I see two causes to this.
One the wide spread availability of internet. I know people who live in the middle of no where and cant get cable/dsl but still have 5mb/s 4g wireless.
Two, pirating. If I let you play offline, then I can't make sure your connection is valid. Moreover, if I let you play offline on LAN then you can use a program that sets up a type of VPN allowing you to play "LAN" over the internet. here and here
Check out tunngle and LogMeIn Hamachi, If the game is fairly popular then you can easily find a server to connect with via tunggle which allows you to play mutiplayer on pirated games via local lan play mode.
Check out tunngle: https://www.tunngle.net/en/
Check out LogMeIn Hamachi: https://www.vpn.net/
Alright mate I’m about to drop about 6 years worth of perfection on you. I’m not on a computer so bear with me.
So the Westeros only mod is good yeah, but we at the moment don’t need it to host three people fairly stably (maybe one desync every couple hours)
So you get (Hamachi, y’all make accounts and get yourselves on your own server, and before you get into a game you go into windows firewall. Advanced settings, it’ll say ‘domain profile’, ‘public profile’, ‘private profile’ or some shit like that. Go into the advanced settings there and disable the firewall totally on each of those, and under ‘protected connections’ or some shit untick hamachi.
Now in hamachi itself open up the settings and have a look around until you find ‘encrypt peer connections’ or something like that and just turn it off.
So now whatever problems you guys may have had having a direct tunnel on hamachi should be clear.
So launch your game, but turn off everything to do with slavery in your advanced set-up. Slavery just craps all over synchronisation and it’s not worth it. Honestly helps so so much to turn it off. Dragons also seem to hurt sync a bit, but we keep them on and only de sync every couple hours so worth it IMO.
When you start the game, don’t touch anything for like 10-15 days of in-game time. Idk if this is voodoo or what but we read it somewhere and it seems to work, and we were getting so frustrated we’d try anything. Hope this helps (it should), when you desynchronise; and you will eventually, just have the host save the game, everyone quit to desktop and rehost. Shouldn’t happen often.
You can use LogMeIn Hamachi, my friends and I would use it in High School. It pretty much faked a LAN network over WiFi. The free version maxes out at 5 users at once I think. But we had one computer running the server, then 3 of us playing on it.
LogMeIn Hamachi website https://www.vpn.net/
After a lot of struggle I was able to get the Hamachi VPN ARM linux build to work on some of my older stuff.
It was not very straight forward, I copied a number of libs from another system to get it to work, but after adding dropbear to it, I was able to ssh into the phone from anywhere.
For playing on LAN i think on the latest versions there is an Open To Lan option when u load a world and hit escape.I'm not sure if this works but you could try it.
If you are both on different networks you can try hamachi and crafbukkit and bukkitGUI its pretty simple and there are dozens of tutorials online but with little googling u shouldn't have a problem. :)
It creates a small (free is five users) virtual private network that you and your friends can join. So when you create the network and your friends join you just open your singleplayer world to LAN and they will see it in their Multiplayer listed under local network worlds. It was pretty straight forward for me when I downloaded Hamachi but if you need a tutorial on how to get it going there are a shit ton of tutorials on the webs. Fuck, Youtube probably is swamped with little kids doing just that.
If setting a server is too troublesome, you can also try hamachi. It lets your PC think that you are connected to other PCs via LAN and play games without having to set an online server.
To make it work, simply have it downloaded in your and your friends PCs and create a server (basically just choosing the name) and a password. Then share it with your friends and they will connect to it.
So, with everything that’s going on I feel like it’d be cool to create a world just for stoners to drop in and hang out with others on a game and Minecraft would be perfect. If someone’s willing to, they could create a hamachi server (created by LogMeIn) connection so everyone could join. Hamachi Server Link
Just last weekend on PlugY my buddy and I loaded up our decade old characters and played over Hamachi. It generates a VPN, creating an effective LAN environment with new IP addresses.
Install Hamachi.
Sign up for the service (free).
Create Server (Choosing a unique name).
Have your buddy do the same, but instead they should join the server name you made.
Hop into D2, and TCP/IP connect directly using the new IP.
Play D2 like old times.
Alright,
Iirc you need the driver on Shadow and the other app on your local PC Hamachi on both ofc and setup a network (assuming you know how to get that working) and just join, now you should see Shadow in the spacedesk program on your local PC, just click it (check and mess with settings first) and done. Surprisingly easy, it ain't the most smoothest or best solution, but it is the best we can get as of now, hope it works for you!
Haha ;)
You only need GOG Galaxy on your computer. If your friend already has it through Steam, you can crossplay between GOG and Steam. I haven't tried it myself, but you might need to create a VPN and connect using the LAN option.
Disclaimer - It's been a while since I've done anything with MCPE servers, but this should help point you in the right direction.
The first thing to be aware of is that Minecraft on an iPad and Minecraft on a computer are two very separate things. The current computer version of Minecraft is called the Java Edition, and the iPad/mobile/console version is called the Bedrock Edition. Unlike the Java Edition, Minecraft Bedrock does not have any official server software. Your best bet would probably be to use realms. It is Very important that you buy realms for the right Edition of Minecraft. If you're interested in 3rd party server software, the Minecraft Wiki has some information here. Your other alternative would be to use something like Hamachi and connect using Minecraft's built in LAN hosting.
You’re not quite right on this one. You’re describing a commercial VPN like they advertise on YouTube videos. I use Nord VPN for security on public networks, it works great.
The VPN I’m describing is a little different, it creates a legitimate private network like a business would use. Here’s the benefit, you don’t need to open any ports to the world, only people invited to the VPN can access Foundry. They will use a local ip instead of your external ip. The average user will not discover your external IP address, and when the game is over you can disconnect from the VPN and your network will be safe again.
Check out Hamachi for more info, but this is a reasonably secure option that prevents you from opening ports to the public.
Gog's servers were having trouble yesterday - I'd maybe wait a bit and try again later. (Apparently the GOG/STEAM crossplay means if either set of servers have issues, the PC version develops issues with multiplayer.)
If you really want to play now, a pseudo-LAN service will work. Something like https://www.vpn.net/ .
Could set up a QLab Remote instance over some sort of VPN / Hamachi (www.vpn.net)? Sending OSC / Network cues etc
There was someone on here making raspberry pi based cuelights - which would probably be useful research - as they would almost certainly be able to be put on a hamachi vpn.
Not sure how the Wii works, but if you can play together on a local network, setting up a VPN tunnel into your network should work. You can use Hamachi for this. It's free for up to 5 devices.
I used it a lot as a kid when playing Minecraft with friends without renting a server.
A solution you could use, is Hamachi. It isn't the best, but you can use it without port forwarding. All you have to do is create an Network with Hamachi and let the others connect to it. Then you can play with them without port forwarding.
Are you sure you wouldn't rather just use a small vps online?
If not then I'd get rid of the whole VPN idea and instead just set up SSH, make sure it's secure, then port forward it through a high numbered port. Using SSH they can create their own port forwarding. For example forward pi port 80 to local port 8080 -L 8080:127.0.0.1:80
. They can also use sshuttle to create a VPN over ssh, if you want an easy way for them to access all the ports.
With any setup like this I'd consider firewalling/isolating the Pi. You could try to do that on the Pi, but I wouldn't. You want to be able to talk to the pi, but have the Pi unable to talk to anything else.
If it really has to be a VPN, and it's 5 or fewer people, then I'd consider https://www.vpn.net/ .
Hamachi is what you're looking for. You and your players need to install it. I can't find a guide for using it with FG, but the gist of it is you need everyone in the same channel, and they connect to your virtual Hamachi IP instead of the usual.
Disclaimer: I am not a comcast user so I dont know how they do their network.
First thing I would Check your PC firewall rules if you have one. create them if you dont.
If thats not the case proceed >
My big question is are they giving you an IP inside their network or are you getting an actual public IP to your router. IE is the cable modem handing you a 192.168.x.x to your router. This would indicate if modem is acting as router aswell or they NAT you behind them. You could use something like Logmein Hamachi to by pass that, but all your friends would have to install that aswell.
Next thing. Im confused why you would have to clone your mac. You should be able to plug your router into the cable modem (reboot everything) and shit should work assuming router is configured correctly. But like I said, I am not very familiar with CC.
Find out what your IP is or better yet use the IP > Cloud DDNS in the mikrotik. See if your friends can maybe ping it?
SMB is "Server Message Block" or what Windows uses to do local area network file sharing. Hamachi is a "VPN" service that allows two or more computers to connect to each other and become part of the same local area network but emulated over the internet. Once you both connected over a Hamachi VPN, you could navigate to the other person's computer by using windows shares under "Network Neighborhood" or whatever it is called now.
Hamachi: https://www.vpn.net/
Hamachi uses AES-256 encryption so it is nearly impossible to decrypt the data being transferred between parties.
No but if the game just has local network co-op you can use a little tool called Hamachi. You both install it and create a group (virtual private network) that both clients join. Your computers will now think they are on the same local area network and you can play LAN games together.
If you want to go with port forwarding yourself you need to check your anti virus to make sure that's not blocking you from using the opened port.
Alternately you can just use Hamachi. Here is the download: https://www.vpn.net/
Once you install that you create a private network and give your friends the details so they can join. When connecting to the game use the Hamachi IP of the host, along with the port 32976
If you are playing Bedrock (and they are too) - find out their in-game names and invite them.
If you are playing Java (and they are too) - it's a bit more challenging. The "easy" way would be to use https://www.vpn.net/ + 'Open to LAN'
Can work, but is a perpetual cost.
You could also implement a small on-site device (NAS or a desktop) running a VPN server like OpenVPN/SoftEther. Once time expense that will run all of this pretty easily. Or go hosted with something like Hamachi VPN https://www.vpn.net/. Easy to setup with no hardware and cheap for a small team.
I have a technique that I am currently testing and it is very conclusive for the moment.
In addition to having installed steam and scrap-mechanic on both pc. Install Hamachi on the two pc https://www.vpn.net/ and each pc create an account.
The person with the best connection will be the host of the game scrap mechanic and the host of the Hamachi server.
The second player connects to the Hamachi server of the host pc and then connects in the normal way on scrap.
Personally when I do this with my friends, they have no bug. If it works well tell me because on my side it's only tests. For two players it works but for three its bug.
Hoping to have helped
If you have any questions or if I explained incorrectly ask me I will be happy to help you
Since you're on PC, try using Hamachi LogMeIn. I've found it's good for resolving a lot of network issues quickly. There's likely a way to resolve the root cause of your issue, but Hamachi I've found is typically a much faster work around. And if you're not having any other issues then as a solution it works fine. I was having problems connecting with a friend on old school Diablo 2 due to some kind of NAT issue and going through Hamachi fixed it.
Use Hamachi, it's free and will allow you to create a VPN and have your friend connect up to you and will allow you to play like you are on a LAN together. If you both have a decent internet connection it should not cause much lag at all.
It’s really simple here’s the link https://www.vpn.net
It does say vpn but what it does it makes you and your friend in the same local server which fixes the saints row issue
All you have to do is after installation just click on the power button , make an account , tell your friend to do the same and then the host has to create a server in the hamachi app and then send the details to the friend so he can join it. After this you can go to saints row and after the session is done you can tell your friend to right click the server on hamachi and click on leave, then just tell him to join again when you play again.
Maybe try Hamachi
I used it a while back to play games online which didn't have online support.
You both need to install it. It will create a virtual lan to make it look you are on the same network.
Look up a guide how to use it, I can't remember anymore.
Goodluck
We hade this problem yesterday and after one hour we just downloaded hamachi and setup a virtual LAN. (https://www.vpn.net/)
We did not have any problems and played for 6 hours without lag or freezes.
You and everyone connecting to you will need Hamachi so you can create a virtual LAN server. Then you'll all need Rocket Plugin so one of you can host and the others can connect. Your friend doesn't necessarily need to have the Aimbot plugin installed, but it will make the physics changes smoother for them. If you want to troll them, they shouldn't have the Aimbot plugin installed at all, otherwise they'll definitely know what you're trying to do.
Your WAN IP should be the same as your public IP otherwise there is at least another device further up in the chain that has the public IP. If your modem is just a modem then it would hand out a single public IP (this is why you need to restart if you plug in something else).
I have heard people having success using Hamachi to create Minecraft servers through CGNAT and double NAT. Maybe it worth a look.
Yes! The loader we like( dowload that zip and follow the steps) The workaround to this is a map loader, works for epic games verisons too and works for workshop maps( if u need to know how to do epic games workshops lmk. I'm not sure how to do it without a vpn but we use hamachi. So open up the map loader and download and the load the one u want to play( everyone has to load it) Also connect on hamachi( create a network, give your friends the id and password and once they connect load rl and bakkes. Now the host needs to right click their ip adress to send the ip4 adress to friends for them to copy into rocket plugin. Then join( don't select join a custom map)
Common fixes/ problems
Password incorect or whatever- go to private match and start a private match with no password, leave and join workshop map again( everyone does this)
Hamachi timed out- go to hamachi right click network and reload it or whatever
To not get the ambigious file message that appears when using this go to your rocket plugin folder under CookedPCconsole and drag the udk thats inside the folder somewhere else, and make sure to put it back when ur going to do custom maps
phew its a lot to explain if u have any questions commentg here or u can add me on discord if u need help ThunderJB06#5508
Then a VPN will be the way to go, you can try https://www.vpn.net/ if it suites your needs or install and setup openvpn as a server on the host machine so you can use the client when you need access to it.
The latter is how I am setup to access the internal sites with my main client when I need to from home for the reports I handle.
Unfortunately, port forwarding options are always a bit of a pain. I've never had much luck with it myself, but luckily there are a few decent alternatives to dealing with Internet Provider nonsense.
I can think of three solutions for you.
Good luck!
If you want to host a lan server you can get hamachi. Once you have a connection on hamachi you can just open up the world and click open to lan. To connect to the server they will have to copy the hosts ipv4 and then put the port in (the port should appear in game after you click open to lan). It should be entered as “ipv4:port” minus the quotes. If they have connection issues the host should disable their firewall and it should work after that.
This has worked with every mod pack I’ve played on and vanilla. The only drawback to this method is that the host has to be on the world at all times to connect to it.
Edit: here is the link to download hamachi https://www.vpn.net/
I also forgot to mention this won’t work if your country doesn’t allow vpns.
Hamachi creates virtual private network between users and is available at https://www.vpn.net/ for free. Install the software, create a network and your friend joins in it. When you are both in the same network, you can copy Hamachi's IP address and connect to that in the game.
Looking into something like Hamachi to simply bypass the problem might be your best option, especially if you're just intending a small group.
Outside that, Comcast Routers do allow you to Port Forward, so figuring how to forward 25565 via a guide would be the 'easiest' option unless it outright refuses to play ball, which....well, there's a reason I don't use Comcast's router functions.
I have used Hamachi ( https://www.vpn.net/ ) in the past never Radmin but when we are playing we always use the assign IP Address from the App. We never change to 192.168.x.x because it will mess up the Gateway etc.
LogMeIn Hamachi lets you host a server if you're fine with giving your ip to those friends, and the free version allows you to make a network with 5 people.
PIA is a private internet access VPN, it's used to mask your outside IP address to the world which allows you to browse online anonymously. With PIA you are creating a VPN connection through their network so the traffic looks like it's coming out of whatever endpoint server they route you through.
You cannot use PIA to securely connect back to your home network. You need to host your own VPN through hardware like a VPN router or software like LogMeIn Hamachi. The software route is a little easier if you're not comfortable with advanced networking.
A google search for How to set up a Forge Minecraft server
will provide plenty of both text and video tutorials.
They can do a much better job at explaining the process than I can here.
If you've never run a server before, you might run into trouble with port forwarding. I recommend just using a program called Hamachi. It's much simpler and allows 5 people to connect for free.
If you have any questions or problems, just ask.
If he can't port forward, what would Apache be listening to?
Your only option would be to use something like Hamachi (which I haven't used in years so I can't vouch for it) or using SSH tunneling
I don't have a server to share unfortunately.
Port forwarding is a routing function, so as a general rule router configuration needs to be involved. One possibility is that port forwarding can be automated with a UPnP agent, but this still requires the router to support UPnP and have it enabled in order to work. There are programs like Port Miner, and searching around will probably turn up generic applications. Using UPnP can work around problematic static configurations or situations where the router interface isn't available, but it also won't work in cases where the router is locked down or doesn't support UPnP.
If port forwarding doesn't work, another option would be something like LogMeIn Hamachi to create a virtual local network, but it requires anyone connecting to the server to also be using the client for access and can slightly degrade the game's network efficiency.
It's not going to be that easy if they have a company policy to block ports there not going to change it for one customer.
I use to used https://www.vpn.net/ years ago to get round the same thing but looks like it's been bought over so not sure if it's any good now
Yes, you can also create a LAN World and you and all your friends can download Hamachi (You'll have to figure out how to use it, I'm not entirely sure how set it up). It basically puts everyone on the same network.
Hamachi: https://www.vpn.net/
Hamachi will do pretty much everything for you. https://www.vpn.net/
"Provide remote users with secure access to your private network/LAN from a centralized LogMeIn Hamachi gateway, without modifying firewalls or network routers."
I use a program called LogMeIn by Hamachi. I think it's at www.vpn.net. You both have to disable your firewall, connect to your private hamachi server and then both change your Ip address to whoever is hosting the hamachi server. You can change your IP in the settings.ini file in your clonehero folder.
You can use LogMeInHamachi to set up a “fake” LAN connection. Just download it here after all the set up you just use the LAN server option in Multiplayer and put your buddies (or your buddy puts yours) IP address in and it’s should work. You might have to troubleshoot a bit but it works 90% of the time.
I'm currently using this to play with 4 friends, since none of us can be bothered to setup port forwarding. Its 2mins to download, 2mins to setup and then you all just connect to one person's ivp4. Ez pz
There is a limit of 4 people per hamachi room/server, but it's free and easy to setup.
Try it out, worth it imo.
not sure how to set it up, but my friend made both of us download LogMein Hamachi back when we pirated an old version of 7 days without steam support lol
I'm not a Network Engineer but I think it is possible that your carrier uses CGN to NAT addresses to the public internet. This might make it difficult to connect from outside your carrier, presuming you don't have a static IP.
I'd suggest maybe looking at something like Hamachi, which allows you to create a VPN between you and your friends. This should help with dynamic IPs and make it easier to set up game servers in the future. I've not done this personally for a while so I'm not vouching for Hamachi specifically, but a product of that type.
I used hamachi. Hamachi allows you to create and host a server to invite people to, or to join a server. https://www.vpn.net
I found that downloading the game straight up didn't work immediately for me either. Downloading the most recent update of the game on tumblr should work though. https://genesis-project-news.tumblr.com/downloads
👍
If you're connecting locally or via LAN, then this may be a firewall or port forwarding issue between your OS (eg. Windows) and the router. A lot of games have LAN issues. An easier and more reliable method is to setup something like Hamachi on both PCs, and see whether the server displays in-game, or connect via the IP address Hamachi generates.
I would just skip all of that and use the free LogMeIn Hamachi on the server and clients. It will create a VPN between the participants that you can turn on just for this purpose.

First off, are you both running the same operating system version, RON will not work if you do not have the same OP system and version of the game (although if you both got it off steam and are playing the “extended edition” you should be fine because some of those early bugs have been worked out). You could try direct IP connection there should be a button for that in the menu where you join a game. You could try using hamachi to set-up a local game that way, it will function as if your on the same network. Link: https://www.vpn.net/
I do not use steam, I have the game I bought a long time ago and I play with my friend who lives in Canada and hamachi works very well.
More stuff I found on steam for troubleshooting: https://steamcommunity.com/app/287450/discussions/1/46476691937004568/
Did your friend create the game first, otherwise it will not show up. Did you both make exceptions in the firewall for the game? Again, it will not work if these exceptions have not been made.
Out of curiosity, have you tried using hamachi It's usually super simple to simulate LAN games with it. at least on most oldschool games
to expand on this: download Hamachi by LogMeIn on https://www.vpn.net/, make a hamachi group or network or whatever it's called, then give the network/group/whatever name and password to your friends. get them to download hamachi, then tell them to join your network/group/whatever -- then host and they should be able to join (they need to join with the ip that you get by clicking somewhere around your name in hamachi and clicking copy ipv4)
i know this because minecraft lmao
It doesn't really work like that. If she lives away with a crappy / slow connection, that would limit the maximum bandwidth she can receive and it's just crappy that would limit the quality she gets.
If she lives close enough and you have a long enough cable however...
Jokes aside if you want to share your home network with her to access files and directories you can do that. I would advise something like Hamachi for the first time. Easy to use, i belive it's still free.
You will need to create a VPN between you and your friends. Hamachi was bought out by LogMeIn and is now for sale under https://www.vpn.net/ which would be your easiest option. Their support can assist you in setting it up.
you can use logmein hamachi its a software emulating a local area network by creating a virtual ethX adapter
the software need a registration but is free to use. its working perfectly well with older games which only offer tcpip as multiplayer options (AoE 1, stronghold, anno 1602 and so on)
the tool is pretty self explaining
These days it's easier to use a combination of Hamachi and IPXwrapper.
Note: I get a "dangerous program" alert for IPXwrapper, althought I've been using it for years without trouble (it's also open source). You can probably ignore it safely, as the nature of IPXwrapper is to hook network functions (to convert IPX into UDP), it's probably what causes the heuristics security programs to detect it as a potential threat
You may not have port forwarded correctly by the sounds of it. You could try again or use a program as an alternative to port forwarding.
Here is a link to Hamachi. I havent used it for a while but it basically makes all the connected devices think youre connected to each other.
Not sure if you've tried this but a friend and I could never play a game together without another friend there to invite us both into a group (even that was rarely working).
So we looked into getting Hamachi and connected to each other that way and it seems to work better that way, we are able to join each other and havent had and disconnections from one another.
That OS is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS aka Xenial.
For reference:
https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/haguichi?field.series_filter=xenial
Copy/paste to terminal:
cd Downloads && sudo apt update && sudo apt autoremove -y && sudo apt clean && sudo apt dist-upgrade -y && sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/haguichi -y && sudo apt update && wget https://www.vpn.net/installers/logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.174-1_amd64.deb && sudo apt install haguichi haguichi-indicator -y && dpkg -i logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.174-1_amd64.deb && sudo updatedb && sudo ldconfig && sudo reboot
you can try Hamachi. Its a program that links two or more users and created artificial LAN, even if the users are on different providers and on different continents. And its super easy to install.
That repo seems to have been fairly recently updated.
https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/haguichi?field.series_filter=xenial
https://www.vpn.net/installers/logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.174-1_amd64.deb
Maybe submit a bug report to them if that's what you used and it went sideways. I don't know of any alternatives at this time.
is it possible to install hamachi or a similar peer to peer vpn? hamachi does a linux one here:
and then you can install the client on your desktop pc and it'll act as if its on the same network.
I found it can get through pretty secure environments. I've personally had it work on most airport/cafe connections.
If you need any help let me know
Hm. This is weird.
LogMeIn corrupted Hamachi. I wouldn't do that. And where is tinc?
Besides Remmina, which is a pretty basic client, and TightVNC, I do not see one trustworthy solution here. Ok, you can post your privacy on facebook but that doesnt mean you have to use shitty vpn and remote tools for the people you are trying to help. GoToMyPC or AnyDesk ware way worse than using teamviewer still.
Some routers allow this, but it's incredibly rare. In most cases your friend will have to either forward the port terraria uses (7777 by default, as /u/niels309 said) or you will both have to use some kind of tunnelling engine. I use hamachi for my terraria server; it's free for up to five computers, fairly reliable and is used by lots of gamers, so support is easy to come by on most game forums.
Hope this helps.
