Wifi File Explorer.
You can transfer a folder all at once and it constructs a zip on the fly when you do so. (is received on your PC as a zip file).

WiFi File Explorer. Don't have to plug in my phone to the computer anymore, I can just do file transfers wirelessly. Pretty rad.
And of course Titanium Backup is indispensable if you have root.
I've used this app (Android) for moving files to & from my Xbox One. May not be the only app that can do this, but it has worked for me. However, I have not yet tried with the Series X|S
Would you pay $1?

Turn your phone into a file server that any one with a web browser on the same wifi network can get in and upload/download files.
It sucks they removed the file explorer but there is an Android app I've used for a while that works well. No problems reading & saving to both internal & external storages. (WiFi file explorer (PRO version link - but I'm sure most file explorers/managers will work similarly)
I chose this one. When you run it, it will generate a phone hosted web page you can browse to over your WiFi network - view, download, upload, delete... your files.

Wifi File Explorer works well, I've used to to transfer the entire mame romset (23GB of small files) to my forge tv as well as other files afer ES file explorers samba transfers and others kept crapping out partway through, start the app up on your android tv and you and access your files through a web browser interface with drag and drop file transfers to your android TV.

I dont know enough about your device or what youre connecting it to to give a definitive answer. Maybe you could see them if you move (temporarily) your photos to another folder outside of DCIM. You may have to trigger a media scan after you move them (reboot).
Some other methods would be networking related, like FTP or using a [http fileserver app])https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dooblou.WiFiFileExplorerPRO) from the play store. You could always upload them to a cloud service too
Wifi File Transfer, will show up dozens of options in the play store. Some free, but often not completely free.
I love this one personally, but I'm sure there are better ones.
