I personally don't really like them; not sure why so many people recommend them. Didn't feel very authentic to me, felt kind of cringy and contrived. That said, whatever works for a person is what they should use.
I much preferred The Universe Is a Dream: The Secrets of Existence Revealed as an introduction to the course and its concepts.
I think doing the workbook more than once is fine. Ken Wapnick also mentions that 'let me do it a second time, this time perfectly' is your ego talking, but he does say that you'd have to read most things in ACIM more than once to get it.
Yes the lessons are quite hard, you can try to set reminders on your phone if you like. But if you fail to do it perfectly it's a great forgiveness opportunity. I've stopped judging myself for forgetting the lessons, and keep moving to the next one even if the previous one didn't feel "perfect". On some days I've forgotten about the lesson for almost the entire day, but still moved to the next one the next day. This seems to work for me. The reality is all 365 lessons point to the same truth, you do one perfectly and you've done them all.
tl;dr: try to do it perfectly, but forgive yourself for not managing it.
Edit: Here are Ken Wapnick's views on doing the lessons more than once, which I feel are often quoted out of context: https://youtu.be/Y-IN1edJlvU
Also for android I feel this is a wonderfully gentle reminder to do the lesson of the day. You can set it to remind you at whatever intervals are needed for the day... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.mindbell
From The Complete Edition :-
If you are struggling to remember to do your lessons, an ACIM app might be useful to remind you to do them. Of course the ultimate aim is not to use such devices but they can be very helpful at the beginning when we are not so willing.
I haven't used any of them, but there are plenty on Google Play that you might want to have a look at.

Welcome to ACIM and r/ACIM. Which edition of ACIM are you reading? The Complete Edition is much more accessible and feels a lot lighter than the FIP.
All the best with your study and practice of the Course. God bless you. ❤️🙏😇
Hi, u/ToniGM, thanks for the review. It is really confusing as for a new students it's a bit hard to pick - but I guess I will start simple and use the official version as you recommended to me.
But just to clarify, the FIP version contain both the text, workbook and the teachers manual, right?
this is the correct one, right? - https://www.amazon.com/course-Miracles-Foundation-Inner-Peace/dp/1883360269
Also, I DO want to make sure that I come from agnostic background (bored in Israel as jewish, but wasn't a religious family at all).
If you are after stories on how people live their lives with ACIM, check out the Cameo essays in the Appendix of the Complete Edition, they are accounts of how Helen Schucman live ACIM while she was scribing for Jesus.
If you like Biblical stories, check out From Plagues to Miracles, it is reading the Exodus from the perspective of ACIM.
>the official FIP version is closer to what Jesus intended.
Borrowing from your last question: How would you know what he intended? I don't think it's a black-and-white issue, and I think most students who read multiple versions of ACIM would hesitate to draw such hard conclusions without closer study.
Helen was notorious for over-editing everything. She insisted that references to sex be removed, despite sex being "an area which the miracle worker must understand" according to the second paragraph after the CoA's 46th miracle principle. In fact, she wanted to generalize everything. Yet there are so many anecdotes and specific direction in the CoA version that that helped clarify the messages of ACIM.
But both sides have good arguments, including Wapnick in the Absence From Felicity, as you mentioned, and Perry in his remarks in the CoA edition. Perhaps more notable are the arguments of FIP Co-President, Dr. Robert Rosenthal ("Doctor Bob"), in the CoA Edition's top rated review on Amazon. I suggest you read his whole review.
This has been an ongoing debate for many years, and it doesn't have to be the heated one some students make it out to be. I think it's good to keep both versions handy, as neither is meant to be some immutable source of truth, but books to be studied and used.
Edit: typo.
love.love.love doesn't seem to be a website. Maybe it should be.
Minecraft is a 'voxel' game. You live in a world that consists almost entirely of cubic metre blocks. That may seem boring, but as with ACIM, it's all about content, not form.
The basics are reasonably easy to grasp (at least compared to things like EveOnline), but the possibilities, even when you know what all the items do, are endless. I've been playing on and off for 8 years and have never run out of things to do.
I wrote a short gameplay overview a while back, if that helps. It's not super well written and may miss a lot of things. I tend to forget to include appropriate context.
Others know much more about the differences than I. It's a complicated (and hotly debated) subject. This is the only one I read but I like it a lot. I guess it's less edited than some versions (FACIM?), but not as verbose as the one with the extra commentary. Some day I'll read the one with extra commentary. The paper format of this is portable and I wrote notes and underlined all over it. Also, you might be able to get a link to the audio files in PM, but it's against rules to post it.

Thanks for sharing this! The whole writing is very helpful and flowing, and the Star Wars synchronicity is very cool! I love that quote as seeing our indebtedness to each other as an avenue of freedom - who knew Han had it in him? Lol.
For anyone interested in more ACIM and Star Wars intersectionality, check out the chapter I wrote in "A Course in Miracles And ...", titled "What Does the Force Have in Common with Jesus’ Love?"
I was introduced to Rupert Spira in the book: An End to Upside Down Thinking. The Science behind Oneness
Amen. Just sent my twin flame the book. By my gurus Jeff and Shaleia ! I love them so much they saved my union with my twin flame! I felt called to send it to him in my heart since we’re one consciousness. I’ve read it. I’m always reading it! He’s currently locked up. I’m doing the inner work in the mean time around him being locked up.
This isn't from ACIM but from a book called the Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament, which was scribed by an ACIM student. It's an incredible resource and in my opinion, every course student should have a copy.
I'm not sure if we're allowed to post links to Amazon here, but here it is:
https://www.amazon.com/Holy-Spirits-Interpretation-Testament-Understanding-ebook/dp/B005KSGFQ0
This is the book I was reading at that time. It is by Van Tharp. It is rather dated now. https://www.amazon.com.au/Trade-Your-Way-Financial-Freedom-ebook/dp/B00511ONK6
You can always let the Holy Spirit direct you in your trading.
The CoA edition is great. Love it! But the FIP edition is also very useful.
There is a great review of the CoA editon by Dr Bob who was actually the chairperson of the FIP. It is the top review on Amazon :- The Complete Edition
Yes, to let go is to forgive.
But in the context of the line you cited, where it says "Holy Spirit forgives..." forgiveness is actually referring to correction.
This contextual meaning is much more clear in The Complete Edition as that line appears at the end of the previous paragraph (in the FIP edition) rather at the start of a new paragraph by itself.
> 8 The Holy Spirit in you forgives all things in you and your brother. His errors are forgiven with yours. Atonement is no more separate than love. It cannot be separate, because it comes from love. Any attempt you make to correct a brother means that you believe correction by you is possible, and this can only be the arrogance of the ego. Correction is of God, Who does not know of arrogance. The Holy Spirit forgives everything because God created everything. Do not undertake His function, or you will forget yours.
Yes certainly. Give your hands over to God and let Him work miracles through you.
This passage comes from the opening of The Complete Edition
But don't stop at just the hands, give everything that is yours over to God so that God can give you everything that is His.🙏😇
Some ACIM books are very thick.. .this one is easy to carry and make notes in even. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0976420074/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've a list containing free options as well. Happy learning.
I agree everything is composed of consciousness, but I disagree that everything is equally conscious or has the same experience. Examine the claim that someone locked in a cage has an equal consciousness as someone who is free to live as nature intended. It's similar to the difference of consciousness of animals who are locked in cages their whole life in factory farms compared to the consciousness of plants that are free to grow as they naturally grow.
Also, one can eat fruits and nuts which are plucked from the plants without killing them in a similar way to cutting the nails or trimming the hair of humans. This is a very different conscious experience than slaughtering an animal after it has lived a life in a cage. I think eating animal products is less of an ethical if one hunts them in the wild after they lived a natural life of joy or at least animals that aren't locked in cages their whole life, but it is still less harmful to the consciousness of other beings to avoid eating animal products all together, in my opinion.
I recommend this book if anyone is interested in learning more about examining this topic from a spiritual perspective: https://www.amazon.com/Lessons-Living-Lemuria-Balancing-Nutrition/dp/B084DH5KJ6
The first line of the dictation Schucman recorded in the Notes [...]
“You will see miracles through your hands through Me!”
That is how the Course originally began.
That line, which was edited out of later versions, was simply
moved down a bit in the Urtext as the Scribes followed the editing
instructions “it is crucial to say FIRST that this is a required Course
…” They followed that instruction and put that part first. Here in
the Urtext the entire instruction is preserved, while in later versions
the words of instruction “it is crucial to say first that” were removed,
and probably quite appropriately.
> The christian terminology (as well as the purely masculine language) is going to take some getting used to (for me - the wife of the OP :). as i mentioned in another post here, i understand that this is potentially part of the process. (gulp.)
Yes the language might take some getting used to, but they're just symbols pointing to a truth that is beyond bodies or gender, to the one genderless Spirit that we are.
> the part that we are wondering about are the interpretations of others that "may be useful at the start" and who those others might be. this is not meant as a substitute for the 'real deal'.
You don't have to make the decision yourself. You can open your mind to guidance even now and let the Holy Spirit decide for you.
> admittedly, i am confused re: the various editions - is the "complete edition" the same as the Foundation for Inner Peace version?
They are different editions published by different organisations. The Complete Edition is published by the Circle of Atonement rather than the FIP. The CE has much more material than the FIP edition, but it is missing the Song of Prayer and Psychotherapy pamphlets which you can get here: https://acim.org/acim/en/
It is always highly recommended that anyone interested in ACIM read and study ACIM for themselves because very purpose of ACIM is to help us develop our relationship with Jesus or the Holy Spirit directly rather than through some human teacher.
While other people's interpretations of ACIM may be useful at the start. It is no substitute for studying ACIM yourself as every author interprets ACIM differently depending on where they're on the journey and what they have to teach may not be what you have you learn. Jesus or the Holy Spirit on the other hand always teach you exactly what you needed to learn.
I also recommend The Complete Edition of ACIM because it is much more accessible to beginners as it's tone is warm and conversational.
There's no best way. I found the one I like most personally after trying a bunch of kinds. Learning different meditation techniques is a fun journey. This is the one I settled on. https://www.amazon.com/Through-Doors-Perception-Heaven-Meditation/dp/0979599563
Thanks! That looks like the PDF of the version I got, which is this one ! It was the only one for sale that I could find, although I really didn’t look that hard lol.
There is a "plain english translation" which substitutes the theological language:
https://www.amazon.com/Message-Course-Miracles-Translation-Language/dp/1846943191
Though, I find it really detracts from the poetic impact... u/SpecialOk770 really hit the nail imho
This graphic novel might have concepts that go over the head of a ten year old, but she'll find plenty in here to ponder and plenty to slowly work on her mind.
Alexander Marchand has quite a few graphic novels based on ACIM teachings. They aren't directed at pre-teens but I think they're accessible depending on the kid.
The work of Helen and ACIM are part of the celestial speed-up. Here's how she explains it as recounted in The Complete Edition :-
> I was given a sort of mental “explanation,” though, in the form of a series of related thoughts that crossed my mind in rapid succession and made a reasonably coherent whole. According to this “information” the world situation was worsening to an alarming degree. People all over the world were being called on to help, and were making their individual contributions as part of an overall, prearranged plan. I had apparently agreed to take down A Course in Miracles as it would be given me. The Voice was fulfilling its part in the agreement, as I would fulfill mine. I would be using abilities I had developed very long ago, and which I was not really ready to use again. Because of the acute emergency, however, the usual slow, evolutionary process was being by-passed in what might be described as a “celestial speed-up.” I could sense the urgency that lay behind this “explanation,” whatever I might think about its content. The feeling was conveyed to me that time was running out. (41)
I highly recommend The Complete Edition for beginners as it is much more accessible than the FIP edition. The main difference between the 2 editions is that the first 5 chapters of the CE is in a warm and friendly tone, and practical examples are often given to illustrate the principles presented, whereas the FIP has been edited to be terse and abstract which can makes it come across rather cryptic.
Both editions have the Text, Workbook and Manual.
You can also read the FIP in its entirety completely for free online before deciding if you want to buy it or the CE. https://acim.org/acim/en
If you like the Course but find the free online versions difficult, I recommend buying the The Complete Edition, as its first five chapters are much approachable, otherwise they are the same.🥰
You can read it here online if you like. https://acourseinmiraclesnow.com/
Or you can buy it as a book too. https://www.amazon.com/COURSE-MIRACLES-Handwritten-Schucman-Complete-Annotated/dp/1886602395
We do have the mind for what ACIM teaches, because the "non-duality" that it teaches is Who we are in truth. But that doesn't mean ACIM is the only curriculum for everyone here within the dream, it is just one of thousand forms of the Holy Spirit's universal curriculum.
You might find the NTI, the Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament more accessible as it much simpler and have a narrower focus compared to ACIM, even though it still teaches a non-dualistic reality.
> I think the third edition is the most accurate as determined by Helen.
Helen had no say in the 2nd or 3rd FIP edition because she died well before they were published. She was only involved in the first edition. Ken Wapnick put out the 2nd edition after Helen died and he came into possession of her hand written notes and realized that there was pages missing from the first edition. The errata for the 2nd edition was about 40 pages long. The 3rd edition is just the 2nd edition with reference numbers and the two pamphlets added.
The The Complete Edition is the most accurate pertaining to Helen's hand written notes.
Passage comes from NTI 1 Corinthians, Chapter 11 in Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament
(v 17 – 26) 1 Remember Me in all things and in all that you do. 2 Remember that I am your truth, and I am the one within you who does not lose sight of your true desire. 3 While you may still lose sight, give all things to Me. 4 In this way, you are led consistently in the direction of your truth. 5 Hold nothing back from Me. 6 Do not feel you need to handle anything yourself. 7 For to feel you must handle anything yourself is to believe that we are not one and that I can want what you do not want. 8 Let go of your desire to have things your way by remembering that your way, separate from Me, is illusion. 9 That way is no way. 10 Surrender that way, and become an empty shell.
The body is not the cause of your experiences, killing it won't change anything. To change your experience you have to change your mind. Because only the mind has power of causation. We change our minds by choosing the Holy Spirit as taught in ACIM.
From the experiences you said you had below, I'd say you have indeed experienced yourself beyond the body, but by it is only the doubts of the ego that makes you think it is brain hallucination.
This is how the Holy Spirit interprets your passage from the Bible in Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament. It means we lay down the thoughts that are not useful to us.
NTI 1 Corinthians, Chapter 5 (v 1 – 5)1Jesus told you that if your hand leads you to sin, cut off your hand. 2And if your eye leads you to sin, cut out your eye. 3This is what he meant by that:
4Within your mind, there are many thoughts. 5As long as you seem to be within illusion, there will be thoughts, because illusion is thought. 6But within the world of illusion, there are thoughts that lead you to put belief in illusion and thoughts that lead you to let go of these beliefs.
7The thoughts that lead you to believe in illusion are ego thoughts. 8They are the thoughts that are based on the judgment that what is was made different, and so what is different is what is real.
9The thoughts that lead you from illusion are the Holy Spirit’s thoughts. 10They are based on knowledge that reality cannot be changed. 11They call you to lay down fantasy and to again acknowledge what has always been true.
12You are asked to realize that both systems of thought are in your mind now. 13And you are asked to remember that you want to know the truth. 14Therefore, lay down the thoughts that lead you to believe in illusion. 15They are not useful to your purpose. 16They are not helpful to you now.
The passage comes from Luke 10 in the NTI, the Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament.
You may be interested in the Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New Testament. It is based on ACIM because it is ACIM but being taught via the New Testament. And like ACIM, the NTI is channeled directly from the Holy Spirit. Even though it is presented as an interpretation of the NT, it is actually quite usable just by itself. Every passage offers easy, clear and precise instructions on how to apply course principles to our seeming lives in the world. It might be much more accessible and immediate to some beginning or returning students compared to ACIM itself.

I had a flash of insight one day, where for but a moment I realized with absolute clarity that the things I perceived could not conceivably be separate from me. Once I had that realization, I sought an explanation that would help me integrate and utilize that realization, which promptly lead me to the book The Universe Is a Dream. That was my introduction to the course.
At the time I thought that the realization was the end of the dream, but apparently I underestimated my investment in the dream world and my resistance to the insight that had flashed across my mind. I'm still working on accepting that truth completely.
This book is helpful.

It points out a lot of the distractions we prop up as further than they are. It does not go as far as the course, but is written in much plainer language.
This is what Jesus had to say about the Bible in ACIM from the Complete Edition. Only references to love should read literally, all else should be treated allegorically. In ACIM terms evil spirits, demons, Satan are all just different manifestations of our wrong mind which is called the ego.
Only love should be taken literally, everything else is to be taken allegorically. This is how ACIM advises us to read the Bible from that earlier quote.
You might what to check out From Plagues to Miracles. This explains the Exodus from the perspective of ACIM. It is written by Dr Bob who is the Chair of the FIP.
The book letting go is fantastic for this, I would see it's even more powerful than ACIM for me compliments it quite nicely. https://www.amazon.com/Letting-David-Hawkins-M-D-Ph-D/dp/1401945015
