High rune drops are significantly increased (I farmed for an hour and got Vex, Ohm, Jah, 2x Cham). Bosses drop like 5-7 uniques (so you'll still need to grind a bit to get what you want), and they added mini-bosses that drop a lot of sets/uniques.

This killed the grind a little too much for me, but it may be what you are looking for.

Diablo 2 is well worth $10 ($20 with expansion). I've sunk more hours into this game over the years than ANY other game I have; consistently playing since it came out in 2000.

Whether you get the digital key or the physical copy from Amazon (recommended) you should log into battle.net and register the CD Key, that way you can download it from anywhere at any time.

Just last weekend on PlugY my buddy and I loaded up our decade old characters and played over Hamachi. It generates a VPN, creating an effective LAN environment with new IP addresses.

Install Hamachi.

Sign up for the service (free).

Create Server (Choosing a unique name).

Have your buddy do the same, but instead they should join the server name you made.

Hop into D2, and TCP/IP connect directly using the new IP.

Play D2 like old times.

There is probably some program that can map your mouse buttons to a specific keyboard key. Where as you can put those skills into the config and use.

You can try my mod it has a ton of qol improvements, new endgame dungeons, slightly higher drop rates and some new uniques. But everything is pretty balanced and I'm trying to keep it vanilla like so that it feels like a big expansion!

Try this There are a bunch of mods that go from slight tweaks of the game, to full blown remakes. This one was my personal favorite, was supposedly going to get updated but seems to be dead again.

I won't go over everything as it's already been pretty much said. But MODS - when you want something different to vanilla (plain Diablo 2 without any mods) Diablo 2, you need and should mod it -

I won't link them (a quick search will bring up the info and download links), but some of the really good mods are: Zy-El (really hard, has great custom music and over 48,000 crafting recipes), AfterMath (good music, over 53,000 crafting recipes), MedianXL, Nezeramontias (my personal favourite) and of course, Plugy (add single player ladder features, can always enter cow level even when king is killed, infinite stash, respec etc).

Oh and these mods require the Diablo 2 Expansion (Lord Of Destruction), which itself changes the game for the better from the beginning.

As for Diablo 3 (lol), the game looks like it's from a Mickey Mouse. Also, the online requirement is ridiculous. I only want to play single player so making me connect to the Internet, and indeed - the other side of the world (USA) to play is stupid. I won't be subjecting myself to not only connect to the Internet but the other side of the world (USA) just to play a game.

You need to install Google Backup and Sync application: https://www.google.com/drive/download/backup-and-sync/ - then tell it what your google credentials are, which folders to backup to drive whenever there's a change. Then just keep the service running and every time you overwrite a save, you will see the little icon in the taskbar moving, as it uploads your saves to gdrive.

Enough to say, I set it up after losing my plugy shared stash. :-)

I'm trying to install this "Singleplayer Enhancement" thing from moddb so I can have more inventory space but I'm getting these security warnings that I've never seen before. Did I get a bad file, or is this "normal"? All I want is more storage, but this kinda scares me. What would you do?

You could also try a program called DxWnd and see if you have any luck. I've played around with it before but don't have a widescreen monitor so its kinda pointless for me in a lot of ways.

A hero editor is a program you could use to modify a level 1 single player character and recreate your ladder character “manually”

It would probably you some time to do, but it’s the only way I know you could recreate a Useast character into a single player one because Useast ladder character are saved on Blizzard’s data servers while single player characters are saved files on your pc , which you could edit easily with the hero editor

If your ok with Linux it works flawlessly there and has done for years. Install lutris and then just use the battle.bet install script for it.

Try this installer. You have to click show unpublished installers.

Alternatively, try looking up guides for how to use WINE and reading the rest of the comments in that post on the Lutris forums. It's not that hard, but it does require a bit more manual setup than just clicking "Install" on Lutris like a game that's been out for longer and has a well tested, working install script for it.

You have to use some commands in the terminal to create the WINE prefix. Then you have to add the game manually to Lutris (what "manually" means is you have to do it yourself, as opposed to 'automatically').

Diablo 2 Patch 3.0 mod. It does what you're asking and some. Runs on 1.13c with plugy and is really easy to install. There's 50+ pages of reasonable changes in gameplay and a few character skill tweaks. Makes it a bit more difficult and bosses feel like bosses. Nothing that makes it feel like a vastly different game though. A bunch of low level sets that aren't impossible to get max bonus from before level 25. The creator plays it too so it's been often updated with items, runewords, cube recipes and general game functions.

Simple install as well. Follow the directions and you'll have it working within 10 minutes.

I've been playing it the last few weeks and having a good time with it. Used to play bnet for 8+ years when I was younger but I find I don't have the time or want to grind as much. It's singleplayer and once you get a character to a high enough level you can open multiple windows using D2SE to play over your own IP and rush yourself to remove a bit more of the grind.

Item Drop

- A general decrease in junk-drops
- Increased general drop rate for Uniques by ~300%
- Increased general drop rate for Sets by ~500%
- Increased general drop rate for Rares by ~150%
- Massively increased the drop-rates of runes, especially of high-runes
- Adjusted the ratio of getting uber-rare items
- Chests are less likely to drop junk
- Super Unique Monsters (like Rakanishu e.g.) are far more likely to drop set-items
- Increased drop-rate of unique monsters
- The item-level and the required-level of 80+ weapons and armors were lowered, to increase the chance of them dropping before level 80

Not OP, but I got Diablo 2 to work using a program called Lutris, it's a game manager for Linux that has a bunch of different wine versions for easy usage

I haven't tried a hero editor but have heard it has problems due to PlugY, possibly due to the larger stash, or something along those lines.

I don't know what what your character was like or the gear but if you want you could download this shared stash file (_LOD_SharedStashSave.sss) and take things from it, then when done put your own shared stash file back in (presuming you remember to back up yours first). It isn't amazing but should have enough to get you going.

Also if you're feeling a little adventurous you could try the Loot Filter that's also available there (place the files in your game folder then once the game is going run the injector and select all instances if selecting only 1 doesn't work).

It now shows more information like number of sockets, level, and gold value you'll get for it (though unidentified items have their value lowered), etc. Also pops up a message when certain items drop like runes and marks them on the map.

Though one warning, the filter is set up to exclude some low level things like low level potions, and ammunition and gold piles of less than 3500. So if you're starting from scratch you need to keep that in mind, or you can edit the "ItemDisplay.cfg" and remove lines that hide the gold, ammunition and small potions (or you can put // at the start of a line to comment it out so it becomes ignored so it's easier to enable that line later).

Not sure why Gestureworks isn't working for you. I'll hopefully try it myself soon.

There is another program called Virtual Gamepad that you can try.

Also, you can look into tablet cases that have a keyboard built in. They are on amazon for only like $10 or less.

It's brilliant, really. There are many, awesome additions to the mod - souls from most mobs (the Coldworm Soul does like 300 odd poison damage over 12 seconds, cannot be frozen, as well as resistances). You can create sockets, as well as remove them, with the right tools etc.

The "shotgun" is just a crossbow, but it fires explosive arrows or bolts. There's also plasma guns, laser pistols (again just bows) and all sorts. One of the best mods IMO.

Install this (a general purpose file search tool suitable as a functional replacement for standard Windows search)

Once installed, run and just search for (at the top): .d2s and see if you can locate your character of which will have such a file named after it.

Be aware that it may take awhile for Everything to build the initial file indexing data after it's installed (you can tell it's complete once the status bottom-left no longer says "Scanning")

There's a known issue with PlugY where-in it can destroy a savefile, however other savefiles wouldn't be affected and so this sounds like something else (e.g, a disk failure)

To answer your question, yes editing the .txt files works more or less the same as it did with LoD. You could definitely edit drop rates if that's something you want to do. It's slightly more complicated with D2R though. Here's a guide for How to Mod D2R.

I think a laptop with a 1060 will be better, but it may be difficult to get a new one - if that is something you want.

The 1660 is my recommendation for a new device.

With a 1650 when the action gets more intense beyond the first act or two, I think the slower fps may really make the experience much less enjoyable...and with laptops, upgrading the graphics card is either really difficult or not possible.

1660ti or 1660 is much better than the 1650, the difference in performance is massive.

You do not need a strong CPU (processor) to play the Sims or Diablo 2 Resurrected. The laptop you originally chose has a CPU that is much more powerful than a regular user needs - it is more tailored toward a video editor or another specialist. So instead you can get a weaker CPU and offset that with a better graphics card (GPU) like the 1660 or 1660ti.

The example I linked is a very good price, however some may be a little more expensive than your original option...maybe by a couple hundred dollars (just so you are mentally prepared).

Jesus Christ that's stupid. I reinstalled NordVPN and it get the connection has been temporarily restricted for D2. Gonna lose a lot of non permed mules with a lot of good stuff if I can't get back on within the week. I'll see if I can reboot everything to get it to connect

Just wanted to close this thread out by saying that I was able to play after a 2 week ban. Some things to note.

1. People online say the more you try to log in to your account uncessfully while banned it restarts the ban timer. I do not believe this is true as after two weeks the ban was lifted and i tried multiple times to login per day everyday upto the two weeks.

2. A friend of mine said this had happened to him and he unplugged his modem and plugged it back in and his ip reset so he was able to log back in right away after that.

In the future i will be more diligent in making sure my vpn is off. For those wondering i use NordVPN
