZo7B7ynA5p9kYzJrPmxeWWQ4YnQa5
I know you shouldn't share these but i won't be using it once/if i get the coins out.
It could be that the app he was using the xpub with is a scam and generated false addresses. Here is a link to the app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=en
It seemed fine to me.
If you download the app and put in this xpub you can see that it shows a balance of 0.00476587 but there are no transactions on the trezor wallet website.
hi! this is a watch-only app for BTC (and only BTC, the dev "hates" BCH) that also works with xpubs for segwit addresses: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
it works, seems to be the only one for the moment ;)
/u/Tecate1985 and /u/phor2zero The feedback is very appreciated, and reasonable comments - thanks. We are always happy to hear what users think, good or bad.
We are newer to the market and have put our first efforts on getting the security and privacy correct, then adding what we consider important 'major' features such as Tor support and plausible deniability, and soon U2F. (4) U2F is on schedule for February delivery.
Polishing the user interface and improving convenience is next in line. For this, definitely adding a 'send all' function (5) and local currency information (3,2) is planned.
A print QR code button (1) is a new request and makes sense.
Alternatively, you may be interested in using a watch-only-wallet mobile app. One example on Android is Sentinel. With it, you can see your balance and display receiving QR codes.
It works with the Digital Bitbox. Instructions:
(edit: formatting)
Start by sending a small amount to your trezor. Confirm everything went okay.
Go through the restore sequence go make sure you can access the funds in the case of a lost device.
Use an app like Sentinel (disclosure, this app is created by me) or myTrezorLite to easily keep track of your wallet balance and generate new deposit addresses. Both these apps cannot send bitcoin, and are only useful as a read-only application
Sentinel by Samourai probably really close to fulfilling all those.
Can download the apk here or get the app from Google Play Store.
>Have you tried it?
Yep. It no longer works on SegWit bech32.
>Sentinel seems to support bech32 just fine.
Some others sightings on reddit. Apparently you have to mail in your zpub
and bc1
addresses to support in order to get them monitored by sentinal. Seems less than optimal and not quite what I would characterize as "supported".
There's an app called Sentinel for monitoring the balance of your bitcoin on a hardware wallet through an XPUB address.
There is nothing like this for Litecoin and it could be really helpful.
Don't have much experience with Mycelium but Sentinel offers the same watch-only functionality and now works with SegWit addresses on Trezor
Edit: added link
The xpub address is basically a read only way to access your wallet. So you can use it with something like Sentinel to keep track of your bitcoins safely with your private keys on paper/memorized or whatever.
Any watch only wallet support segwit addresses? I think the new format is bip48.
There is also Sentinel from the authors of Samourai Wallet
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=en
https://samouraiwallet.com/features.html
Samourai looks a very promising wallet with advanced features. Mycelium started to showing ads and doesn't have the same advanced features.
I'm very excited with Samourai wallet.
On Android you can use Sentinel from Samourai Wallet to consult balances of individual bitcoin addresses and BIP44 accounts (via XPUB). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
You may be interested in our new product Sentinel which is a read only bitcoin wallet that can track and receive payments for any XPUB
Thanks!
This will be useful to you https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
If you're just looking to track your balance, check out Sentinel. It's by the same guys.
Something like Sentinel?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
No.
It's not random and it's low entropy.
Why not just take at random 12 word bip39 encoded phrase.
Which will create a bip44 wallet.
Which can store any coin https://github.com/satoshilabs/slips/blob/master/slip-0044.md
Import the "account" level extended public key(s) into sentinel and it'll generate the addresses for you without your private key, which you can keep cold.
Memorise your random phrase and you always have access to your cold stored coins. And/or print to store in your deposit box.
The problem with brain wallets is that people don't use random data. Never use something from a book, film, song... anything written down or guessable - it must be random.
And don't roll your own.
For BTC there's Sentinel. Not sure about Ethereum.
For Bitcoin on Android use Sentinel ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel)
Sentinel is also good.
You can also use Sentinel for Android+BTC.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel Will do what you are looking for without limit and for free, but it sounds like you found a solution already :)
Hi! You can import your wallet to any BIP39 compatible software using the seed words (openbazaar-settings-advanced-seed). I recommend Electrum ( https://electrum.org/ ). From there you can extract your xpub public key and monitor your wallet in watch only mode for example in https://www.blockonomics.co/views/wallet-watcher.html or with the app Sentinel ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel&hl=en_GB ). This way you are aware of transactions or can even spend your BTC with electrum independent from the openbazaar application. Please keep in mind, that anyone having access to your seed words will be able to spend the money in your wallet.
There is a new app Sentinel, it works as watch-only wallet, it might work for you
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samourai.sentinel
You can export the extended public key (xpub) from your Ledger Bitcoin Wallet Chrome app into a smartphone app like Sentinel. This will let you generate receiving addresses and monitor for incoming transactions from your smartphone, while still protecting the security of your bitcoins since outgoing transactions will still need your device to be plugged into your computer.
Edit: just noticed you have an iPhone. Unfortunately Sentinel is Android only.
