The most accurate core for gb/gbc is Sameboy
Gambatte is very accurate too, you won't notice anything except Sameboy has kind of better sound.
Standalone emulators you have Vgbanext https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.emu
Don't know how accurate it is, I think is high too but the thing over other standalones is that it can emulate lots of consoles, and it is still being active.
I bought it long ago before I learned how to use RetroArch, now I prefer RetroArch for almost everything because RetroAchievements, and because it has the best and most complete way to customize the display.
VGBAnext is by far the best gba/gbc/gb emulator I've found. I'd never heard of Super Gameboy mode, but VGBAnext has color for Pokemon Blue. I recently emailed the devs with feature requests and they pushed an update a week later. Truly worth every penny (although I used credits from Google Opinion Rewards so I didn't actually pay out-of-pocket).
Do you have any source/reference for My Boy! being based on gpSP?
The emulator core of My Boy! is apparently written in ARM assembly language which is why it's significantly faster than other GBA emulators. Unless you're running it on an Intel-based device I guess.
There's also VGBAnext which could be a similar speed to My Boy! — or not perhaps, it's pay-only and has DRM so I haven't tried it.
Link me up with that emulator so that I do not confuse it with anything else..?
(I was considering getting this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.emu
Any word on the above one?)
Good to hear you had some nostalgia going as well. :)
I have VGBAnext https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.emu that is the best I have tried. Has Super Gameboy support and all the variants of Gameboy supported. Meaning you can emulate the hardware of various Gameboy models. This emulator can emulate Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance and Super Gameboy. Has net play, playing games from the cloud (Dropbox etc). It is fantastic and rothe the price. A bonus is that it works on my Nexus Player.
It's called VGBAnext now. It has cheats for various Pokemon games: Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Pinball, Red Rescue Team, Ruby, Sapphire.
I don't know, maybe some silly policy violation (e.g. someone claiming copyright on a game screenshot?)
Anyway, it seems to have been replaced by VGBANext which also includes Game Boy (Color) emulation.
Maybe it would be worth contacting the developer and see if you can be given a free copy? Not sure whether the dev would be able to see you bought the original VGBA though.
I had no idea what emulator this was, but found this posted by the creator in a comment to a reviewer.

GBAnext is a good, gba, gbc, gb emulator. Never had any issues with it.
VGAnext. The emulator is good, but this "material design" is ridiculous.
