I use this free shot timer app; it works quite well and has the ability to specify different weapons and save multiple drills.
My Recover Tactical Glock brace just arrived on Friday, so of course I immediately went out to the range this past weekend to test it out.
I had seen other brace kits like the Roni and Flux but those seemed too bulky and weren't compatible with my slide mounted RMR. When I saw the Recover Tactical brace I was immediately interested and bought the complete package with the holster and sling.
In terms of build quality the whole thing is fantastic. All of the polymer feels extremely rigid, I'm guessing it's reinforced with a ton of glass fibers or something. The brace locks very rigidly in the extended position with almost no wobble like on some other crappy folding adapters I've used. The brace also locks in the folded position by snapping over a hook on the side of the frame. It takes just the right amount of force to both stow and deploy it.
The holster is just a simple level 1 retention design, and personally I felt it was a bit too tight out of the box. I filed down the tabs that hold the gun in just a tiny little bit and that made it perfect. I would prefer to see a Safariland ALS style holster in the future, but I'm not sure if that would even be possible
In my opinion the included single point sling is nearly useless. Since the Glock does not have a manual safety I do not feel comfortable carrying the pistol with a loaded chamber and the trigger exposed. Seems like it would be very easy to snag the trigger on something and have a negligent discharge. You could carry it on the sling with a full magazine and an empty chamber, but that presents its own issues. I'm also not a fan of single point slings in general, and I don't see a good way to attach a two point quick adjust sling. The whole brace kit is compact enough that carrying it in the holster with a mid ride adapter plate is definitely the way to go.
I would not recommend using the brace without a red dot, at least not with a G19. The front sight winds up very close to your eye and is difficult for me to focus on. Maybe on a G34 or G17L it would work better.
I ran 3 different tests using a shot clock. The shot clock I use is an android app called Splits. It's probably not the most accurate thing in the world, but for my purposes it seems accurate enough, and all tests were performed using the same shot timer so they should all be equally innaccurate.
I tested the brace in both the folded and extended positions against the Glock 19 without the brace (with RMR and TLR-1 light), and against my favorite AR-15 (16" barrel, Viper PST II 1-6x scope, VG6 Epsilon Brake). All shots were taken from an unsupported standing position.
I am not the world's greatest shooter, but I did manage to classify Sharpshooter in the IDPA (Compact Carry Division), so I'd like to think that's evidence enough that I am reasonably competent with a pistol.
TEST 1: Mozambique drill at 20 yards
On a standard B27 silhouette target, from low ready, fire two rounds at the torso, and 1 round at the head. The distance between the torso shots was measured to the nearest inch, and the headshot was scored as just a hit or miss.

You can see I was a little sloppy on my first AR-15 run and just barely missed the headshot. Other than that all those numbers are pretty representative of my normal skill level. The brace is providing a massive increase in speed and accuracy over the naked pistol.
TEST 2: Three small targets at 20 yards
Three 6" wide circular targets are placed in a horizontal line with approximately four feet of spacing between them. From low ready, fire one round at each target. The number of total hits for each run were recorded.

Again I got sloppy and missed a few rounds with the AR by going too fast. Also the AR is zeroed at 100 yards so it's hitting a little low at this range and I'm having to aim high to compensate for it. The braced pistol again proves it is nearly as fast as the rifle, and with similar accuracy.
TEST 3: Five rounds at 100 yards
On a standard B27 silhouette at 100 yards, from low ready, fire 5 rounds at the target. Record the total number of hits per run, any hit on any black part of the target was scored as a hit.

Here is where the AR-15 shines and the weaknesses of the un-braced pistol and my own abilities to shoot it start to become very apparent. However, with the brace extended my performance is much closer to that of the AR-15 than it is to the un-braced pistol.
CONCLUSIONS
I purchased the Recover Tactical brace with plans to carry it while camping. I don't carry a rifle while camping because for one it is big and heavy, and two I don't want to be that weird guy in the group hauling around an AR-15. I wanted something extremely light weight that didn't attract a ton of attention and gave me better accuracy at range than just a standard 9mm pistol.
After performing these tests, I can say the brace has exceeded all expectations. It is exactly what I had hoped it would be and more. It brings a standard glock pistol up to nearly the level of an AR-15 in terms of ease of use and practical accuracy. Obviously the ballistics are nowhere near as good as a rifle, but it's a worthwhile trade-off considering this is basically a PCC I can carry on my belt or hide in my backpack.
I downloaded this shot timer today. Works pretty well for a free download, but I want to pick up a Pact 3 Club Timer.
Sounds about right. Have you tried using a shot timer?

Splits Shot Timer is one I heard recommended but haven't been able to try it yet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.csl1911a1.livefiretrainer
For those with an Android, I have had great luck with this app. I haven't tried it indoors however.

But it's no replacement for an actual shot timer.
