yeah since these are done on their own time, it may not always be updated. the HD part of Bezelbub takes a lot of rewriting from scratch i guess, which is why so few mods do it. i would love if we just had a vanilla widescreen mod like Bezelbub but with only bug fixes and configurable QoL, not overhauling the game and changing complete areas.
i think infernity has an option to keep the shop list scrolled to the previously sold item so it's not so annoying, currently has hardcoded widescreen 1280x960, it's still in dev, as is The Hell 2, another widescreen mod. so hopefully changes can be made if more people request them and it's workable with the code.
i would try getting Hellfire with it, either with CD or mounting an ISO disc image and install it. then you could use Belix's unofficial Hellfire update: https://www.gog.com/forum/diablo/diablo_hellfire_with_some_quality_of_life_changes_belixs_hellfire_v102a5_mod
that is the most vanilla-ish update i have found with QoL updates. other than that The Hell (can be used with Hellfire or without) is good fun but it changes more than i like as well.
These days it's easier to use a combination of Hamachi and IPXwrapper.
Note: I get a "dangerous program" alert for IPXwrapper, althought I've been using it for years without trouble (it's also open source). You can probably ignore it safely, as the nature of IPXwrapper is to hook network functions (to convert IPX into UDP), it's probably what causes the heuristics security programs to detect it as a potential threat
