AH! Sorry about that. In that case, you can sideload APKs for any DLNA server app. Just use this tool to download the APK from the Google Play Store and then sideload via ADB or transfer via ES File Explorer. For instance, I've used Servers Ultimate Pro (check out a trial version here) to host a Samba Server and DLNA server from my phone. So in theory, something like this should also work for Android TV.
That being said, I haven't used this app on my Nexus Player, as I have a dedicated network drive, already. Nonetheless, DLNA/Samba apps should do the trick. Not sure if any exist specifically for use with Android TV. If not, you'll have to navigate through a smartphone/tablet interface from your Android TV remote.
If casting via one of the already-mentioned apps is a no-go, then you could install an app which exposes your phone's filesystem as a network share and add that as a source within KODI. Can't remember the app I used, it was a kind of one-for-all which had loads of different types of servers you could start and stop on your phone. Might have been this one.
Providing you're on the same network that should work just fine.
Are you using the Servers Ultimate App and packf?
Also the .js file should be the app.js in the root folder of Deezloader
There's a workaround: Download Deezloader from your phone and install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate & https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate.packf
Just create a nodeJS server and choose the app.js script.. Working for me..
Probably no, you need to boot in any other OS via USB, DVD in order to copy that missing file.
Also you can try PXE boot via network if you have other PC or android device for PXE server.
You could run a PXE server from your phone and boot up from that (network boot). I'm sure there are apps for this, but this one should work too I think (I didn't try it):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
so you went to fix a computer and didn't bring your laptop, or any of the tools necessary, and neither the new or old mobo have usb? this is a real situation you were in?
go to the nearest target, buy a 20 dollar travel router, keep the receipt, (buy a 20 dollar prepaid android if youre a stupid apple sheep. and bill apple because they restrict your phone) download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
then proceed to boot live linux iso from pxe server on your phone connected to travel router connected to pc's Ethernet port.
not being prepared, or not being willing to carry out the repair properly doesn't mean it cant or shouldn't be done. thats the argument you're making.
You install Samba server on your phone and create a shared folder. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
On your MiBox you can use X-plore file browser to mount this local share and access it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore
Servers ultimate claims it can run an irc server on Android. Never tried it but maybe it leads you in the right direction?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
have you tried running armbian on it ? S9xx does support running armbian (armlogic version of debian). I have 4 random chinese tv boxes with s905x, and all run armbian. Just type "armbian + (your chipset name)" on google and start from there
If you want to stick with android, your best bet is
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
With no transcoding, plex server for 1 or 2 HD streams is probably fine as long as you're using ethernet for the tv box. Gigabit would be preferable of course.
And yes, your tv box is no match for the original raspberry pi.
Try Servers Ultimate:

Without root it will use a non-standard port for SMB iirc. I'm not sure how it will affect your usage.
even if you could, you wouldn't get the file until after the recording stops, you'd need to stream it to something that can handle live audio streams.. Servers Ultimate may help so you could attempt to stream audio (if you have HTML/PHP skills). First you'd need to see if Tasker actually streams to file, or buffers it and saves when stopped. If latter, you won't be able to stream it.
Little tip: Have any old android phone with so low of ram or broken display that cannot be used as a daily driver?? Set it as media centre for all your devices. With apps like Servers Ultimate you can even access your media over the internet while you are away from home.
This might be kinda what you're looking for, I used an old HTC Bravo running 4.4.4 kit kat CarbonKK unrooted. Run connect bot and a set up a SSH server and socks proxy then leave the phone unattended while plugged in to AC and on a remote WI-FI. then using your local device PC/phone open a SSH to the remote phone and you have remote 'access' to the phone and can a use the socks to proxy your browsing if you're concerned about using an open or public Wi-Fi.
You may be able to setup an ftp server on your Pixel and then use an ftp client on your iPad to send the files over. Wouldn't require internet but would require a lan or maybe Wi-Fi Direct.
Usually you can have apps running in the background if they have a persistent notification, but I am not sure how that applies to Android TV. Servers Ultimate can run most things without root, but for some reason the SMB server requires root.
I use Servers Ultimate. There is a free and paid version. It supports a ton of servers, but I mainly use it to FTP files to my phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
This app is pretty cool :) It's not exactly a VM but it's pretty nifty.

Would Servers Ultimate do what you want?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate should do the job. I tested this a few years ago.

Works very well and is easy to set up.
You can do plenty with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
Using the simple web server in "Servers Ultimate" app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate) on my phone, I can access media files on my phone in 360's IE through a LAN IP (192.168.0.xxx) and port 8080 (can't use port 80 on an un-rooted phone).
You can try Servers Ultimate:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
Also for just FTP try these:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.primftpd
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xnano.android.ftpserver
Look at Servers Ultimate. They have almost every daemon type available. They will only bind on unprivileged ports.
I found this the other day looking for a good working free VNC Server for Android. (Never found one that works with my device)

Ice Cold Apps Listing Page: Google Play: Ice Cold Apps
Too many for me to list, but they pretty much have everything you need and looks pretty professional to me.
You may want to see if servers ultimate will work
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
See sidebar for official devices of the sub
Thanks, gonna try this:

Edit:
That requires root :(
Well this says the coverage is about average. It is roughly equivalent to Verizon which could be considered the gold standard (note: I avoid business with them when possible due to their business practices).
I'm assuming you have unlimited data if you are on T-Mobile. How does Netflix/Youtube handle?
Also are you in a valley, surrounded by tall buildings, moving in a bus/car, etc?
Some ways to identify possible issues:
Next time the disconnect happens check the status bar and see if it is flipping briefly to 3G. Or possibly briefly losing signal.
Alternatively if you want to go full commando on this problem you can check your IP address address using this program by going to "Information". Look at the public IP. They will show you an IP address in phone settings but you'll want this one. Before you play next time write it down or if you just remember the last 4-5 digits you'll be fine. After the next disconnect go into the program and check the public IP address again and see if it changed.
I have T-Mobile myself and while I have not had your issue I know that there are moments when I blip and I'd say 50/50 my IP address changes as a result. Usually it happens when I walk somewhere that has weaker signal. It can cause issues for me with a program I use which results in disconnects for me. However that is a very very specific issue, and I can guarantee you the game and Blizzard's servers know how to handle it correctly. However this may cause a "blip" in connection with enough time to disconnect.
If this is happening and you can verify it, then I'd suggest looking in your data use logs and see if another app may be "syncing" right after the blip which may be slightly extending the time it takes Hearthstone to reconnect. As I said I've experienced these myself but it is infrequent. Heck I even lost connection last night on my wifi and it showed I had briefly lost connection to my router, however the game continued fine.
