Fully uninstall whatever you downloaded and run your Anti-virus, I have no clue what you have downloaded but it is not actually CloneHero.
The actual game is downloaded from Clonehero.net, and the Sub's sidebar has links to multiple trusted sources for getting songs.
Looks to be the breakaway wire for xbox 360 controllers. The usb end can be bought on amazon. Wired Controller USB Breakaway Cable for Microsoft Xbox 360 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R7L8KJP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vPtFDbWMDGB5K
I use this one but there are some other cheap ones.
I didn't even install the drivers. It automatically mapped to B on the keyboard, so I turned tilt off, mapped star power on the keyboard section to B, and it just works.
There are some cheaper ones, generally they're mapped to H or B, but there is some optional firmware you can install. There's a lot of bad reviews about build quality on the cheaper ones, but for like $8, I'd go for it.
Great thing about it is using it to reset in practice mode without moving your hands.
Edit: link isn't working, hol up
Edit: got it
No. That's for GH Live, as it says in the description.
You need the Microsoft Wireless Receiver for 360 controllers, like this.
Also that's a World Tour guitar, not a GH5/Band Hero guitar.
Pretty sure you have a xbox 360 guitar without the extra dongle at the end. The Dongle the best I could tell was to make the cable "break away". You can buy replacements on amazon.
Of course it does. And even it actually didn't, it still would if you used a program like JoyToKey or similar. Just enable gamepad mode in-game and it should work just like using a gamepad in Legends of Rock. Multiple players should be no problem either.
You do of course need a PS2 controller adapter in order to connect it to your device to begin with.
No idea man, all I know is that I purchased this one off Amazon, hasn't failed me yet. Best of luck finding what you need. (Here's hoping I formatted the link right, never done this before)
I just wrote a batch file to do this. Simply paste the code into a text file, save it as chcleaner.bat
, and run it as chcleaner.bat <location of badsongs.txt> <location of Songs directory>
. I'm a noob at this, so please let me know if it has any issues. Constructive criticism is very welcome :)
For those who don't know how to run batch files:
cd <directory>
where <directory>
is the path to wherever you saved chcleaner.bat
.chcleaner.bat <location of badsongs.txt> <location of Songs directory>
. Usually these are C:\Program Files\CloneHero\clonehero-win64\clonehero-win64\badsongs.txt
and C:\Program Files\CloneHero\clonehero-win64\clonehero-win64\Songs\
. If the directory has a space in its name (like Program Files), put double quotes around the file path. For example: chcleaner.bat "C:\Program Files\CloneHero\clonehero-win64\clonehero-win64\badsongs.txt" "C:\Program Files\CloneHero\clonehero-win64\clonehero-win64\Songs\"
Hope this helps :)
Pretty neat, thanks! Just some fair warnings and disclaimers from looking at the code:
Requirements:
* You will need 7zip installed specifically at C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe
if the versions downloaded are of the 7z
format
Caveats:
* It will only work for minor version increments, e.g. v0.22.4 to v0.22.5, not v0.22.4 to v0.23.0, or even v0.22.4 to v1.0-alpha for instance.
* It will overwrite your settings.ini
file on update, which you might not want to happen
* This relies exclusively on the dl.clonehero.net CDN and the naming used for the URLs. It won't work if a new version is published for instance on Google Drive or MEGA.
Suggestion: * There are actually some (undocumented for now) JSON endpoints to check for versions and latest version, if you want to use them instead of trying out dl.clonehero.net URLs: * https://clonehero.net/json/latest-version.json for the latest version * https://clonehero.net/json/versions.json for all downloadable versions
I bought these for the gh2 xplorer and they work
you can just grab any random adapter off amazon and most should work. try this one.
Just any USB foot pedal. The cheap ones are usually pre-mapped to the B or H key so you don’t even have to install drivers.
I got this one because it had the best reviews:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAL3DV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_2jbUFbSJQNTRG
Been working great for like 2 years
I got this adapter, and I've seen it listed as a "guaranteed to work" adapter for this type of guitar for Clone Hero. Should I just get another adapter from Amazon and hope that was the issue?
idk if $50 is affordable to you but I just got the Rock Band 4 Strat on Amazon. It seems to work okay for me.
Beyond investing in a foot pedal, you can make makeshift foot pedal with your keyboard, mouse, a controller, etc. I used my PS4 controller's touchpad button as starpower before I got a foot pedal.
There's really not much else you can do. A lot of people, including me, use this, but there's also so cheaper ones on amazon.
Most of the cable strain relief you see are put on the cable before its terminated, so it wouldn't be possible to apply it to a normal usb cable without cutting it.
The closest you'd be able to use on a normal cable are "cable savers" like these.
This is the exact one I bought.

They wont need to say clone hero on them, wii guitars work either with ralphnet or a wiimote and witarthing
Xbox. I have the Rock Band 3 Pro Midi adapter.
This is the kit I have which the manual for it states it has 4 General Midi 1 sets.
Standard Room Power Electric
The issue I'm running into now is trying to find the proper MIDI numbers for each head to make sure it will work with the adapter. Since I can't program each head individually, I don't know what number the control unit is assigning to them in each specified kit.
You can either use:
Wiimote & Wiitarthing
Or
Or
Emio Edge (cheaper option, will need a USB extension) (No whammy)
There’s the adapter. Next the the controller is what you’ll plug the guitar into. The snes controller is just a bonus. Make sure to get a USB extension too, if you do purchase it.

I see, thanks for the help! I bought the receiver below on the recommendation from this sub but I guess that is the issue in this case. I'll try to find a genuine one at a good price:

Just on Amazon. Was lucky to find these red ones that fit the colour scheme is all hahha. I'll link it here but I am in Australia, so not sure of it's availability globally
I have no idea about 1k, vs 10k, vs 1000k
If you decide to go wired. My wife has hers working with the adapter from this and an USB extension.
I’ve heard decent things about the Emio Edge
EMiO Edge Gamepad for SNES Mini - Super NES ---They normally cost around $12 on Amazon.
While waiting the three months it took in standard shipping for my Raphnet adapter to arrive, I used the EMiO adapter off Amazon in the meantime and it worked extremely well for the price it costs. Unfortunately no whammy function but for an average Clone Hero player like me I had zero complaints with it.

Here's the link for it: https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=sr\_1\_2?keywords=EMiO+Edge+Gamepad+for+SNES+Mini+-+Super+NES&qid=1663879617&sr=8-2
I use one like this, cheap but worked, and can use two guitars on it !
As far as USB-A to USB-C adapters any should work. Otherwise, if you can't map your guitar buttons you may need this

I made an edit but i think it was after your comment lmfao.
> https://www.amazon.com/CGTime-micro-Female-header-motherboard/dp/B01MXMZL49/ref=sr_1_5 > > There's an option if it's Micro USB on your Arduino, $7 free next-day shipping on Prime. You could prolly find it cheaper also, just search around for "micro usb to header cable" and 50cm is the standard length usually which should be enough.
i use this to connect my 360 guitar to my mac. i’ve never had any issues and all you have to do is plug it in.
For most guitars, some kind of adapter. For Wii, there are a few options, the best being the Raphnet but they're usually out of stock lately. This one works (yes you buy the whole thing just for the adapter), but without tilt/whammy, and the cable is very short. There are other adapters that may work but I haven't tried.
Option 3 is a standard Wiimote with Bluetooth, either built in to your PC or with an adapter.
Option 4 is my favorite but takes the most work and soldering: mod it with a microcontroller
If it's a wireless Xbox 360 guitar, you'll need the 360 wireless adapter for PC, something like this. The official one is hard to come by anymore, and there are a few extra steps you need to go through to get the 3rd-party ones working
Wii guitars are really good, it's just about finding an adapter, and even then the cheapest adapter I know of that works is only $10 https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3FAQYLHLUQF5B&keywords=emio+adapter&qid=1661467530&sprefix=emio%2Caps%2C267&sr=8-1
Would this work?
Sorry for the bad link but something like this, you'll just need to find one in your region.
I have xbox 360 guitar controllers - you'll need an adapter to use them but they work fine - https://www.amazon.com/Mcbazel-Wireless-Receiver-Microsoft-Xbox-360/dp/B076GZFLR3/ref=sr_1_35?crid=1GWZRF0HU2NZE&keywords=xbox+360+windows+10&qid=1660982621&sprefix=xbox+360+windows+10%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-35
Will have to manually install the drivers but it's pretty easy - certainly cheaper even if they have driven up in price in the past few years
I found one on eBay before but it was almost $200 which is insane. I am currently using a Wii Les Paul and this adapter that's working well for me. The whammy doesn't work, but I'm not going for high scores. It's a cheap alternative until they come back in stock.
to anyone who doesnt know already and is looking for the adapter for Wii
The raphnet adapter is frequently out of stock and it's expensive to ship to the US.
There's a cheaper adapter on Amazon that works with Wii guitars (with the exception of the whammy bar)

Here's a good wii guitar on amazon, only 60 bucks which is a little steep but its free shipping. Here's a good adapter, though it won't work with whammy and tilt without a raphnet adapter but im pretty sure they are sold out until next year or something crazy like that.
I have both the guitar and adapter
Elecom only works with Wii Les Paul, and not always either.
The only adapters that work are Raphnet (out of stock currently), Emio (no whammy or joystick support on that one though) or Arduino-based one if you know how to solder.
So you need something like this. https://www.amazon.com.au/Wireless-Controller-Receiver-Adapter-Microsoft/dp/B07RD4D14F/ref=asc_df_B07RD4D14F/?tag=googleshopmob-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=464806015567&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7243065551190770226&hvpone=&hvpt...
Sorry for the bad link. Amazon sucks for links. If this looks like what you bought then you have probably bought the correct thing. If that's the case, I'm thinking you just didn't tell it what drivers to use.
This is a solid alternate. Whammy/Tilt doesn’t work but you can map Star power to select to fix the tilt. If you’re ok without whammy until Raphnet restocks, this is a safe bet. You’ll also want to snag an extension cable.
Next best option to Raphnet, here, I do believe using this makes it so the tilt & whammy don’t work, iirc, but you can map Star power the select button & be able yo still use it. Get an extension, too.
This right here should work. Just remember to press spacebar on your keyboard when you load the game, and bind the buttons to the SG. Also, whammy bar may not work unless you download SCP tool kit driver and set it up for PS3. Other than that, it's the cheapest option at the moment.
This works, but I don't believe whammy/tilt do
360 controllers/guitars should work fine with this type of adapter.
I have a cheap Chinese adapter I bought from ebay well over 10 years ago and it still works with my 360 guitars just fine.
EMIO Adapter works wonders if you don't care about the whammy! Get the adapter, USB extension cable, plug it all up, then hold minus on the guitar and your PC should be able to read it.
I have personally been kind of going back and forth on what to do about this as well, as my current/easiest solution is just micro to usb a cables, but im looking at something like this
https://www.elecbee.com/en-11308-micro-usb-b-male-30-5-pin-connector-solder-type-for-cable
to something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Type-C-Breakout-Serial-Connector-Converter/dp/B09KC1SMGD/
and mounting it on the guitar with a glued/epoxied in place piece of wood at the seam where the top and bottom meet.
my main problem is if i need to worry about signal integrity from whatever usb 1.1 of the pico pi so I need to use actual usb cable, or could I run a generic ribbon cable to it. long term this is what I want to mod it to, short term I just remove the phone cable pedal port, and run the cable through that.
If you want to make the neck detachable, https://www.amazon.com/DIYhz-Straight-Connector-Computer-Breadboard/dp/B07BS126FK/
cut it in a 4 strip and then a 2 strip, and glue them together so it comes out like
0000
-00-
that way its somewhat 'keyed' and you can't accidently put it in the wrong way, I also linked that style specifically because you don't have to sacrifice the female parts.
I plan on making my necks swappable this way for transport/storage/general ease of getting access to the neck or body without needing to deal with both at once.
I also plan to make an 18~ pin version of this so if need be I can swap between internal normal hardware and arduino for any guitars I have that actually have dongles or would work with console without hunding down expensive parts, the times I would do that are exceedingly rare, but would be nice to be able to.
https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC
Whammy/Tilt star power does not work. It works fine other than that. You'll need a Male to Female usb cable as the adapter is very short.
If you purchase this it comes with the adapter needed, the only downfall is that my whammy doesn't work (not sure if its the adapter or the guitar though).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HPD5TC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details 12 dollars for plug-n-play device to your computer. I would also buy a USB extension cable if you get it.
https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Edge-Gamepad-SNES-Mini-nintendo/dp/B073HPD5TC this is the cheapest and reliable adapter that is known to work. I have 0 issue with it however you need a female to male usb cable cause the adapter is hella short.
you need a xbox 360 controller receiver :) https://www.amazon.com/Mcbazel-Wireless-Receiver-Microsoft-Xbox-360/dp/B076GZFLR3/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=Xbox+360+Wireless+Gaming+Receiver&qid=1656294774&sr=8-4
Thank you. I am ordering a microsoft dongle from amazon. It's the guitar hero live dongle. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073G8X648/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1LDW2JLFNFD1&psc=1 I have the chinese receiver and I cannot get it to work for the life of me. I tried doing the manual driver update and it just won't sync up with the guitar(s) unforunately. So, hopefully this new one works when i get it tomorrow.
Arcaea. I used to play this game years ago. It's still fun but, you have to pay to get the harder songs. After losing my old account and starting from scratch with the easier songs it's demotivating.
The receiver you want is the Xbox 360 Wireless receiver, they're a little expensive now at $40+ on eBay right now. I got a knock-off receiver on Amazon but it's currently out of stock and it works well. When I plugged in the receiver, I had to manually go into device manager and pick the official Microsoft driver for the receiver and it worked.

Pretty sure I use this one, need to download and mess with the drivers to get it to properly work but there’s YouTube videos on how to do that
I'll link the adapter I've got, thats all you'llneed to make it work. Some of the comments/reviews on the item said you needed to download plug-ins to make it work, but for me it was plug and play. There's no plan, check the trello board to see what's planned. The closest thing is to sort by playlist and put each tier in a subfolder and/or use the playlist_track
song.ini field to put the songs in the right order.
Just a heads up for anyone that gets here, I got one working using an adapter I already had for my Nintendo switch. I set it to the red mode, which I think is the switch mode, and almost everything worked. I need to do more testing, as it picked up the whammy but i'm not sure it was working. Tilt also didn't work, though I dont know if the xplorer had tilt?
Ok so there is a better way! On Amazon there is a SNES controller for $10 that is terrible, but it comes with the adapter for wii guitars to usb. All you need is that and a usb extender cord because it is short. Adapter. Same extender I have ($8) I haven’t experienced any lag or delay while using this. It’s great if you don’t want to spend a bunch of money on a silly cord
I purchased this adapter to use with a Wii LP on my MacBook. No whammy or tilt support. Despite this, the $9 price and quick Amazon shipping fit my needs. It’s a great solution for me to take CH on the go. If you go for this make sure to get a USB extension of appropriate length! The actual adapter is maybe 3 inches long.
Here ya go. 2 Pack Replacement Dongle USB Breakaway Cable for Xbox 360 Wired Controllers - Dark Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q5RHDRF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CQE2SGNS6TSWBYFD1XSH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here's one that comes with a SNES controller. I have this for my secondary controller and it works great. You'll probably also need to get a USB extender to make it reach, and also be sure to set your keybinds when using it for the first time.
This 100 percent works BUT the cable is super short. I recommend buying a female to male usb to extend the length 👍
Have you thought of repurposing the "pedal port" to be used as a port for where you could install a female usb c port? That way, you can have a removable cable and use whatever cable length you want!
https://www.amazon.com/USB-C-Female-Extension-Cable-Panel/dp/B075R7QBQD
Got the guitar from here, works pretty well. Only issue was trying to use 2 of the same guitars on PC, kept registering as 1 guitar. Might try looking for a usb guitar eventually.
I had the same issue! I used some WD 40 silicon spray, worked a charm!
Barring the filament used I think I paid $30-$40 for the USB controller and a pack of Low Profile switches. I went with red switches but someone recommended using brown for the frets and green for the strum bar
I would use this wireless reciever from Amazon. You only need one, it can connect 4 guitars. I know for sure this works with Xbox 360 Guitar Hero guitars, but from what others are saying on this post Rock Band guitars work the same
ShoppingOnBed Wireless USB Gaming... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JC68MHU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
You may have to manually assign the drivers for this device when you plug it into your PC so the Xbox 360 guitar will recognize it as an Xbox 360 Wireless reciever and be able to connect.
Go into device manager on your pc and see what the dongle appears as. For me it was listed as "unknown device", so I had to manually set it as a wireless receiver. I did this by selecting the device and updating the drivers. I selected "Browse my computer for drivers", then I selected "Let me pick from a list". Then at the top of the next list select "Show all devices". Then select Microsoft under the manager list and then Xbox 360 Wireless reciever for Windows under the Model list.
It's pretty simple tbh, I found a controller clip file on thingiverse then imported it into CAD, edited it to have a sort of insert to slide onto the ruler.
then I bought a 5 key macropad on Amazon
3d printed flat keycaps to make it easier to press, and for the last part which isn't shown here, I modeled my own baseplate for the keypad which let it be inserted onto the ruler so I didn't have to tape it. Lol
Depending how much work you're willing to put in to the repair, it would be really simple to open up the guitar, glue one of these onto the inside of the guitar in whatever orientation you prefer, and then solder it to the same point on the board as the select button, so whenever you tilt the guitar, the switch would activate the select button and voila!
Not one of those foot pedals. Idk if that would work.
I use this one, though it looks like there are some cheaper alternatives too.
If you have Xbox 360 wireless guitars, I would use this wireless reciever from Amazon. You only need one, it can connect 4 guitars:
ShoppingOnBed Wireless USB Gaming... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JC68MHU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The wireless receiver you have, I looked up the model number you posted and all that comes up is a guitar hero live wireless dongle, which won't work for Xbox 360 guitars.
Try the wireless reciever I posted the link to, it works like a charm for me. I just had to change the drivers like I said in my last comment and it worked for me.
if you do the polybar, and not knowing the 3d printer you have, I suggest a uv curing resin so you can coat the outside, it should act as a way to strengthen the prints, as well as acting as a smooth surface so if there is any friction its a non issue.
I also suggest looking at something like this
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ULEBKM--traveler-guitar-ultra-light-electric-matte-black
one thing with whammy bars is a lot are friction fit, you could probably friction fit the piece of metal into the 3d print, or get some metal bits to to allow it to friction fit without wear, guitars are a lot more comfortable if you can get them in a good resting position.
also
Not that exact listing, but that brand of silicone lube, I have a sinden light gun that I use that on for the friction bits where plastic is on plastic, it works great for keeping parts free moving.
for 2 parts with wood, I think the best way to do this would be with locking latches, something like this
butt flat wood against flat wood, latch it in place, and it should be stable enough for gameplay, and unless someone sees what you are playing, taken apart they would probably never guess what it is. you could also obfuscate what it does by having more buttons on it. thinking about it a bit, with a zero delay kit,
would give you nearly everything you want. if you put a weaker spring in it you could probably use the joystick it comes with as a pick up and down motion, and if you make it right it could double as a fightstick, granted that would be a bit hard, I would still recommend wiring up with hdmi or ethernet just because it would be easier to make quick disconnects.
It most likely won't
Something like this should, it might require forcing drivers since PID is different from genuine Microsoft receiver
https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSTENT-Wireless-Controller-Compatible-Microsoft/dp/B00F52MYUM/
Awesome thanks. Is there a particular receiver recommended?
The best value for money ones seem to be Xbox360 controllers which come bundled with a receiver:
Would the receiver bundled with this controller work with the guitars?
I got this one about a month ago. You'll need to follow the instructions on the card provided in the packaging to update the drivers. About $30 and has great response time.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F52MYUM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also, the drivers have a funky way of uninstalling themselves every once in a while. (Then again, I am on an Insider copy of Windows 11)
If your guitar doesn't connect for some reason, just follow the steps on the card again and reinstall the drivers. It takes no longer then 45 seconds.
Just got this: ShoppingOnBed Wireless USB Gaming... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JC68MHU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It works perfectly fine for Clone Hero with Les Paul and World Tour guitars. The only thing is when you set this up, you have to go to device manager, select the unknown device which is the receiver. Then you have to manually set the drivers for the device as "Xbox 360 Wireless Reciever" drivers in device manager.
This is the one I just bought. Worked plug and play with my windows 10 pc, I havent used it for clone here yet, but it works with ghwt:de and rb2/rb3dx. Shipping takes a while as it's from China, but thats the only downside I had with it
in my experince, sadly this is the only thing i had work for guitars for windows
