I guess just wait. There aren't many improvements in MIUI 13, just a lot of bugs.
The major thing is Android 12 and there are almost no changes to the UI whatsoever. Just the Android 12 changes, button sounds (which you probably don't even use), notifications and maybe something else.
It also sets a default wallpaper, so if you have a custom set wallpaper, save it, because the MIUI 13 update will remove it. You can save it by this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.alroe.apps.WallpaperSaverFree
/data/system/users/0/
it's not a jpg file, it doesn't have a format. I'm not familiar with tasker but I hope it's able to move every new wallpaper, rename it and add an extension to it..
if not, I recommend using this App.
Hi there. My apologies for your loss. Unfortunately, /r/Android isn't the best place for this kind of question. Since I don't know which version of Android your grandpa's tablet is running, I can't tell you where exactly the background image is stored, as it seems to change from version to version, but perhaps an app such as this one will help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.alroe.apps.WallpaperSaverFree
If not, try posting your question in /r/AndroidQuestions. Best of luck.
Youre right, there isn't a way to save them....I instead set it as my wallpaper and used This to download them and then use them in klwp

The image is located in internal memory, but you can't access that folder without root. Above app doesn't require root.
This should do the trick.
If this is your current wallpaper you can save it with Wallpaper Saver or a similar app.
Tip: 1) Apply the wallpaper on your home screen 2) You can use an app to save your home screen wallpaper

This app will grab it
This app says in its description that it can retrieve your current wallpaper. It or a related app might work for you.

I used an app called wallpaper saver a while back that worked great for this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.alroe.apps.WallpaperSaverFree
Ok, here is the answer:
Without root it's not possible to find out what the current wallpaper filename is inside the 'data' folder on the device, cause you can't see in there.
So, there's an app someone wrote to solve the problem.
The basic info on the whole wallpaper issue can be found here.
The app solution can be found here, and it seems it saves the current and previous wallpaper paths to somewhere that is accessible on the device each time it is changed. Can also sync etc.
And a screen from the app showing how it can simply revert back to the previous wallpaper with a simple menu click which seems to solve your problem.
not sure of the cause, but this has happened to me too.
I think it's another bug of One UI.
I had to re-apply my lock screen wallpaper and that fixed it. So far hasn't happened again.
FWIW I use Wallpaper Saver to back-up and switch between wallpapers for desktop and/or lock screen. It's good! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.alroe.apps.WallpaperSaverFree
