Have you heard of Lily Nichols? She wrote a book called “Real Food for gestational diabetes”- you can get a kindle version for 10 bucks. She is brilliant and very research based.
https://www.amazon.ca/Real-Food-Gestational-Diabetes-Conventional/dp/0986295000
It’s a bit alternative to the conventional approach, but soooo good. She has has a second book as well and a blog- you can check out the first three chapters of her second book out for free and see what you think!
Try and find out what your hospital provides - try and find someone through local subreddits or local Facebook groups, because it really widely varies.
I'd bought adult diapers and didn't end up wanting to wear them. I used the rest of the maxi pads for the first few days I was home, then switched to always infinity long pads.
I'd wish I'd bought a sitz bath - my hospital did not provide one. I got these ice packs which were nice because of the shape. I made padsicles and ended up hating them - these ice packs were so much better.

I bought this along with a wedge to help with hip pain.
I really liked these during pregnancy. I ordered them a size up from my pre pregnancy size. I found they were super comfy, not too tight, not too loose. And they are still comfy and getting some good use now during post partum while my body is still changing

I have the Thule Urban Glide 2. Its amazing. It goes anywhere over almost any terrain and through winter with ease. It's also a great stroller that your little one will be able to grow into for a few years!
There is a universal carseat adapter you can buy for it that fits a ton of infant carseats. I included the link down below, the list of compatible seats is in the pictures.
I have a Chicco Keyfit 30 seat and bought the specific adapter made for that seat and everything worked great. Extremely snug and secure for nice walks with a newborn!
Hope this helps!

Why don’t you try something like this - https://www.amazon.ca/Ingenuity-Baby-Base-2-Seat/dp/B07QT69CYL?th=1&psc=1
It’s not foldable but has a pretty small footprint. You can strap it to a chair to use as a high chair or you can just use it as a chair on the floor. The tray is removable and the price point is very reasonable too!!! It also functions as a booster seat for a toddler once they’re older.
Simple Wishes pumping bra in size L plus!! I’m a 42L, and it fits me with room to spare. It’s Velcro so totally adjustable. I’ve been EPing for almost 4 months and definitely couldn’t do it without this bra!
Edit - I just checked my bra and 42L US is the same as UK 42HH! So exactly the sane size as you :)

I’m planning to buy this 2.5 TOG Kyte Baby sleep sack.
Baby sleeps so well on the 1.0 TOG sleep sack we have and they are very soft and cozy.
I got 10 of these and loved them. They are quite low cut but I'm still wearing them postpartum.
Could this work? fancy latch thingy
You can buy Snappies from a few places, including Amazon, but this website has good options for quantities.
Ginger is one of the more clearly safe options in pregnancy!
Also, if you want more earl grey and without caffeine, I found this company and I really like their decaf Earl Grey. Davidson's Earl Grey Decaf on Amazon.ca
https://www.amazon.ca/Queen-Rose-Pregnancy-Shaped-Maternity/dp/B01B5ITZ4M
I love this one. I didn’t pay full price, it was on sale when I purchased. It’s soft which is how I prefer my pillows, feels nice to have between my knees and I tuck it right into my back and it’s very supportive back there.
I bought a Burts Bee “beekeeper” sleep sack (0.5 tog) on Amazon.ca for around $26 but it looks like the price went up?! I checked Amazon.com for you and they ship to canada for a reasonable price! I love the beekeeper sleepsack, the cotton is so soft 🥰Burts Bee beekeeper
I was curious and looked it up too. Is it the shape that they like? Maybe you could try these similar ones:

How long did it take for the Avent to warm up the bottle? This is the one we got. For example, our kettle is stove top and takes at least 5 minutes to boil usually. Does the Avent take that long? I got it because I liked how compact it is and that I don't have to boil the kettle (and have it whistle).
It's pricy, but it stays on the handles well and I find the way the clips are it keeps it fairly even (ie it doesn't sit on a angle).
Drinks that are very full sometimes spill, but usually I don't have an issue.
I have the spectra S2 and really like it. I also didn't need portability so chose S2 since there's no battery, just plug in and at the time of purchase that made it cheaper.
I got mine via amazon.com and at the time the cost with exchange and duty (which Amazon includes at purchase) was only about 10$ CAD more than other shipping options.
That was in March. Here's a link to where I bought it. There's a Canadian Amazon store where you can get replacement parts which I haven't needed. I supplemental pump multiple times a day.

They are nice and soft and breathable but the cups arent very generous I found, I wear them for lounging about the house, they don't have any plastic or hard bits, just soft stetchy material. I quite like them.
I have a bunch of second-hand clothes that were recently gifted to me (29 weeks) and what I ended up doing was sorting them by age and then vacuum sealing them so they will stay dust and cat hair free and so they don't take up too much space in my little apartment. This is what I used and they work like a dream for all kinds of linens.
It was this one https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Baby-USA-Rechargeable-Electric/dp/B00DBKFFJM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=spectra+s1&qid=1615437404&sr=8-3 but I had to watch and wait for it to come in stock. I really like the Lataly Bras on Amazon. I wear 40F, and they've been comfortable.
I try not to buy from Amazon needlessly, but these under the belly panties treated me very well. I ended up with a c-section and they were perfect to let my incision breathe while I recovered. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B071H7LT4C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_N5SPFb8F6HGG3
We had a carseat fleece cover and a couple of the inexpensive carter's fleece outfits in 0-3 month and 3-6 month. You don't tend to go out with babies very much except to doctor's appointments and even less so right now. I used a coat extender to wear under my coat if we were walking in the beginning. The expensive stuff will be good for next year when they are moving more.
Edit: For stroller rides I skipped the snowsuit and just used a 7am enfant stroller footmuff. It worked well when we were going from indoor space to indoor space and I used it through age three.
Interesting, we also got the Jolly Jumper one (unless there are multiple models?) and liked the quality way better (sturdier and stays in position better) than the handmedown one I got from a friend.
And yeah, carseat is on the passenger side, mirror is attached to the centre seat headrest so not directly in front of the baby.
Yes I did! I was waiting a few days to try it out and see if I liked it. I got the Homiee off Amazon. It came in 2 days (I have prime) and I've been using it day and night since. I honestly really like it! I picked it for a few reasons 1) price. Its hard to find the features of the Mila without spending $200+. I figured this was only $60 more than the Mila. 2) its compatible with numerous cameras (not all the cameras that are even $200 can do that. 3) it can zoom in (omg i love this feature) 4) the range is the same as the Mila (i often sit on my back deck and tinker in my garden once my little one is asleep and it reaches with no issues 5) it has the same lullaby features, two walk talk as the mila 6) lastly it has various level detection alarms (sometimes i use it, sometimes not, its nice to have the option) and it has a sleep mode with various times
Overall my husband and myself are very happy 😊
I bought mine off of Amazon: Molliya Maternity Long Dress Off Shoulder Elegant Fitted Gown Stretchy Maternity Maxi Dress https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07V9V2BTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dmEZEbNN5GKWG
They had more colours, I got mine in blue. They have a ton of different ones available on Amazon :)
What I did was buy a “half hammock” back cover! So half the back seat is covered for the dog and the other part has the baby seat. You should be able to find one on amazon. This is the one I have. Pricey, but I haven’t had a single issue with it and a year out it’s held up extremely well. https://www.amazon.ca/Kurgo-01783-Heather-Half-Hammock/dp/B01MU7O40P
Distraction is a really common issue at 3 months.
I haven't personally read this book, but I've seen others highly recommend it regarding bottle refusal: https://www.amazon.ca/Your-Babys-Bottle-feeding-Aversion-Solutions-ebook/dp/B076PWRHH2
We love our one! The Stars can be set to fade in and out. It's so peaceful to sit and rock her to sleep with it.
CIMELR Northern Lights Aurora... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09QZNMVFC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Does he like dinosaurs? My son has a set very similar to these take apart dinosaur toys, and he loves figuring out how the screws work and taking pieces off and reattaching. Especially if he's into construction then this could be a win.
If you watch YouTube through a browser, simply download an extension "AdBlocker". It's free and it eliminates all the ads on YouTube and tries hard on other websites (articles, online magazines, etc.) https://adblockplus.org/adblock-plus-chrome
We like the Yogasleep Whish so much we bought a second one for our room when kiddo moved into his own space. We also have travel battery operated one (which we could have gotten away with since it can run from USB, but had the other one first).
I use a Google nest cam along with a audio baby monitor with dual parent units(similar to this https://www.amazon.com/VTech-DM112-2-Indicator-Digitized-Transmission/dp/B017UIR9F8)
The audio monitor gives me full coverage in the front and back yard, basement too. The feedback is instantaneous and it's 100% reliable. I never missed a cry as there were never any issues with radio connectivity. Since there are 2 parent units, either each parent can carry each unit or just leave them connected to a charger and place them on 2 floors. Units are loud enough cannot be missed.
You can use any IP camera too with motion detection, however, anything wifi only is not a good idea as there are multiple points of potential failures. If the camera needs cloud access then it becomes more unreliable as a primary monitor.
I use a $30 diaper backpack and love it. It's super light, has pockets to keep bottles cool, back access and interior pockets for storing lots of things. Looking back I'm thankful I don't have to carry a bag on one shoulder or having spent a hundred or more dollars.
Love love love my muifa diaper backpack from Amazon. I paid like $35 for it. They don’t appear to have the exact one but there’s lots of look-alikes:
I see a ton of them out in the wild. I have a more expensive skip hop one that I hate :-)
I really like these
Smallshow 3 Pcs Maternity Nursing... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B078W62YYD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
They are comfortable and still looks nice after many washes (I have some besrsland shirts too but I feel they have faded a bit) while they did fit when I was pregnant they don’t look like maternity shirts.
Currently on the hunt for some cold weather options too. Ordered two long sleeve shirts from H&M but they aren’t here yet.
I bought some nursing t-shirts off amazon. The brand is Bearsland. They also have some light knit long sleeve t-shirts. Both options are really comfy. The ad recommends ordering one size up from your usual size, but I ordered my regular t-shirt size and it was fine.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B3D9G43G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share ad says maternity, but the shirts are not loose around the abdomen. I'm back to my pre-pregnancy size and they fit like regular t-shirts.
Make sure the phone charger has a long cord!
I would get the vomit bags with a one way flow valve (although the hospital would likely provide once you get there). This is the kind I’ve seen at hospital and with paramedics
I would also have a device with some favourite videos already downloaded from Netflix, etc along with headphones. Screentime limits don’t apply when you’re in emerg for 12 hours and cell reception in the hospital is typically
We bought this one on Amazon and my little loves it! Got it at 9 months and he still uses it at 2 yrs. Likes the blocks that came in it and he puts other toys in it and hauls stuff around
labebe Baby Walker with Wheel, Green Car Blocks Trolley, Kid’s Push & Pull Toys for Baby 1-3 Years Toddler Boy & Girl
We use this HelloBaby monitor. It's discounted right now, plus there's a $30 coupon so it's around $100.
I also picked up a cheap audio monitor for travel but when he's in an unfamiliar sleep space, I sometimes prefer to have video.
We got this Vtech one recently for overnight and away from home, and it's great. We like that we can choose the sensitivity level, from hearing every grunt to only hearing when she's crying.
We like our skip hop one. It seems to be made of that shatter proof reflective material but not sure if it’s been crash tested
Get a monitor instead! It’s so much better, and you can actually see baby at night (in a mirror it’s more difficult because the car is dark). I ordered this one from Amazon and it works great.
I have one of these waterproof bed pads meant for Incontinent adults, but they work GREAT for all kinds of baby stuff too. I had it on my bed while maximum pregnant to guard the mattress against waters leaking, I put the baby on it for naked tummy time and it's great for if kids are sick and you need to protect their bed against vomit or poo or whatever. Absorbent and washable. I have 2 now. https://www.amazon.ca/Reusable-Waterproof-Bed-Incontinence-Protection-Elderly/dp/B0834S3HC5/ref=sxts_rp_s_a_1_0?content-id=amzn1.sym.ee88f99e-c50d-460d-bacf-b5958571fb04%3Aamzn1.sym.ee88f99e-c50d-460d-bacf-b5958571fb04&crid=2FW9BGUUVOJ3V&c...
Sure, the exact one I bought is unavailable but there are others on amazon. This is an example .
We used a microwave sterilizer. We loved it because it was so quick, and all the parts of the device itself were dishwasher safe.
Sorry for replying insanely late! I got the safety 1st high chair and my daughter LOVES it. After a year and a half of her screaming every time she was in her Ikea highchair, now she climbs into this one and willingly sits in it! https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B096W3LTJL/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o02\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

my sil lives in Edmonton and had a January baby. she mostly used her stroller and this cover, which she loved
Came here to recommend this one! As well, this one for a thinner option:
We use this one around ours.
I use Soak for my wool knits. I'm happy with it. The scented ones aren't very strong - but there is an unscented option.
Someone had suggested this diaper/multipurpose bag to me. Its 20% off. Are there better suggestions for these type of bags?

I picked up some muslin burp cloths Burp cloths
Also the Baby Brezza sterilizer is on sale baby brezza
We do also use the oogie bear picker...but that is not necessary.
Ahhh okay. I’m glad I asked! I’ve attended a bunch of webinars but still so lost in what kind of medical stuff I need for baby.
Is this the hydra sense one that you use?
This is where I’m at - I went from 32 DD to a 34E/F when I became pregnant, so I got fitted for a wireless sports bra. I was in Australia at the time so got two of these, and they’re excellent!
https://www.amazon.ca/Triumph-Womens-Standard-Triaction-Motion/dp/B07BN1YC43
I used this for colostrum collection. I really loved them, easy to manipulate for sterilizing, collecting and feeding the baby. Freezer friendly and fully reusable.
My baby isn't born yet, but i ordered this thing from Amazon:
It is not as flimsy as those nets that are like a sheet, and should discourage the cats at least giving me some reaction time. From the looks it seems similar to the canape that the Dream on Me has. Then it can be used later as a stroller net too so a double use.
I second Mama/Dada from Jimmy Fallon! I also like the ABC's of series by Chris Ferrie. Here's one! The books grow with your child and I feel like I'm learning stuff too!
We also really like 8 Little Planets -- my son stares transfixed at it!
You don’t need a pampers or Huggies specific one, there’s tons of generic options on the market.
I have this one by Halo and we like it. It was a hand me down from a neighbour and it works for us.
You could also potentially strap your car seat to your bag with this: https://www.amazon.ca/Adjustable-Luggage-Convert-Airport-Stroller/dp/B09PTDTVB3/ref=asc_df_B09PTDTVB3/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=580419832736&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=173648326717039350&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001342&hvtargid=pla-1638306009971&psc=1
But I swear babywearing and then a luggage cart for the rest is the best. We aren't big stroller people, so I tend not to fly with ours. You can gate check your pack n play earlier than the gate sometimes (we've done that every time we fly with our pack n play cuz that thing is heavy. And then going through security, you just have stroller and car seat (& maybe a small carry on if you use that strap). This play also mostly works if you're getting a seat for kiddo (which I'd definitely recommend since 17 month old lap infants are not a fun time).
This is not electric but it’s amazing and worth it. We used to use the nose Frida and hate it. This manual pump nasal aspirator is originally from Asia and doesn’t seem to be available in Canada but you can order it from Amazon US. https://www.amazon.com/Pumpinose-Aspirator-Powerful-Non-invasive-Suction/dp/B0987JV6FT
I have the knix wing woman from before pregnancy but needed a bigger size after I got pregnant and didn't want to shell out so I got this Warner's bra from Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/Warners-Blissful-Benefits-Smoothing-Wirefree/dp/B076D147WL/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?crid=14PTH9HOUIAXR&keywords=warners+bras&qid=1663186788&sprefix=warners%2Caps%2C444&sr=8-10).
It's so similar to the knix one. I think I actually prefer it.
I found one on Amazon.ca that is 100% pure lanolin. So you use is much lower then typical products which have other ingredients. 200g for $20. LINK - LANOLIN
A nursing tank, or a tank like the one linked below under a regular sweater is my preferred approach. A nursing specific sweater seems like a waste of money to me.
https://www.amazon.ca/Naked-Nursing-Tank-Breastfeeding-Layering/dp/B00Q11QW7C?th=1&psc=1
I don't have a toddler but we put a pretty fence around ours to protect it from the dog. Would work for kids too.
I got mine used for $20.
I bath my baby in the kitchen sink. I have a floaty thing like the one below. Once he’s old enough to sit independently we will ditch the floaty and just have him sit in the sink or get one of those seat things for the bath tub.
We used something like this in the early stages: https://www.amazon.ca/Summer-Infant-Height-Center-1-Pack/dp/B0035ER164/ref=sr_1_14?crid=X1ROI192XM7B&keywords=baby+bath&qid=1662055484&sprefix=baby+bath%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-14
We placed it on our large counter so that I didn't have to bend over after my c-section.
They cannot wear their winter jacket in their carseat as it isn't safe. However, you can put on a hat. Fleece pajamas are quite warm. I also recommend a carseat cover. Something like this would work: https://www.amazon.ca/Jolly-Jumper-Arctic-Sneak-Peek/dp/B09MMMWMNS/ref=sr_1_53?crid=DD76IKR8NEXM&keywords=winter+car+seat+cover&qid=1661657921&sprefix=winter+carseat+cove%2Caps%2C129&sr=8-53
The winter is very mild in some places and very ... not mild in others.
I’m sorry that you are feeling uncomfortable with your OB practice. Is this your first baby? I had an OB as well, and saw different doctors in the practice. OB’s are there to ensure your pregnancy is healthy, and if it is, your visits would be fairly quick. Here’s some things that helped me feel more empowered and educated throughout my pregnancy:
Join your Reddit bumper group. Going through pregnancy alongside 2000 other women was so helpful so I knew what to expect, had an outlet for quick questions or support and saw how vastly different all our experiences could be.
I read the Mayo book throughout, so I had a reliable medical source for what to expect at each stage of pregnancy.
I prepped for birth and childcare by watching videos (Covid baby) but if they are offering birthing classes I’d recommend that. Expand your support network with other resources so that you feel supported and have reliable sources for information.
When I went to appointments I reviewed any questions I had with the nurse prior who either answered them for me or noted them in my chart for the OB to address. Then I only had to discuss the most important things with the OB.
If you are looking for additional support, particularly around birth and postpartum, I’d look into a doula.
I really liked Burt’s Bees Belly Butter
Jan and jul has some super cute ones in lots of different colours and patterns. FTM here! Baby is 2 months old.
Are you planning on breastfeeding? I got sooo much gear in preparation for pumping, but turns out BF is going well and haven’t touched any bottles, sterilizer, bottle warmer, breast pump. I got a several pacifiers, baby doesn’t want anything to do with them! We never use the nursery yet, so crib etc can wait.
What I do use:
Changing mat Bugaboo Stardust playard for sleep Baby Björn bouncer Uppababy Cruz stroller Both my wraps (I have the Ergobaby 360 and some Sollybaby ones) The only toys he really loves and “uses” is the Look Look book and the skip hop baby play gym Hydrasens nasal aspirator and Oogiebear (found the fridamom one to be sh*t) Towel for bath time and some Muslin cloths
That’s about it :)
Looking for recommendations for a baby brush or comb. My little one is 7 months old and has fairly long hair (about 3 inches long). I’m looking for a brush that will detangle her fine hair while also being gentle. Also hoping for a brush that can be used for the next couple years. Any suggestions appreciated!
I’ve been considering:
a goat-hair-bristle brush (does this work on detangling longer hair or is it more for peach fuzz?)
Frida head hugging hairbrush + comb
Tangle Teezer (https://www.amazon.ca/Tangle-Teezer-Original-Detangling-Hairbrush/dp/B07VFJZ3V4)
I loved the Milliard Bassinet. It is way bigger than the average bassinet. My son is 98th percentile for height and I'm so glad I got a big bassinet. Most babies outgrow their bassinet really fast due to their length, not their weight. It gets super cramped. This bassinet is big so you can use it way longer than the others. It can also be a sidecar and be beside you one side down and attached to the bed. I got mine from Costco: https://www.amazon.ca/Milliard-Bedside-Bassinet-Breathable-Portable/dp/B08DG7BDXM
I am in love with Happy Baby carriers. They are ridiculously soft and so versatile. Check out the sub /r/babywearing. There are so many different styles of carriers - you may find that a buckle style carrier (e.g. an Ergo) isn't really what you want. I love my Happy Baby: https://happybabycarriers.com/
Hey! Not sure if I’m too late to the party but I have the snoozeshade which is the best. It checks all your boxes except maybe lightweight but it’s not “heavy” by any means. It has a zipper opening on top of the peekaboo flap where you can peek at baby while still covered. The peekaboo flap also has a message that says “I’m too small for germs” or whatever to let people know not to approach. There’s also a zipper mesh cover underneath that if you want more airflow. $45 on Amazon, check it out! https://www.amazon.ca/SnoozeShade-Deluxe-Infant-Canopy-97-5-Percent/dp/B00C7WMQ42
I have one like this and it's great, very lightweight and you can sort of pull it down and open to create a peephole
Wear a Fanny pack to have easy access to your phone/passports/sanitizer. Buy these and attach a toy to your Fanny pack or wrist for baby to play with in your lap. We bought a few new toys like this for the plane and our LO was very interested. We also loved serving cheerios one by one, it took up a lot of time!
I got this one and love it! Lightweight and super comfy. Affordable too!
My mom and brother are really good cooks and live for America's Test Kitchen, the show, cookbooks, magazines, website, etc. They have my their baby and toddlers cookbook and I really like it. Everything from purées to finger foods with tips and suggested products to help.
