I just set it up on my own computer, it's pretty easy and the instructions are clear.
Anyone want to participate in a documentary? We surpassed 100 participants last week, and we're looking for more!
I'm a documentary filmmaker creating a feature length film composed entirely of community video submissions submitted daily as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses. We are looking for people (anyone!) to submit daily or at least frequent short videos documenting and discussing their lives during this pandemic. Everyone is in this together but experiencing so many different things, so we want to use the power of cell phones and the internet to create a global picture of how humans are fighting and coping with COVID-19.
So far we've had a lot of positive feedback about the process and many have found it therapeutic in these times.

PLEASE feel free to ask questions, I want to be as transparent as possible. I may not be prompt, but I will answer any questions I can.

Desktop air purifiers with UV light are not a lot of work but they are expensive (about $200) and not portable but usually include a HEPA filter. HEPA is totally useless for particles as small as a virus. Suggest you be sure your workplace building doesn't have it in their HVAC system first.
For a spray, try a travel size of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is certified for coronavirus. It's not safe for everybody but fewer people have adverse reactions to it than to Lysol. (I sued my employer for making me sick by using Lysol in my workplace and won!) It's a type of bleach so don't spray too much of it on colored fabrics or hair.
For something portable that's not a lot of work, ionizers worn around your neck might eventually work but studies are still being done on them and I'm not aware of any that are currently certified to protect from any viruses. They're real good at protecting people from Lysol, though.
These ones from Honeywell are great, and have an N95 filter insert that you can change every 8hrs of use. They don't move down when you talk either. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KWQSTZJ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_BZPD9YHWCPD080EMSZVE
I'm not a medical professional so I can't confirm anything as far as whether it will protect you or what percentage of filtration. But my family has been buying from a company called Mask By Design who's based here in California. We have been very pleased with the quality.
Adult masks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D6HYYKQ/
Kids masks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D6NYVS9/
I bought these from Amazon and they have been great. They're cotton, have an adjustable nose wire, ear loos, and generally fit very snuggly (in a good way).
I work at a covid testing site and therefore come into contact with sick patients (covid, of course, but also flu and cold since they often present the same and people get tested to rule out covid). The most important thing is to get vaccinated and get your booster shot. That will give your immune system the best chance against covid infection. Secondly, wear a high quality, n95 or similar mask that creates a tight seal around your face. I personally prefer these from Honeywell, but you might have to try a few to find one you prefer. Lastly, wash your hands/use hand sanitizer frequently and DO NOT touch your face without washing your hands/using sanitizer. Even if it's just to slip your mask off for a moment for a sip of water, etc.

I just bought this Halo Life Face Mask and it's pretty nice. It has a chin cup, a plastic bar across the front so it holds away from your lips, metal nose piece that does a good job keeping the air from blowing up into your eyes / fogging glasses, and adjustable straps. Comes in 4 different sizes, XL being good for my normal adult male face. If you want more protection you can it also comes with a carbon filter lining you can slip between the two layers.
I think on iPhones its automatic. On android it's possibly automatic too since the api is baked in to each states app.
But if you want to be safe download the NY APP and leave it on your phone for 2 weeks before and after trip.

Ideally zero. In the past, hospital surges hit ~ two weeks after the surge, and exponential numbers are exponential.
So ~1000 people in LA (county) (not 600) is based on when there was a daily new positive rate (7/14) of ~1800 a day and it’s now (7/28 because of data lags of 1-3 days, typically) ~2700 a day. And school’s about to start….
You want it slower because you want the hospitals not to be overwhelmed. They’re losing staff for reasons my friend Cassie talks about in her memoir of being an ICU nurse for the last year.
For mask does this one work vs Covid? It says "
What do you guys look for when buying masks? thanks
Haha, You’re a lot like me in that regard. I immediately bought one upon seeing her videos. My Cinema Light Box
It took a couple of bad buys before I realized hers is the smaller version I linked.
That's rough.
Looks like there are a few on Amazon
Fire pit? Concrete log + propane burner pipe thing?
I've only used the 6100 model, so I'm not sure what the differences between the two. The filters/cartridges are good for up to 40 hours of use. Grab an extra set if you think they'll be using it for longer than that on their trip. Make sure it's the P100 Organic Vapor filters: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Cartridge-60923-Respiratory-Protection/dp/B00AEFCKKY
I had little alcohol wipes with me that I used any time I removed the mask. I wiped down both the outside and inside of the mask and put the mask back in the plastic bag it came in.
Wow this was very helpful thanks.
Could I cover the valves with surgical masks?
What about these N95s: https://www.kurentsafety.com/productdetailI2.aspx?dataid=2600N95
Are goggles also needed with the half face respirators? Something like : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083FGPBVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_3mkFFbGW8DBCG
You mean these? 3M Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6300, Gases, Vapors, Dust, Paint, Cleaning, Grinding, Sawing, Sanding, Welding, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JZ1MK6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_08jFFbPMVYJ90
Did you cover the valve with a surgical mask?
Where do you buy the filters?
Even these? 3M Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6300, Gases, Vapors, Dust, Paint, Cleaning, Grinding, Sawing, Sanding, Welding, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JZ1MK6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_08jFFbPMVYJ90
I would bring a few extra N95s, the elastic could fail and you could be unprotected. The old saying that “two is one, and one is none” .. considering the potential consequences of a failure, I would bring extra masks. I picked up some of these and have worn them with a face shield 3M Safety Glasses, Virtua CCS Protective Eyewear 11872, Removable Foam Gasket, Clear Anti-Fog Lenses, Corded Ear Plug Control System (2 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083FGPBVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GSbFFbCCZT0JE
Reading ancient Chinese philosophy – specifically the Tao Te Ching – at the beginning of Covid & repeatedly throughout has really helped frame the world nicely.
*If you overesteem great men, people become powerless. If you overvalue possessions, people begin to steal.
The Master leads by emptying people's minds and filling their cores, by weakening their ambition and toughening their resolve. He helps people lose everything they know, everything they desire, and creates confusion in those who think that they know.
Practice not-doing, and everything will fall into place.*
