This is just one of them but had the most reviews of the ones I saw
I liked consumer reports newborn necessities. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2009/02/newborn-necessities-save-money-and-buy-just-the-basics/index.htm
It even has links to the specific products they recommend.
We have this stroller (only for 1 baby for now) and really love it. It pushes very nicely on walks and I really don’t have any complaints. For any perspective buyers remember it is a full size stroller, so while it does fold up pretty well, it is still pretty big. I wouldn’t want to take this to Disney World and ride the busses with it.
Also instead of the mockingbird parent caddy, we got this: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07NV9H735/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_J2KS8BRFZZ02Q9A3QFCD
One accessory we did get was the snack tray and it seems really nice, our little guy isn’t old enough for real food yet though.
My friend recommended the Baby Bargains book and it was really helpful for us!

I had this: Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYN5FS9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you're looking for a drop down side like in a crib, you probably won't find one. Those are super unsafe.
I found some pajamas that have dinosaurs (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08K3NDH4V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with little Santa hats... or just about any that have special details on the feet. Too cute!!
Something like this IKEA highchair footrest
We use this in medium for our car seat, it stays permanently attached for stroller use and for car rides

I have the 3D Mini. It's like a sturdier umbrella stroller. Not too heavy, decently compact, and works for shorter gals (I'm 5'3"). To collapse it, there's a little push notch for your feet. You may need help getting the wheels on, though! Also, I'd recommend a baby bumper, to cushion your LO's head while they're still small!

We got this one from Amazon that we got for our current 21mo (who was 18mo when we bought it).
CANNOT express more how awesome this foam climbing set is. We got it for my daughter when she turned 1 (really started playing with it at 11m because we got it early lol). She’s 21mo now and still plays with it nearly every day!

Also, my sister got this for my daughter when she was 9mo, still plays with it nearly every day. It’s got metal pots which are really nice and don’t break, and it fits pretty neatly in the box which is great for travel!!

We gated off a big section of our living room where our couch is and where we usually hang out with this SkipHop enclosure with a soft playmat covering the entire area. This allows him a lot of room to roll around but still enclosed so he can’t get into any trouble - it’s worked out really well now that he’s crawling and cruising too.
I've had this for over a year and only have changed the batteries once. Play it every night. https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Twinkle-Cuddle-Soother-Crib-Attach/dp/B07WPBVZH3/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3QNI2Y7XN4GT9&keywords=cloud+soother&qid=1639541746&sprefix=cloud+sooth%2Caps%2C208&sr=8-1
Why don't you get rechargable C batteries? I have EBL AA and AAA and they're awesome.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FHVM7GC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_Z63VGJY7Z95DBVR095CR?psc=1
It's 40 bucks up front for 4 batteries and the charger but if you use their AA and AAA you'll save money in the long run.
This is the bassinet I have, no complaints. It's super highly rated and not outrageously priced.
There a few gates out there that are made to work with banisters. I’ve seen some from summer infant, regalo, and kidco. You may be able to get away with using spindle attachment similar this one I found on Amazon. I’ve never used this product so please take this recommendation with a grain of salt. Good luck!
If you’re not set on needing video, a good radio style one could do the trick. I have this one from vtech and it gets great signal even when I’m outside.
Can't go wrong with Melissa and Doug toys. A friend bought this for my LO's one year and he loves it, but any of them are good quality and educational.
My niece and daughter have loved the Nuk Evolution Straw cups. They both started using them around 1 year old. They are completely dishwasher safe, no biting required, and you can get different lids if you want. I believe all the Nuk Evolution line is compatible. The lid also slides closed so you can throw one in the diaper bag and not worry about spills. Niece is 3 and my daughter is 2 and they are both still using them every day.
Here's the Amazon link, but these are $20 for a two pack and when I bought them they were between $11-$15 so be aware they are probably better priced elsewhere.

My kids LOVE these little books. They use them all the time https://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Words-Animals-Frustration-Packaging/dp/B089DNYQ5D/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=bilingual+toys&qid=1621912050&sr=8-4
Miro humidifiers!!!!! They’re pricy but they’re modular so you can easily take them apart and hand wash them!!! It is the best humidifier we’ve ever had and the fact that we don’t have to worry about hidden mold is worth it for that aspect alone.

I have the Halo bassinet. FTM and 2.5 months post partum. I have four of these sheets and they fit the Halo perfectly and I don’t have any complaints. Also I love the Halo! https://www.amazon.com/AMROSE-Dinosaur-Bassinest-Hourglass-Breathable/dp/B088DC7MNW
Thank you so much! But the FP swing you have is 2-1?
This is 2-1. They have other that aren’t.
Would something like this work? You could set it high enough for your 6 year old to reach but not the toddler.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016QT678M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DWQB5BYQGN0TW5PDFXSY
I like OXO Tot Baby Blocks since they don’t leak. My youngest is 1.5 now and I still use them for his school lunches even though he’s way past purées — one for protein, one for veggies, and one for fruit or other carb. In my experience, bento boxes are more for age 2+, since the teachers can’t easily pour small amounts of one thing at a time for the baby/toddler. (I like Sugarbooger Good Lunch Bento Boxes.)
I’ve had kids at 2 daycares and neither allowed glass.
There is some good advice here, especially from the PT who commented. I’ll add that many concerns will point more towards these types of containment walkers, rather than push walkers. Many kids are placed in containment walkers well before they would be upright in that position, leading to atypical motor development, and the ability to reach dangerous things they otherwise couldn’t. Push walkers are supported by some due to the fact that a baby will already be mobile at that point. The push walkers wouldn’t be much different than pushing a box or laundry basket across a room, safety wise.
Is this audio monitor you have? Upgraded VTech DM111 Audio Baby Monitor with Best-in-Class Long Range, Privacy Guaranteed DECT 6.0 Transmissions, Cystal-Clear Sound, Up-Graded Parent Unit with Rechargeable Battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JEV5UI8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MG1V21WJ09H6MYS7MMAX
As others have said, the water level needs to be pretty high for it to work safely, because baby is supposed to be as upright as possible. But my baby loves “swimming” time in the otteroo we were gifted!
I use a drain stopper to raise the water level in our garden tub and it’s plenty deep! Like this.
We have a Nest camera and really like it! The 2-way audio is very clear. The app is also very reliable, you can go back and look at recorded video, app notifications for motion or noise detection. It’s technically a security camera, but we really love it, even in addition to our Infant Optics baby monitor.
So, I bought this one on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZQC1T1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_9M31HWN2R5T28ETMWYGJ
It has a changing table included but I never did use it. The middle section that is raised up was wonderful, from 0-4 months we used it raised to the middle and it was high enough that I could also change his bum quickly like that too(usually just brought him to his changing table though). I had issues with bending over the first few months and this worked so great for being able to put him down and pick him up as well.
My son is 9 months and I still use the pack n play in my basement for when I need to put him down to do laundry or if I want to do a walk on the treadmill and he plays in there for a bit.
My son loved pulling up on this VTech Activity Table!
It’s about $30, stable, and kept him standing while playing with all the buttons.
Will just say ours was entertained by a wooden gym for about 0.4 days and then we got this which actually wasn't aesthetically horrible and had much better longevity.
We got a less expensive one from our registry https://www.amazon.com/Toys-Battat-Wooden-Hanging-Newborns/dp/B07PPCYH12/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=play+gym+wooden&qid=1611866722&sprefix=play+gym+eoode&sr=8-9 ... Our baby isn’t due until March, but it seems to be cute and functional. We remember from our first daughter that a play gym was really only used for a few months, so the price of the lovevery gym seemed too high. We will probably splurge on other things (like a walker/wagon) that get used for a longer time.
I am in a 3 bedroom and feel your pain when it comes to space (my office is also my craft room and nursery) and budget (we are buying a house in the next few months). I got a mini crib off Amazon that converts later to a bed, and a packnplay and bassinet off of FB market place (both a little loved but clean, and only $50 for both). I wanted to be ready since I know it's more of what the baby prefers and what they can fit in.
Congrats! Here is the playmat. It has honestly been one of my favorite purchases so far. It's really big, but can be folded in half for smaller spaces. The baby and I spend a ton of time playing on it every day! This is the reusable wipes container that I mentioned. It's a travel sized one, since we wet the wipes down individually when we're at home. As for the humidifier, it's just a small cool mist one from CVS that I bought in the middle of the night when the baby was sick. I wish I had gotten one in advance, because the choices were very limited at the store and it was way more expensive than if I had ordered one online.
I have this one

and it also has a timer. We usually do 30 minutes for initial bedtime and then i turn it to 15 minutes because every time she cries it turns back on. She has been super easy to put back to sleep though so i reduce the timer so that she can look at the lights a little, but i don't have to listen to it for too long. Which is my gentle way of saying don't run it all night if you don't want to go insane lol.
I think as far as baby shit goes it's pretty easy on the batteries.
We have this one that we've been using nearly every night for probably about a year now and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. But it doesn't stay on all night long. It has a 30 minute self timer.
Not the exact one you're talking about, but I imagine they're similar. I may be wrong though.
We are pretty picky about white noise and we had been playing 2 minute loops that fade in and out, via Spotify. Then we found a 2 hour one we liked and we listened to that for awhile. Then we got the sound machine and it’s been much better, the speaker is pretty good quality and there’s a lot of options for how you want the pitch, and we don’t have to worry about playing it from a phone and wanting to take that phone away while the other person is still sleeping. So yeah I’d go with a noise machine. I’ll link the one we got in a minute!
Edit: This is the one we bought that we are really happy with, and this is a portable one that we also got (though we haven't tried this one out yet so can't really review it)
I have very strong opinions on this! We had a Hatch sound machine, that has different settings and light colors when you tapped it. Can also be controlled with your phone. It was incredibly annoying tapping through all the settings or waiting on the app to load to get the sound machine on/off/changed.
So we bought the Dohm sound machine on Amazon, because we wanted something “old school” with just a simple switch. It is much easier to use in the dark. And it produces more of a subtle fan sound vs electronic which we like.
No fiddling with an app, no making sure a device is charged, you don’t need WiFi to work it (while visiting relatives etc). Just plug in and go.
We have a Toddleroo SuperYard in our living room and have liked it a lot. (We’ve had it for over 3 years.) I’ve heard it isn’t great for kids who climb everything, but my toddlers haven’t tried to scale it despite being adventurous lil troublemakers in general.
We also recently added a Regalo Super Wide Gate in a bedroom to block off the cat area (food, water, and litter boxes) from our 15 month old. The latch mechanism annoys me a bit, but that might be because I’m not used to it yet. It a good option if you need to secure the gate to the walls (though you can use it as a freestanding closed shape) or if you want vertical bars instead of the more-climbable diamond walls.
We bought a QOOC baby food maker on Amazon and honestly, we really like it. Its a 2-in-1 that steams and then blends the food into a purée. It’s self contained and the parts go in the dishwasher afterwards, we haven’t had any problems with mold. It’s kind of expensive, but we also haven’t spent a dime on pre-packaged baby food purees (and now using it for a 2nd kid too). You can use it with frozen veggies too, which is really convenient.
Best part is that you can make small batches. Especially helpful if you’re slowly introducing new foods, and don’t want to make a ton in case baby doesn’t like it.
My baby kept slipping down non stop in the conventional baby tub with sling. Super unenjoyable to be leaning over a tub on the ground holding a baby up from slipping under water while bathing with one hand. So we got the Angel Care Baby Bath Support.
I LOVE this one: Munchkin Sit and Soak Baby Bath Tub, 0-12 Months, White https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07L4DHQY5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_ZST1FbH4J9483
I tried a few others and had a hard time washing babe while laying down. The “sitting up” style is so much easier and my LO loves playing in it.
I used to drive a Ford Escort (a little smaller than a Dodge Dart), and I was happy with my Chicco Lightway PLUS umbrella stroller. I don’t think they make the Lightway PLUS anymore (“plus” in this case means you can click a Chicco Keyfit carseat into it), but you could use just a basic stroller caddy while you’re using an infant seat (~8 months) and then any umbrella stroller (like the regular Lightway) once you switch to a convertible car seat.
I also highly recommend babywearing most of the time, especially for stores (so you can use a shopping cart) and places where maneuverability is important (like the zoo). K’Tans are my favorite for the first ~5 months — you can find a cheap used one (make sure it has both pieces) and throw it in the laundry to clean it. After that, there are a zillion good options depending on your personal preferences. My favorite soft structured carrier is the Integra, plus I keep cheap used meh dais (they’re washable) in both cars for unexpected errands (back when errands were a thing).
We bought Summer 3D flip.I like it because it is light, collapses fairly easily and I could use it from newborn up. My only complaint is the storage underneath isn't easily accessible while your LO is reverse in this. We had bought a convertible car seat and this instead of a newborn system that we'd have to replace when he turns forward/grows. Hope this helps!
With insurance I got the Spectra S2 for free, haven’t used it yet (FTM due Jan). My mom is here to help so I’m less concerned about moving around and getting stuff, I bought some extension cords just in case.
I also bought hands free clip so my hands can be free to do other things.

These! I have an old victorian home that is drafty as fuck and the floors are so cold during the winter. i wanted something to keep my kiddos feet from being frozen but wouldn't lead to slipping and falling. These are amazing and I WISH they made them in adult sizes with zippers on the side so that adults could wear them. He still wants to wear them and he's nearing 5 years old. They're super easy to put on, super easy to clean. They're nice and warm and he is able to wear them outside too. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QFKVQ84/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Graco 4Ever DLX 4 in 1 Car Seat on sale now. So tempted to buy even after all the feedback. Wonder if the price will go down more post Xmas? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J37RTPG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_cyNUFbRE4AY57
From 10ish months til he outgrew them (14 months) we had these. They were originally purchased at target. They were amazing and so easy to put on. I miss them.
We bought these from Amazon and we like them. They do run wide, but there are plenty of shoes like this all over Amazon! A pediatric PT friend of mine always recommends this type of shoe for good foot development and control for early walkers. Hope this helps!
Congratulations! My little just turned 4 mos yesterday! I'm definitely leaning towards either that one or this one
Yes, there are small trees. I had one as a child that was about two feet high. My brother had one even smaller. You could also get a bottle brush style tree.
Here is a small Christmas tree. Is this what you were thinking of?
We have this one but still have a long while before our baby will be using it. From just playing with it and setting it up, it seems really sturdy and I love that it is huge inside! It has decent reviews.
Not sure if it helps but the one we chose has a removable bassinet that is flat inside for safe sleep. I’m really glad we got the one that’s flat so we don’t have to worry about letting him fall asleep in it like we would with a chair/bouncer style bassinet. It also has the changing table and the baskets on the side.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y5VKWS2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_yzBPFb81V67SG
It may not be on sale like the others but it does have some of the same features for $180. And looking long-term, the pack-n-play itself is the same on all of them. So you’re just paying extra for the accessories you want.
I don’t see that chair and storage containers being worth even $100. I recommend going with the cheaper Pack n Play and getting whatever other chair/bouncer/baby rocker looks like the best fit for your lifestyle.
Edit: This can provide some hard plastic storage for whatever Pack n Play you get. I don’t have one, but the reviews are promising. Prince Lionheart Diaper Depot Clear https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000056OUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_9NzPFb54HEYC5
Just a random thought here, what about getting one of those mini portable/manual washers? They’re pretty cheap and could save you some time if you’re not down for hand washing. It still sucks you would have to wait for it to dry, but it would still be better than nothing. portable clothes washer There are a few different options at various price points.
Pretty much what others have said. I wouldn't suggest buying "14 days worth" of individual outfit changes as that would be wayyy too many articles of clothing. Newborns get changed A LOT.
I bought six big diaper boxes full of second hand clothes in excellent condition for $60. Most were 0-6m but it did go up to 12m. It was too much, my son didn't even wear all of the outfits before growing out of them. Check (Kijiji, Craigs list, fb marketplace, gumtree - depending where you live) for these sorts of deals.
To simplify: for a newborn, just put them in sleeper jammies (I prefer zipper over snaps). No need for outfits with a shirt, pants, socks, etc all those pieces are unnecessary.
You can rinse out most clothes if they just get some spit up or pee on them. Even breastmilk poop is water soluble. Get one of those stain remover cleaning sticks
You can do this. Good luck!
I got one of those moon lamps that you can change the shade/color on and I love it! I have it on a soft yellow glow and it's just enough to see but not intrusive.

We have this one and we love it. We covered the bottom and the steps with non slip grip tape and its worked like charm. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BMN5YDS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I saw recommended on a few blogs, as well as on the r/babybumps page! It’s the one I’ll be buying when my pump comes in. Some people suggested adding some double sided Velcro to the back of the spectra to hold the battery hands free, too!
We have this monitor and like it. The display and volume are adjustable, and it can play lullabies (#4 is our daughter's favorite, and sounds a lot like Jolene).
Right around 12 months, both my kids loved putting things into and taking things out of containers. This bug jar was their favorite: Melissa & Doug Bug Jug Fill & Spill https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000NV6BZY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dEmFFbH3BF7PS
In my experience, grandparents usually like to see kids immediately using gifts. 8 months is probably too early to use the bug jar itself, but the bug toys are great for playing and chewing, and they make different quiet sounds (rattle, crinkle, etc.).
Oh, and stacking cups! There are all sorts of fancy ones, but both my kids loved these cheap ones: The First Years Stack Up Cup Toys https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00005C5H4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3HmFFb4GSYH1Z
I bought 2 sets of these Muslin swaddles. They’re awesome.

A bounce and some sort of play may as a place to put baby down. I bought his bouncer for $20 off of marketplace and his play at was purchased by his aunt. Expensive but cheap if you can talk your dad into buying it 😂🤣😂
This is the one I have. However, I'd suggest a different version of it, as the shapes (while a huge hit for "putting things through holes" or playing a version of peek-a-boo) offer leverage to make climbing onto the counter significantly easier. This vertical bar design is what I would have gone with in retrospect.
I will note that the non-slip mat turned out to be entirely useless for us so far; he's too young to be reasoned with that he's supposed to leave the mat on the stool, and it's easily removable. We just do without with little concern as it's not slippery unless wet, and the fabric back offers the needed protection for that uncommon scenario. Maybe when he's a bit older we can start using it again. He's used it from 10 months and is now 15 months, for reference.
I ended up getting these silicone ones, and they seem perfect so far. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S7YR5M8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_R9RyFbR34W9YE
Like any kind of edge cushion, they might not withstand peeling motion, so hopefully your little one doesn’t try scaling them. Fortunately they’re pretty low profile so there isn’t much to bite or grab onto.
Good luck with your little chewer!
Yep, it has the screw and the cool thing is the the nightlights on the bottom. So you don’t get blasted in the face with light when you walk into a completely dark room

I searched high and low for an automatic recliner chair that also glides/turns... this one isn’t as comfy as lazy boy but I’d say similar to pottery barn!
Edit- looks like the link takes you to cribs, you may have to search for it by name
Don’t get it
I already had a bullet type blender, but even that we only used for a few weeks to make some batches of pears, prunes and beans. But to be honest, buy puréed prunes and the rest you can get really smooth with a masher.
I do suggest getting a good steamer insert to your pans. Something with big capacity and sits on top is better. That was the biggest help in making baby food for me, and you can use it after. I had gotten the Calphalon version of this for my pans years ago.

We went through a few different options. There's a WiFi dead spot in the baby's room that made a lot of the fancier systems not work for us. This is the one we settled on and it's still going strong two years later even after the parent unit being dropped down the stairs many times.
I have a two month old, and we've used this bouncer since he came home from the hospital. It's great to just have somewhere to put him when doing things like dishes, laundry, etc. We even put him in it and set it on the dining room table while we eat dinner. He loves the vibration. It's not recommended to let them sleep in it, but the vibration will put him to sleep, so I usually let him fall asleep in it and after a few minutes, I move him to a flat surface.
We used this one with my daughter and hope to use it with the new baby. She liked it a lot. There is a (crappy) mirror on top that she really loved a lot. Several speeds, music, you can rotate the seat, and the cord is a decent length. I really feel like it was great deal for the price. It takes up a good amount space but not enough to feel like it was annoying.
Busy board. There are a million options on amazon. It's just zippers, buttons, etc. They love that shit.
On Amazon when looking at this specific moses basket, it has these as commonly bought with it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004Q5FSFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_btf_t1_vlivFb8ZZMG10
We used a different brand bassinet, and we had luck with changing pad covers and pillow cases over the mattress.
We have the Momcozy Insulated Bottle Bag off amazon and really like it. We could fit 5 Dr. Browns bottles for daycare, and we now use it on weekends to bring food along in little containers. It has two ‘shelves’ basically and is handy. There are many reviews that explain this better than me haha

I also wanted to recommend a food steamer. This is the one we have but I don’t see any more on Amazon US. My daughter is almost 2 and we still use it often.
We did baby-led feeding with our daughter for solid food and basically skipped the purées. It made our lives so much easier in terms of food prep and she really enjoyed it. In case you’re interested, here is the book we found to be extremely helpful but there are a lot on this subject.
It is really good. I was originally skeptical when my husband ordered it because of the price. We first had this one for the kids' playroom which is also good. But the difference is really huge. With the former, you don't have to struggle to close the gate. You just slam it behind you and it is shut. You do not notice the inconvenience of having to open and close a gate whenever you go up and down. We justified the price because we were planning to have more kids. We got it when we had our first.
How about something like this? We got the tree house, the 2nd link, and my kid is older and still loves it. There are animals and other expansions you can get. The animals make sounds and interact a little with the toy. Plus it comes with 3 shapes for a shape sorter thing, and she loved that part when she was younger. I don't have experience with the road/ vehicle one, but it's the same concept, and company.
someone says it in the youtube comments

I have one of those for carrying groceries, but I ended up ordering these to try- essentially something that hangs the diaper bag between the handles for easy access.
As far as the swing, while I'm no expert, even if you find one that goes to a higher weight, it probably won't last very long. Unless you're really desperate and/or rich, in would say skip it.
