No idea how well this thing works, but I was looking for those fans that are made to blow air into your sheets and found this.:
2020 Mattress Cooler Classic - Chilled Mattress Topper Water Cooling System Ideal for Hot Sleepers and Night Sweats - 27"x63" Includes Replacement Pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KPMPVLM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_eE.ZFbZCZ4Z61
Then I found what I was looking for:
BedJet 3 Climate Comfort for Beds, Cooling Fan + Heating Air (Single Temp. Zone Any Size Bed or Mattress) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMCWJ7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_HI.ZFbPG4J9VZ
Can’t say I’ve used either of these devices but the bed fan came to mind when I saw your post. Hope this helps.
Life Extension Melatonin, 300 Mcg, 100 Capsules https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X9QZZ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MJK99F8WPSEVHRGE5B1E
This is the one I use. Make sure it says 300mcg which stands for 300microgram which is 0.3mg. It works great. Take it about 5 hrs before intended sleep time. I take it at 7pm and by 10:30 I’m getting sleepy and by midnight my eyes are shut
I’ve been using these for the past month and they’ve been able to knock me out every time! The recommended dose is 2 gummies but I only eat one. here
Sleep as Android
Cannot recommend it enough. Has to be on the bed w you, not sure how/if it works w multiple people on the bed.
My favorite feature is that you can set an alarm for 6am, but set it so that if you're in a light sleep cycle at 530, the alarm will still go off.

I don’t have a pillow recommendation but I love this Bluetooth speaker/eyeshade combo. I call it being in my sensory deprivation tank.
So for example I could get a frame like this https://www.amazon.com/Best-Price-Mattress-Queen-Frame/dp/B07CVQNKP5/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Slat+Bed+Frame&qid=1671213438&sr=8-3 and a cheap mattress and probably be looking at around 300 total?
There is an extended release melatonin formulation by natrol
I linked the 1 mg but there are also 3mg and 5mg available. Studies show lower doses are better. It may take you a few weeks to adjust to the lower dose! The extended release may help you stay asleep longer
Good luck at your new job!!!
A stone slab would be too heavy for most bed frames if you want some height off the floor. Perhaps something like a bamboo mattress topper that would go over a bed frame which has slats that are close together? https://www.amazon.com/Sleeping-Mattress-Carbonized-Air-Conditioned-Double-Sided/dp/B09BCHPTPM
Just a caution that with no neck support, like you'd get with a pillow, you will start to get neck pain by sleeping on a hard surface. If you sleep on your back, not having your head slightly raised makes it more likely you'll snore or get sleep apnea (your throat is more likely to close if you're laying completely flat).
Mouth breather here. I have found that when I am not taped (mouth breathing), I am in a constant snoring (sleep apnea) adrenaline drip. Results = exhausted.
Our teen boys and I "tape shut" every night. A dentist friend reminded me that:
Mouth breathing - fight or flight mode.
Nose breathing - rest and digest mode.

We also use an old cellphone with a free TMSoft white noise app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tmsoft.whitenoise.full
Sounds weird, but for us it is like sleep magic.
Note: I have worked rotating shift for 40 years. I snored all the time. Found out I was waking up 900 times per night via sleep apnea (mouth breathing with an all night adrenaline drip). Now with taping up and sleep apnea machine I wake up 1 time per sleep period or less.
Update: A years worth for less than $10. I spent a lot of time in the military and my current job where it is completely silent. Now, my hearing is very sensitive. People laugh at me cause I keep a pocket full of these when we go to see a band. Mid way through, they are begging for a pair for themselves. Who's laughing now! LOL
No joke - we were in Richmond checking out a band, and the lead singer saw me putting my ear plugs in. He stopped singing and pointed at me. "... hey! WTF you doing putting in ear plugs? Don't you like our music?" - "I love it, but with a lower volume. Rock on." He gave me a thumbs up.
Just set your alarm clock for full blast.

Get rid of one of those mattresses, and buy one of these to put on top. I heard great things about them.
My choice in two sizes. I currently use the larger one, but used the smaller for about 8 years.

I don’t know how it’s supposed to feel, but I like to feel like my neck is being held by the pillow.
My quest to find a pillow like that has led me to this one from Amazon Anvo Pillow.
I can't sleep without mine! I love it so much. I have a 15 pound blanket and it's perfect (I'm 105 pounds).
This is the one I got several years ago, still going strong:
A long bolster pillow - something like this
Here's a tangentially related article regarding sleep characteristics and modifying them: please excuse the pocket link
That said, the takeaway at the bottom is that if the modification affects your circadian rhythm and detracts from sleep quality too much, it's not worth it.
That said, I don't know what you want to take from that advice. To me, it means that you have plenty to gain from trying to find a replacement and wean yourself off. But there is certainly a limit.
Do update us if you find a resolution
It also hugely matters when you wake up during the sleep cycle. If you sleep for three hours you might be right at the end of a sleep cycle because you woke up on your own.
However, if an alarm wakes you up after 9 hours you might be in the middle of a cycle. You will feel really groggy and stuff because you weren't "ready" to get up.
"Waking up during light sleep feels like waking up naturally rested without an alarm clock."
It's an app called Sleep Cycle. It tracks your movements and breathing patterns during sleep.
However, I don't understand the aim of this post. It looks a pretty decent night of sleep...
There’s an app called Calm
It has meditations, awesome sleep stories and music for sleeping and/or meditation. They have guided meditations for panic attacks, chronic pain, insomnia just to name a few.
There are a ton of sleep stories read by celebrities. One of my favorite narrators is Eva Green, the actress that’s in Casino Royale and Penny Dreadful. Matthew McCoughney, Jerome Flynn from GOT also narrate.
Anywho, I SWEAR by this app. It’s helped me with anxiety and it definitely helps with my insomnia. Honestly, I cant sleep without it.
I definitely recommend checking it out. I also use to hate nature sounds and the like. Another Redditor recommended that I listen to white noise (which Calm also has). I started listening to a lot the “sound scapes” on the app. Found out that I actually like nature noises.
Check it out: https://www.calm.com/gp/p2sms5
https://www.deezer.com/playlist/733113466 not bad for relax before sleep.
But quality of sleep really not so much depends of what you listen before getting under pillow. It more how is quiet when you already there: I can listen black metal and sleep like a brick, but if my neighbors decide to ~~beat~~ teach their six hundred sixty five kids some nice manners, my plans to rest all the mishap.
I have horribly noisy upstairs neighbors at night. I use these and as a side sleeper I am quite happy with the comfort and price ($12)!

I got a Tempur pedic neck pillow due to a lot of neck stiffness/soreness. It's been a game changer for me. Very firm and supportive. At first I didn't think it would be comfortable but I sleep really well on it. I'm mostly a side sleeper but occasionally sleep on my back.

Adding these lights as the only light source you see after sunset will make getting to sleep sooner, easier:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZD5XW8Q/
2-4 per room depending on size
I’ve never used one of these myself but I have come across it as an option and I’m somewhat interested in trying it
This. Try it. Return it if you don’t love it. :)
These are the LEDs i ordered, they work really well, ive had them for a year. only downside is that ive seen other lightstrips display multiple colors on one strip at a time, where these ones can not.
This isn't the healthiest option but it it's better than not sleeping and usual works for me the majority of the time sleep aid tablets
I couldn't find anyone recommending it in the thread, but I definitely suggest trying out a light alarm.
It gradually fades on in the morning and you can use a sound alarm as backup (I've only ever had that happen a small number of times when my light wasn't connecting properly).
One option is to get something like this. Personally, I use some colored smart lights that I keep on during the day. I got some Philips hue bulbs and the hub, but I think there's other good options like the ones from IKEA.
I think light alarms disturb REM sleep less than other alarm types, which goes well when paired with sleep apps that do something similar, and it removes that feeling of being annoyed at a certain sound. The main downside is making sure the sun doesn't wake you up first.
Definitely a nicer way to get up, though, and, mornings really do feel a lot calmer in general, at least for me.
Ok thanks for the feedback! I am also a side sleeper, and my Ikea pillows have softened taking them from passable to uncomfortable (generally multiple times of fluffing them up during the night for support).
I was looking at that one or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panda-Luxury-Memory-Bamboo-Pillow/dp/B017R9BUKU/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=pillow+memory+foam&qid=1581504542&sr=8-7 but based on this I think I'll try the amazon one for now.
