To save anyone else the hassle, /u/FasterThanTW is right. Here's the permissions for TETRIS v2.2.14:

The same version can be had on Android using the Play Store. I'd agree that it's probably the best official iteration of Tetris on mobile, with the caveat that the game is a chore at best when using touch-screen controls.
Going off of /u/Im_French's suggestion of an emulator, I've had good experiences with playing NES Tetris using the on-screen gamepad. If EA's version of Tetris isn't your speed, that might be something to consider.
i dont have android, but the version i play is on the google play store. here's the link it's a little buggy on my phone but hopefully it runs smooth in yours
I thought EA had the rights...at least that's who releases games on Android
This version is also available for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.game.tetris2011_na
Basically, there are 3 ways to play Tetris on a smartphone. I consider all of them suboptimal:
A grandmaster port would probably work best with (s)wiping because "dropping a piece" is barely needed in 20g gravity. Problem would be that you can rotate the piece in only one direction and that modes with significant gravity don't work well with smartphones imo.
I would recommend playing Tetris on another platform. You simply need buttons to play Tetris. If you still want to play Tetris on a smartphone (Android), then here are some titles that I consider not too bad:
Last but not last there are emulators with which you can play the classic Tetris titles (eg. GameBoy, NES or SNES) with on-screen buttons.
PS: Henk Rogers founded the company "Blue Lava Wireless" to manage the mobile Tetris rights. In 2005 JAMDAT bought Blue Lava Wireless for 137 million dollar, and acquired with it a 15 years-lasting exclusive license for mobile Tetris. In the same year JAMDAT was bough by EA, so EA owns the exclusive mobile Tetris rights until around 2020.

Wrong Tetris link. Here's the one I play
Would something like this not fit the bill? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.game.tetris2011_na
