I so far I created 2 genes: One is creating headscarves (and deleting bodies) and the other is giving portraits a green skin and dark her for my Orc and Ephaba needs. It really depends on what you try to achieve. I tried to create a gene that would make any portrait look directly at the camera and failed miserably....
Thanks! This animation was 2 seconds per image (at 24 frames per second) for a total of 2,974 frames. Then i ran it through Flowframes to increase frame rate from 24 > 96fps, to a total of 23k frames. Then in Premiere Pro i slowed it down to give each image more time. I used music and effect stock footage from Pixabay and lastly added the smooth zooming/panning to give motion and then tweaked colors and added subtle film grain. This was simple test project but it definitely has potential. Broken up into smaller chunks this style could work for TV intro/outro credit sequence or perhaps a short film or video game. Artbreeder is absolutely incredible and i only began using it probably 3 days ago and already made hundreds of images. There's infinite possibilities to add story elements and animations incorporating images like these. I'm gonna upgrade my subscription to allow more frames to be rendered ;)
Nice creations!
The "key" is the number that is in the URL (address) for a web page when you edit your image. Take this web page URL for example:
https://artbreeder.com/i?k=a8ff0737de26d908a929d4f0
In the above, the key is this: a8ff0737de26d908a929d4f0
I use ArtBreeder in a browser window on my laptop, where it is easy to copy and paste the browser page's URL. Grabbing the URL from a cell phone browser is sometimes a little bit more finicky.
It is kind of a pain, but you can use breeding to get rid of this image artifact. Here is an example lineage of mine that shows how it can be done:
https://artbreeder.com/lineage?k=9cfc7539ce1b125cdcddee6d2112
You can retain the Style, but you have to allow the Face to be changed. I make a bunch of variations of the original portrait, and then keep those that have less of the problem. I breed those together in a second round, also keeping those with the least problem. Repeat until done.

The portraits section of Artbreeder received an update about a week or two ago which makes portraits much more detailed than the portraits that we've known until now. The problem is, the new and the old versions are incompatible.
Your the OP, you tell me. Just because I know what ArtBreeder can’t do, does not mean I know what app was used to create this.
As far as I know only https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ creates these types of glitches. If this is an ArtBreeder image that you created, please provide a key.
Just started making genes yesterday. Here’s some of mine.
I made one for elf ears but it makes the hair shorter. Couldn’t find enough images with elf ears and long hair, but I may keep trying and make another version.
Did some blue hair/eyes and pink hair/eyes and an alien one.
This is easier, now that custom genes have been added.
You can try out some of my custom genes, Curly Hair, Long Hair, and Bald:

If anyone else has created custom genes for hair, I hope you will share them here!
I have a fix for this!
I made a custom gene that I call "Smear Top". If you use the gene on a regular portrait, it causes this smearing at the top. If you start with a smeared portrait and use the gene with a negative value, it gets rid of the smear. Unfortunately it can distort the face somewhat, so it is not perfect.
You can try it out by adding the custom gene from the bottom my genes page:

Please let me know if it works for you.
This was sorta difficult lol. I used Morphs picture that they posted for a start since it really wasn’t too far off. Heck I thought it looked pretty good. It’s pretty difficult and time consuming to do this especially when the picture isn’t from a high quality upload lol. Not sure if it’s good enough but here’s mine
The easiest way to make a male with long-hair I found was to give them facial hair. Though that can result in them kinda looking like Jesus. Here's my one, if you're curious.
Bringing in portraits like this one could help (if you don't want to add a beard) as it has a very masculine face, but the long hair still, so the AI is unlikely to try and remove the hair.
Just because they claim to be Copywrite free doesn't mean all those Trump/Hitler mashups are fair game for publishing houses.
I think you are safe for any of the monster mashups in the "general" category.
For example, this "pineapple" I made is a great monster face, but almost certainly contains fragments of copywritten pictures of real pineapples. I will use the picture and have no fear.
The upload suggestion is good. Here's another thing you can try. Find an image that has very green eyes. Here's an example: https://artbreeder.com/i?k=35d5f4723da9960c56c6
Mix the two images, keeping your face all the way on the left side of the bar and mix in the style of the other image until you get the green you want, then use the hair/ethnicity sliders to get the rest of the style back to where you want it.
I find I'm mostly into the portraits, and using really bright colors. Don't really care about realism as much. Most of the photos tend to not have much of an expression, so I also like to try to capture some emotions if I can - but there's a balance there too given the source material. Glasses are cool. Hair is cool.
The new landscape stuff is fun too though. Here's my profile if interested. I recognize your id and I'm pretty sure I've worked with some of your source images. https://artbreeder.com/bellydrop
Sure, here. For future's sake, you can reach a specific image by pasting its file name at the end of an artbreeder link, since they're named after the ID by default.
That is the img src, by image key on this reddit what we mean is what are the number/letters that are in the url after the i?k=
so this url,
https://artbreeder.com/i?k=438e8e7873822fb32597
the key would be
438e8e7873822fb32597
You have to ask the person or look on the site. It's the last number of the web address.
For example:
https://artbreeder.com/i?k=e4777c8c54deb96caf7b
The "key" is after "k=" and in this example is "e4777c8c54deb96caf7b".
It's definitely made for some interesting pictures
It also has some serious limitations in rendering a uploads with wide open mouths. It may look like an open mouth but when you mix it you can see where the system is thinking the actual mouth is versus shadows or other features.
