Hi there, a lot has happened since my last post here. The original ScrapGuide app got suspended from the PlayStore in the beginning of this week and after a lot of emails and trouble with Google I had to reupload it as a new app. If you are curious, they suspended it for impersonation. They said that this app is claiming to be officially from Axolot Games. So the new ScrapGuide is the old app with an update and a new icon.
So if you have the old app installed, you can uninstall it and install the new one as it wont get updated anymore. Keep in mind that all your saved data as clothing you may have marked as owned or notepad entries will be gone.
You can find more info about the latest update over on r/scrapguide in this post.
Feel free to leave suggestions or comments! A rating or review on the app is also much appreciated, as those are also gone, sadly.
Thank you very much for your support and have fun playing!
Hi there,
I have prepared a new update of ScrapGuide.
I've added a new tutorial about the timer and how to build a clock with it. Additionally I added Item ID's to all items and the function to search for them

The full changelist is available at r/scrapguide, in this post.

You can download the app here from Google Play.

Feel free to leave any suggestions or critics.
Jup, it's available since this morning so the algorithm didn't index it yet for the search. This will happen within the next couple of hours as soon as the app gets some downloads.
For now please take this link.

Hi,
It's me again. I just updated the Scrap Mechanic guide app and it has a new kinda big feature. It's the raid calculator. You can put in how much of which crop you have planted and it will calculate the amount of enemies that will attack you in the next night. Special thanks to u/greeny-dev who showed me how his webversion of the calculator works. I also updated the data according to the 0.4.6 test (19. June) version of the game.

Feel free to try it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blazecode.scrapguide

Please leave a rating if you like it, this really helps out with the search engine optimization. If you however don't like it, just text me and I will do my best to help you out.

Last time a lot of people asked my if the app will be released for iOS. The answer is no, at least for now. The app is natively written for Android, that means if I wanted to release it on iOS I would have to rewrite the whole thing. The second reason is, that I don't have an Apple developer license. It is 99$ per year and I don't earn money with my apps and I just do this in my spare time.

Thanks and have fun playing!
Maybe the other game I play is getting a Gravity Gun, Astroneer. But in that game you can already move things with your hands. Its in alpha too, but their wiki says nothing of it. I had to look there too.
Good job, this is an awesome idea! I'm the developer of ScrapGuide and I think this would be a great fit for the app. What do you think about that?
My game PC case is open but the motherboard has a metal backplate, I use a Thermaltake P3. It's fine for games and headphones but no way would I record anything on it. I'm a musician and I have a studio PC that is in a solid case, no plastic. Even the fan covers are grounded stainless steel mesh. There's a reason for this, the case is a faraday cage and all input and output is isolated and filtered. If I plugged my Bass and interface into that system of yours you'd be slammed with white noise like an old TV with no signal. I'm sure you hear all kinds of white noise and high frequency sounds bleeding from that system right now. My game PC is noticeably noisier, I have the same software on it and usually just do scales and slow repetitive practice of songs, it's ok but I don't want that going into an amp and it's not something you'd want to record with. Oh I should warn you about CB and HAM radio guys, One of them keys up near you with any kind of Linear Amplifier it WILL at the least, bleed over your PC speakers and your system will likely be unstable. At the worst case, Say I'm in the driveway with a 1000 Watt Linear, it would be smoked and a very real fire hazard. Your risking your gear shortcutting a case, there's no arguing with that. Open any console and you will see RF shielding. Yeah its a plastic box, but they still need that thin foil layer to block RF. Here is a dead cheap solution for you, notice the metal backplate.
heres the link: (yes its free) https://code.visualstudio.com/download
it has really good tools and syntax highlighting so its better for finding and editing game files.
Just install Steam (wine) via Lutris and install scrap mechanic from there. Or use wine directly to install steam (Download the windows client and run the file with wine).
Here is the proton issue on Github where this topic is discussed: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2165
We might just see a fix in Steam (it seems to be a steam API issue), that would be the best.
I have a technique that I am currently testing and it is very conclusive for the moment.
In addition to having installed steam and scrap-mechanic on both pc. Install Hamachi on the two pc https://www.vpn.net/ and each pc create an account.
The person with the best connection will be the host of the game scrap mechanic and the host of the Hamachi server.
The second player connects to the Hamachi server of the host pc and then connects in the normal way on scrap.
Personally when I do this with my friends, they have no bug. If it works well tell me because on my side it's only tests. For two players it works but for three its bug.
Hoping to have helped
If you have any questions or if I explained incorrectly ask me I will be happy to help you
What is the crash like? No Mouse, no keyboard input? But screen is showing or straight to a reboot.
Scrap Mechanic pushes Video to 100% simple Video settings might help
The after 10 minutes sounds like an overheat.... Thermal shutdown. On the GPU video card.
Open your case, ID the CPU and Video Card (normally facing down) - Do they have coolers. Are the fans dusty? Is the heat exchange / heatsink dusty on the sides?
Run the game with the covers off. Does the fan get noisy / faster?
Run -> https://openhardwaremonitor.org/ or Task manager
This will give you real CPU temp. (GPU at 75 is hot but OK)
Old school Rule of thumb on a CPU / GPU Heat. - Do so at your own risk
If you can to touch it and hold your finger on it (the heat sink or back of Video card) - OK temp < 45
If you can to touch it and hold your finger on it and it burns after a few secs - Warning temp ~= 50 this should be your running temp no hotter
If you touch it and it burns straight away - Fix it. To hot - temp >> 50
If its an older PC the thermal paste could be starting to fail. - This is last resort. Fix dust first.
my most lag inducting creation was a An 3 section extendable saw mill with roller bed. Even attached to a post it would create lag. After it was welded. Taking the tires off gave the most lag relief.
For the collisions, my theory is when an object is off grid it has an angle, now think trig, if that object is against another elevated, it now has elevation, think cube with a line through 2 faces its trying to work out friction / slippage calculate for of all cubes in a creation. Then those 2 touching objects effect each other (bearings, suspension, flex in pistons, tires, lose stack of resource bars), Anything off grid, ie not welded needs some calculation, Suspension stiffness, creates lots of calculation to get the "Angle". this the way I see the lag. The "Heavier" objects like fruit bails have more effect. Its why Heavy many suspension creations have most lag reduction effect when welded.
If you monitor your CPU https://openhardwaremonitor.org/
when you look at a creation it will help you work out whats going on. A large wall between cars so you can only see a small portion of the creations at a time can help too.
I totally get your intentions, but its not possible to not be tracked. Every website, service whatever will collect data and not everyone has evil plans. Most of that data is used to improve the services you are using.
According to this website 95% of all apps in the Google Play store are using Firebase, so it's nearly impossible to get around this without cutting the internet access to your device.
Hi there,
I have prepared a new update of ScrapGuide.
I've added a new tutorial featuring all available commands in the survival, challenge and creative mode. You can copy them by either selecting it manually and then copy it or just by tapping on the item in the list. There are plenty of more changes visible in the full changelist.
The full changelist is available at r/scrapguide, in this post.
You can download the app here from Google Play.
Feel free to leave any suggestions or critics.
Hi there,
first of all thank you very much for 10000+ downloads. It's a huge deal for me!
I have prepared a new update of ScrapGuide.
I've added a notepad function for you to keep your to-do's. Another thing is that you can now copy the item ID's. There are a couple of changes more, you can see them in the full changelist.

Hi,
I was working on a Survival Guide app since the launch of survival, it was in closed alpha for a couple of weeks and now I'm pushing it into open beta. You may remember the poll about an app icon for a guide app, which I posted here before, this actually is the one. You can look up items with their properties and crafting cost as well as the locations with short descriptions. I will keep working on this app and improve it further. The information about items in the app is updated to the version V0.4.6 of the game, which currently is in the test branch on Steam.

It's exclusive to Android, sorry Apple friends.
You can download it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blazecode.scrapguide
Please keep in mind this is still a beta release.

Have fun playing, feedback is very appreciated.
You don't need to get an $1000 computer. For something like Scrap Mechanic, you can get a computer that will run it (and most games) for like $500.
Edit: For example, here's a computer you could build yourself that would have no problem running most games at 1080p on medium-high. Total is under $500. There are some decent prebuilt computers you can get for around $700, like this one.
Alright, that PC is admittedly fairly old. Your CPU will probably bottleneck most modern GPUs. I wouldn't go with anything expensive, so you should probably get a GT 1030 or RX 550. They're new, don't consume much power, are fairly cheap, and aren't very power hungry (I think the RX 550 consumes more then the 1030).
If you can only buy off of this list, I'd go with any of the RX 550s. The only GT 1030 on it is fanless. You could also try the 750 Ti, but it's a bit older and not as powerful. A 1050/1050 Ti could also work, too.
If you're still unsure, /r/buildapc might have better advice then me.
