For those who want to take a look at the article but don't want to support Vox Media Archive Link
A lot of people have been asking how they can support the team while we work on the mod, and up until now we have not offered an option for donations.
However, now that the scout package has been released, we are now offering an option for those that wish to donate.
Please be aware though that even if we receive zero donations, it will not stop us from releasing all the content we have planned for the mod :D

Considering its position here, the game was indisputably a commercial success. It's still gaining new players at a decently steady rate, though it struggles to break its all-time peak. I'm not an analyst and I don't know about the DLC strategy though, but I did prefer A2's DLC model personally.
Greuh Liberation or AntiStasi are CTI persistent save milsim missions with resources and the like
Liberation have a good trello board to see what's being worked on https://trello.com/b/FfUXrHn1/liberation-dev
Can't find the YouTube videos I was looking for but this looks promising for AntiStasi
Ask a big guy to punch you in the chest and see if you just flinch for a fraction of a second like in the game before going about your business as usual, then ask him to punch you in the chest 6 more times.
If you think this game is anything close to realistic you should go outside more, and try learn to have a conversation without coming across as a massive condescending dickhead.
Heres what its like getting shot with body armour.
One future BI title already has the second solution you presented; DayZ (Not yet in stable version)
I'm hoping that will stick eventually to Arma series as well.
"A player character cannot directly die just by shooting its limbs - our goal here is to avoid unreliable situations like shooting the character 10 times to its feet in order for it to get killed. However, as projectiles' penetration leads to bleeding wounds, the character will die indirectly by bleeding out without a treatment. Also, limbs can be fractured if their health falls down to zero, leading to restriction in character movement unless treated"
More interesting to read about them switching from hitpoints to hitzones and things like vital organ damage in this status report
I think the idea of paid subscriptions to streaming services turns some people off from doing so. Which is why I'm here to tell you about OBS. https://obsproject.com/ It's not exceedingly difficult to get 720 out of it, which is fine for twitch.
Stream your ops, gents!
WHOA. I guess you are a thick fucking idiots. so i guess fucking microsofts fault if you poor milk all over your computer eh? fucking pillock. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ijl15
Fucking download that. put it in your damn gamefile. and enjoy asshole.
Also learn to fucking google you colossal moron.
Try reading the ARMA website or Wiki, it's right there...
>ARMA 3 is set in the near-future, during the mid-2030s, where NATO forces deployed in the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea are trying to hold off a massive Iranian military offensive from the east. During the singleplayer campaign, the player will take the role of a British Special Forces soldier, Captain Scott Miller. Initially, the player must survive on their own after friendly forces are defeated in a failed NATO operation. During the campaign, the player will face everything from lone wolf infiltration missions to the commanding of large scale armored operations. The player will be able to choose different objectives and weaponry (such as UAVs, artillery, and air support) according to their play style.
&
>Storyline Tensions rise as NATO and Iranian forces stand-off in the Aegean: the strategic fault-line between crumbling European influence and a powerful, resurgent East. But when a key radar facility drops off the grid, a Greek flashpoint risks escalating into global conflict.
>Caught up in a situation beyond their control, a botched withdrawal traps men of the US 7th Infantry Division and a clandestine group of UKSF operators in a fight for survival. With only a crippled local resistance to turn to, they must rapidly adapt to overcome an unforgiving environment and defeat a brutal enemy
Minimum requirement from CYRI.
CPU: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz CPU Speed: Info RAM: 2 GB OS: Windows Vista Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM Sound Card: Yes
Ridiculous downvoting on this sub. Sounds good, the times quite a ways off my usual Arma sessions time so there'll be no conflict.
Pretty soon they're going to be giving out 7 day trials, open beta after that. Link
Worth giving a go. EfT is to ARMA what PUBG is to CSGO.
As an honest reply?
This is the current image section, unless you're looking for the ol' corny wallpapers.
Not tested, but I found this link on the Bis Forum, it should contain the test mission with this new scope view: https://disk.yandex.com/public/?hash=g2j5%2BWx4Z6fy0pdKPbhdg56kTBxD71feH3M9td//Ay8%3D
And it seems to need the Base Jump Test Map.
If fans turn up nothing, you'll probably have to try re-pasting the GPU. Make sure you check your cards guarantee terms - If you void the warranty or guarantee by disassembling the card then you should try to return it before you do anything yourself.
It's not worth taking the card apart until you've got hold of some new paste and isopropyl alcohol to clean the old stuff off the card.
In the mean time, there are a few tests you can run to try to work out what the problem is. First off, make sure you've got the latest drivers, and if you do, try rolling back to the previous version to see if the problem persists.
Next, turn off the computer for a while and let it cool right down. Then start it back up, and run the game while it's as cold as possible. If artifacting is not immediately present, it's a cooling issue. Try running some stress tests like furmark and use GPUtemp to see how hot the card is running. If it's over 90 degrees Celsius, you're in trouble.
If the artifact is present even when the card is cold, then the VRAM may be failing and all you can do is return the card for a replacement.
I think the variable that's in play here is penetration depth. You can reproduce this with the foot consistently by changing the amount of flesh the bullet will pass through.
By aiming down on the foot from the top, like this: https://gyazo.com/6778ad9eea74acc7943c866b00f190d0
...you end up with a relatively short wound channel, and that results in 10+ shots for it to be fatal.
By contrast, if you change the angle to have the bullet travel through more foot, such as by laying down and shooting through the foot like this: https://gyazo.com/a5e44ee4e7bac2c7e30f05f1a724f9cb
... you end up with each shot doing much more damage, where you can have three hits kill the target.
The same thing probably factors into other hits as well. It doesn't seem to be truly random, but it's not immediately obvious that the depth of penetration is changing the damage applied. When the depth of penetration is the same (as in the results I posted earlier), the behavior is the same.

It's kind of like getting an Xbox game to play on a Playstation. If you can't use bootcamp then your options are limited to emulation or, you know, getting a dedicated gaming rig...
If you need help with Bootcamp try this: https://www.apple.com/au/support/bootcamp/
If you didn't already know NouberNou is one of the ACRE devs, you could go to the Patreon.com home page & search for "NouberNou" which would get you to the link for his ACRE support page.
Take a look on IsThereAnyDeal.com. It will show you the best prices for Arma 3 across multiple online stores.
You can also create waitlists/alerts for games based on price and percentage drops.
I personally use Open Broadcaster Software (https://obsproject.com/) to record gameplay - as much as it looks like it's designed for streaming only, it works extremely well for local recording too. It's also 100% free.
In terms of voice recording, you can set up multiple push-to-talk keys, or you can have the mic open/voice activated if that's your preference.
Your mileage may vary depending on your system, but I record at 1080p, 60FPS with maybe 1-2 FPS loss, which is pretty negligible.
See my YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/CallistoByte for examples of the audio/video quality. If you have a better system than me, you can probably get the quality even higher.
Good luck with your op!
If it's just your addons, you'll only notice any kind of performance impact if you're using a whole lot of them - if at all.
The important thing to have on the SSD is the PBOs that contain Altis itself, plus any other islands you use. Buildings, trees, objects and terrain textures are what makes the brunt of the streaming.
If you really want to free up space, you can use Symlinks and pick-and-choose which PBOs stay while moving everything else to your HDD.
> From what I know, is that a lot of stuff happens on the CPU, that should actually be going to the GPU.
Not really. The primary causes of CPU load are AI calculations, ballistics simulation, and script execution, all of which are difficult to move to the GPU without remaking the Arma 3 engine. Even then, some tasks are just better suited to CPUs than GPUs due to the differences in architecture.
>I think a massive performance update should also be their top priority right now.
It would be impractical to attempt this now in the middle of Arma 3's development cycle due to the amount of work that would be needed. Rest assured though that performance is one of the biggest drivers for developing the Enfusion engine for Arma 4.
Steam is almost a monopoly in terms of PC gaming so you should really get a steam account if you want to play 99% of the games that come out, the only reason you won't need steam is for games from EA (as they are exclusive to Origin, it's a store made by EA for games published by them) or for really obscure indie title. Steam is a form of DRM that adds a lot of value, people that don't like it probably don't remember the "old days".
There are very few people having problems with the game as far as I've seen.
I use DigitalOcean. The $20/mo tier works perfectly well for very small groups.
A lot of big units use NFOServers but that's probably overkill for your needs.
Honestly, why not just forward ports 2302-2305 on your router and host the games on your own computer?
There are a lot of things going on, but some of the bigger ones are:
You can get all the nitty gritty stuff in the DayZ Status Reports, which get posted on the same schedule as the Arma Sitreps. Obviously, not everything you'll find there will be applicable to the next Arma game, but it will give you a general idea of what we can expect regarding under-the-hood changes.
Few things you could do here:
Head over to /r/buildapc Lot of experts over there can help you with the technical stuff. Are you capable of assembling the parts once you've received them?
If you're near a computer store, and don't feel like building your own computer, log onto some of their sample PCs and head over to the website http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx or something similar that will show you if the PC in question is capable.
As far as laptops, it's going to be probably about twice as expensive for less quality. Its sadly the truth about laptop gaming, especially with a poorly optimized game such as Arma 2, so keep that in mind.
Best of luck.
You'll get used to it being over sensitive on zoom
I do recommend highly that you set a dead zone on your infantry config.
As a pilot, I don't have a deadzone because of the cockpit being always in view, helping me to know where I'm looking at. As a rifleman, I like to have a deadzone because I lack the visual indicators unless I'm in combat pace.
With the graphs in OpenTrack, you can do all sorts of tuning to find what pleases you. If you are looking for a 'snap' on center position, it can be done. If you're looking for a smoother 'magnetized' effect taking place around the center, you can too. Ask again here or in PM if you need help
It records all the audio your computer is playing (teamspeak, arma, music you're listening too, etc). It also can record you with your mic and can do webcam recordings of you as you play. I'm pretty sure you can broadcast to Twitch and such with it, but I haven't tried that yet. I like to record my audio separately though, so I use Audacity and don't record my audio with Shadowplay. That way you don't hear the clicking of my keyboard or my wife walking in and talking to me or something.
There are over 240 years' worth of history for each branch of the US military in Wikipedia, including detailed histories of units, battles and distinguished persons. Unsurprisingly, many other organizations, battles and persons from other nations throughout human history are also available.
EDIT: Added link for the lazy
So after some extra digging I managed to come across the ship I was referencing. Here is the link.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20619793/LPD29_v20.zip
It is the LPD made by the 15th MEU. It's made to work in conjunction with the LCAC for ArmA 2. It does work in ArmA 3, just be sure that you look at the readme file so that you stay within the limitations of the model. Here is a video of it in action, this is also were I found the link.
Check out the I&A Tanoa server hosted by /u/QS_Iron. I'm at almost 2K hours of Arma 3 and I love it for some fast and easy action. It's PvE, objective based gameplay.
It is pretty accessible to new players as long as they aren't trying to fill the advanced roles such as pilot or drone operator. I recommend trying those out after a few hours of experience playing around with the various aircraft in the editor.
The Gametracker page with the server information is here:
https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/160.202.165.21:2302/
You could try amazon but its kinda expensive or you could go to Flagmaker&print and just upload a png or jpg of it and then buy it?
Give domination a try. It's basically a large scale coop vs a bunch of AI. There are a few servers that are populated in the afternoon and evenings in the US, especially on weekends. Unfortunately, the admins aren't always around so the retards flourish sometimes.
In multiplayer, filter for domination. The Art of Warfare (TAW), Chibi's and Task Force 1776 are usually the most populated, maybe 20-40 people.
Lirik probably plays Takistan Life Revolutions or something, a roleplaying mission.
There is also wasteland and battle royal.
Hi everyone,
Besides Stratis, Tanoa and Altis iZurvive now also supports Abramia. This is our first community based map and if there is demand for it we would like to add others as well.
Note that the arma 3 maps are also available in the Android app and iOS app.
If you have any feedback please let us know.

Google: Can I run it. I'll post a link below to their site but I'm on mobile, so the layout might be messed up. Also: no help to get the game torrented will be provided here, I can guarantee you that
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/Requirements/arma-3-alpha/11602?p=r
Try Can You Run It, as that is quite a bit less illegal.
You can also just post your specs and ask opinions. I'm sure there are a few people here with almost the same specs who can let you know how it runs.
Yes, press that in-game. Otherwise you can also disable the shortcut. I found a guide here: HERE You can uninstall language packs in the control panel.
Nice flying, btw. I take it you play DCS?
Edit: I see you do! I use an FFB2 and Saitek pedals with a Warthog throttle. If you ever want to use your FFB2 in Arma again, here's a tip. You can turn on xinput in the control config to disable FFB in Arma (interestingly enough there are actually some sporadic FFB effects, though they're not really predictable in a useful sense). Then use vJoy or some other input emulator to get your FFB2 working again. Then download simFFB - http://www.filedropper.com/simffb64 - to enable custom FFB effects that you can control yourself e.g. you can disable the centering effect and add a hydraulic effect instead.

Add this to your mission. To call the explosion you need to use this code.
0 = [obj_01] execVM "nuke\nuke.sqf"; playSound "nuke"; obj_01 setDamage 1; },"BIS_fnc_spawn"] call BIS_fnc_MP; 0 = [obj_01] execVM "nuke\nuke_damage.sqf";
Where obj_01 is the object that you want to be a nuke. Can be anything. And this should be called from the server.
Funny you mention it. I had originally set out to do that before I made this video.
Here's a 24 hour timelapse of Chernarus and Takistan using 30 minute timesteps. I figured it would be cool to use these with a program like Wallpaper Master to change the wallpaper every 30 minutes, giving you a nice indication of the time throughout your day.

Apologies for compressing each series. Mega really didn't like uploading so many high resolution images as individual files.
It's going to be a mixture of your cpu and servers you play on. Having a look here: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
Arma relies heavily on single core performance so some people could have an i7 for example but if its single thread is bad it wont run arma well (obviously that's not your fault but still).
That being said I have a FX-8350 which is only a few points above yours, I get between 30-50 fps on multiplayer, I really only play on private servers with the unit I run, the server is not great by any means, but the missions we run are not junk filled with scripts. There are barely any "realism" public servers, most of the stuff that is out there is wasteland koth etc etc these are all filled to the brim with script and will make your fps drop like a tank and there is no other way around that than don't play those game modes or get a different CPU.
Another culprit is Altis, it can kill frames quite a bit especially with all the other stuff going on, try some games on Stratis.
Apart from that I can only suggest the usual of tweaking your settings more and more to squeeze more frames out.
If your heart is set on playing wasteland/koth I would recommend looking at the CHIMERA servers, these are run by Dwarden from bohemia I believe and run some in-progress fixes to try and make things run better.
According to the intel website your CPU has a clockspeed f 2.7 GHZ which is just a bit more than the minimum system requirements. Your GPU should also be fine. Now will you be able to run Arma 3? Yes. Will it run terribly well? I highly doubt so, given the game already suffers a few optimization issues.
I highly recommend checking out this website, just enter the game, click autodetection and it will tell you if you can run it.
You should check the FaceTrackNoIR website. Bug Ticket #25
>I have used facetracknoir in arma 3 since I started playing the game on a regular bases after its official launch.
>Since the recent Arma 3 v1.4 update, I have been unable to get facetrack to even register in the game. I have tried all usual methods such as reinstall etc but it is still not working.
>FT still works well with all the other games that I use it on but Arma 3 refuses to detect facetrack at all.
>I was hoping somebody else has had this problem recently and has found a workaround.
This ticket has been open since March 2015.
Most servers have the mission name in their servername, so I just look for those. The mission column is only good for finding official game modes such as Warzone or Patrol Ops.
Since the ARMA server browser can be slow at times, check out gametracker. It's a third party gameserver crawler that has been around forever and provides an index. https://www.gametracker.com/search/?query=liberation
Playercount > 5 is okay with this gamemode. Not ideal but hey just spam AI rambos ;)
Well then, do part one of my response and go crazy on the mods.
There are several mods that have sets of scripts geared towards making mission making easier. Sorta of like this
Yo dawgs, I heard you like ArmA II giveaways.

MSI Afterburner allows you to change the speed of GPU fans, and also monitor GPU temps.
OpenHardwareMonitor watches basically every single temp, from CPU to GPU to harddrives.
You don't ping with Arma - you need to use Windows Command Prompt.
The 'hosts' file is a plaintext list of domains and IP addresses that over-rides whatever DNS you are using. A corrupted or incorrectly configured file can cause problems.
Deleting it is not a problem as Windows will automatically recreate it on the next system boot. If in doubt, you can always back it up by moving it to a different folder.
IP Config renew makes your computer request new connection details from your router, and can mitigate some issues like IP conflicts where two or more devices have the same IP.
I've heard good things about Nuclear Fallout Servers.
Personally, I prefer to use general-purpose enterpise cloud hosting rather than specialized arma/game server hosting. I'm currently using Digital Ocean's $0.03/hr tier for my Arma server. It's working fine for our 12-player missions, but I'm not sure how well it scales up. Other popular options are RamNode, Linode, 6sync and Amazon Web Services (although Digital Ocean is probably the cheapest option for a 24/7 single server.)
Another advantage to enterprise hosting is many providers charge by the hour, so if you only play scheduled games you could coceivably only run your server when you need it and pay a fraction of the price.
>The most distinctive game type in Arma 3 Zeus, however, is ‘Zeus Game Master’. Here, Game Masters are entirely free to create objectives, spawn units, and steer players across Arma 3’s massive Altis and Stratis terrains.
Squad isn't Arma... why post it here?
What's next, Red Orechestra 2 or Ground Branch videos start getting posted? People who like the gameplay of Arma might like either of those!
Maybe we should start linking Kingdom Come videos because you know some BI devs who worked on Arma are helping make it so it's now totally relevant for /r/Arma.
lol
Arma 3 is designed to run on PCs, both client and server. There is nothing about its operation that could be improved by DevOps.
>There is a surprising lack of modules for game severs in general.
Gee, might that be because of copyright, trademark and licensing issues? Or the fact that each game server is unique and run/customized by a very small group of people, many of whom have only basic server and networking skills, if any.
Arma's less IT-skilled server owners often use TADST but regular Windows and Linux server skilled people work out their own tools for monitoring the physical server hardware (if they have control), the OS (if they have control) and the Arma 3 instance. You need an RCON compatible app like BattleMetrics.com to read the server data stream, and your favorite SFTP app to upload mods and other files to the server. If your Arma server is persistent, an application like FireDaemon pays for itself in reduced labor. Any other necessary tools are dependent on the type of Arma server you run and the OS. AFAIK, Linux doesn't have much in the way of game server support but then again, most issues are with Arma itself and Linux self-selects for people who are already gurus.
Caching is kernel level, part of the virtual memory system. Cached pages are frequently not considered "in use" because they're largely disposable - they contain data that might be used in future, but which can be easily recycled for other use when needed (i.e. when the pool of free pages is getting low).
Case in point: Resource Monitor on Win 7 after playing some Crysis 2 breaks my memory down as "5746MB In Use, 77MB Modified, 11061MB Standby, 1536MB Free" - most of that Standby memory is cache, with the 1.5GB free largely coming from what used to be Crysis 2's private memory. Unless I ask specifically for an all-inclusive count, any monitoring app is going to say I'm using 5.7GB, not 16.7GB, right?
You might find the FreeBSD Architecture Handbook's VM section interesting if you'd like more depth on this sort of thing. Most memory there is similarly split between Active (In Use), Inactive (Standby) and Free.
This might not be of much help to you and sadly I dont know of any easy way to do what you need with fraps but if you record with OBS then you can enable a noise gate for the microphone so it cuts out anything below a certain threshold much like how voice activation works in TS3.
If you use a PTT for TS3 then its easy as Fraps, Dxtory, OBS etc. support only recording microphone audio when the hotkey is pressed so just set that to the same thing as you are already using in TS3.
I
You can use Voicemeeter. The free version will work. You set one input to your actual microphone and the other input to one of the virtual outputs it adds. Then set the output of whatever application will be playing to one of the virtual output devices. Lastly, make make your default input device one of the virtual input devices.
You can change the filters manually by editing the mission files. You can also easily use the FXAA injector an apply your own filter.
Last but not least, downsampled and filtered pictures unfortunately do not show off what the engine can do, but rather how good you are at taking screenshots. The VR Engine needs hoards of work. Bohemia has had a decade to produce a competent engine.
AWS works a little differently, the prices page is https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/
A C3.large instance has a >3 Ghz Intel CPU and then you end up paying for the amount of drive space, bandwidth and other things separately all by the hour. You'll need to work it out based on your usage, as a basic rule you'll be paying for at least 40GB of storage for your OS image and game install (maybe 70Gb if a lot of mods are used) and then the rest depends on your community. We run ours mostly just 6 hours a week and bandwidth is low enough we don't go past the 1TB we get. But your mileage will definitely vary.
triple checked, it's not there. the server is totally vanilla, non modified, only that it's located in Brazil and it says revolution servers, i've been playing for a couple of months now, and nothing weird happened that's the server
Address: 189.69.69.101 Port: 2302

If you have not done so already go through all the training missions so you understand as much as you can about the game. If you can't complete the campaign then you aren't going to be able to do well in any multiplayer server. If I was you then I would start with some simple game modes that you are going to be able to get practice with the AI in. If the AI is too easy for you, up the difficulty. On servers they are usually set pretty low so you should be trying to play with AI in singleplayer. The Dynamic Universal War System is a good thing to help get you started with the game so I would try that once you have the rest down.
Edit: This server might also be a good place to start.
I usually play on Sa-Matra versions of wasteland. Its toned down quite a bit in that you can't buy any armoured vehicles or save money in a bank. You find vehicles by completing specific missions. Also the store only has a few weapons and items that are randomized every hour or so.
It's pretty fun on smaller maps like Stratis. Here's a pretty popular server along with the #2 version of it:
https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/74.91.126.212:2302/server_variables/
75th/RRC runs a Kunduz Insurgency server. Population can vary but on good nights there's 10+ people.
The server requires a few mods in addition to Kunduz including RHS:USAF and TFAR. You'll have to check the server out for the others.
I help manage an Epoch server. Every single server FPS we can gain matters as even with good hardware (Xeon E3-1271v3) we struggle to push 12-15 FPS @ 90 players. While I understand there are some built in limitations to Epoch, tuning vanilla Arma performance is inherently key to better Epoch performance.
What type of performance improvement are we to realistically expect running this binary and what types of optimizations have been made?
Actually you do not need to be a part of a squad neither do you need mods IF you have OK ping to EU servers. I have played for weeks now on 77th JSOC public servers running Invade & Annex (popular COOP mission) and the server seniors + clan members actively police and enforce command structure.
For example only squad leaders are able to call chopper lifts and no lone wolfs are allowed to leave the base and this all happens in public atmosphere where people are total strangers to each other. I would really recommend checking them out.
Small little workaround is to look up the server you want on gametracker then paste the IP and port manually in ARMA via the "remote" button in the ARMA server browser.
I guess I wasnt clear enough. You CAN make them however good you like. Just putting down enemies in the editor, doesnt really do much. Everything is controlled by scripts. Our public server uses an extremely good AI with vanilla scripts. Both skill improved scripts as well as behaviour. It is very common with 500-600 meter firefights. Any ranges above that is usually stupid since you miss almost everything, but AI can shoot at those ranges as well. If we talk about snipers specifically, you generally want to customize these AI in particular. At which point, again, you can set it with the commandline I just gave.
Our server for reference; https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/94.23.250.120:2322/
Just the ones I usually hop on :
https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/198.144.177.210:2302/ http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/66.151.244.249:151/
Those are typically full. The ST3 server actually requires me to spam join since its usually full, though they have another server I like playing on as well
Ok, so after trials on my $9 Amazon test (http://www.amazon.com/Zeadio%C2%AE-Throat-Headset-Samsung-Blackberry/dp/B00EV27QJG/) mic I can report the following:
At the end of the day I went back to the hat-mounted mic. If I replaced it with a higher-end one, I'd bet the majority of my sound complaints would go away. In the end I opted to pass as the design was uncomfortable for any period of time.
Depending on your definition of "semi" and "too often", the unit I'm part of might be to your liking.
We play Tuesdays and Sundays 7:30PM to 9:30PM GMT, is Europe based, and "semi" serious in that we aim for serious, immersive, effective but most importantly FUN play, but place little to no requirements on said skills in each player. You can be a total newbie and that's cool. As long as you're will to try to learn and try your best.
We expect members to attend at least one of those playsessions per week, that they have a microphone, can speak english, and is at least 15 years old. We also have some policies against swearing and other rude behavior that we expect you to adhere to.
We also allow non-members to attend our practices as guests if they want to check us out. Those are also expected to follow the policies, but more leniency is given if it's their first time and don't know the policies yet.
We're roughly 50 members and play mostly battalion size COOP custom missions we've made ourselves, on veteran difficuly (so 3rd person allowed).
Feel free to check us out at The Art of Warfare! Or send me a PM here and I'll help you out.
Edit: Should probably mention that The Art of Warfare(TAW for short) as a whole is a pretty large international gaming community (2500 members right now), with units for about 25 games or so. We have two Arma units - one US based and one EU based. If you follow that link you get to TAWs main website, where you can find out all kinds of stuff about us. Figured I'd mention that since you might be confused otherwise. :)
I have the SAITEK EVO very pleased with it, and have been for years tbh.... especially like the fact its adjustable to your hand as i have big ass hands ...
It should work if you let it create the folders and then move them to your drive and create hard links for the directories. Not 100% it will work but you can try it. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ I've used this method of hardlinking to sync things to dropbox before so it should work.
Add it to a wishlist over on IsThereAnyDeal.com and get an alert when it next goes on sale. During the summer sale it was discounted by 30% so I would expect it to drop by that amount, if not more, during the Steam winter sale.
Yeah you can reach 7GHZ if you cool it with liquid nitrogen. So unless you want to go around beating world records and spending huge amounts of money you wont get 7ghz xD.
As for arma performance its all based around single core performance and from the benchmarks its performance is just a bit lower than the i7 7700k. So if you want to get a pc/cpu just for playing arma it can work but realistically a pc can benefit greatly from at least an i5 for multi tasking/having several applications running at the same time.
EDIT: used cpubenchmark (pass mark) for getting the results
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-7350K+%40+4.20GHz
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-7700K+%40+4.20GHz&id=2874
Does the Mac match the minimum requirements? because my PC does, at least according to SystemRequirementsLab.
GIMP is a good open source photoshop alternative, but the color adjustment is kind of awkward. There are a few ok Lightroom alternatives, but I haven't used them. Of course if you want to pay for adobe creative cloud that would be better.
Sometimes there are flash sales which increase the discounts. Usually it's best to wait through the sale and see, and pick it up on the last day if not. This site will show you the record low and link you to a few other very useful sites for finding deals.
See if you can totally wipe all the drivers, I used this http://download.cnet.com/Driver-Fusion/3000-2086_4-75748005.html
Then, get the new drivers direct from the website, hopefully it'll have a clean install option. I'd try to install from safe mode if you can. I had to do this once before when I pushed my clocks too high and thought I bricked my card. Let me know how you go if you don't mind.
Take a look on IsThereAnyDeal.com. It will show you the best prices for Arma 3 across multiple online stores. You can also create waitlists/alerts for games based on price and/or percentage drops.

Your processor is weak, Arma relies on processors with high IPC, which are mainly modern Intel CPUs from Sandy Bridge and up.
Here is your CPU Passmark score, note the single thread performance rating. Here is a modern Intel CPU (I chose one that cannot be overclocked for more accurate numbers.) These numbers don't directly translate to in game FPS but it gives you an idea of why your game is running slow. Arma isn't a twitch shooter that renders a small map and some hitscan weapons. It's played in a large area with dynamic ballistics simulation, vehicles, and very high player counts with dynamic AI support. Expecting high FPS is just not in the cards for this game.
40-60 FPS is attainable with a modern Intel CPU and missions that aren't overloaded with scripts and AI though.
Well the 2600k has slightly higher benchmark scores http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp%5B%5D=2599&cmp%5B%5D=868
But you do realize they need different motherboards and ram? they're not interchangeable.
The 2600k is like 5 years old now, i wouldn't recommend it.
I guess I'm not saying not to purchase the game. I'm just letting you know there will be problems with MP. BUY THE GAME for sure as there are still a multitude of mods you can play. Steam will save the game for when you have a better system. did I say BUY THE GAME?!!!! try "Can I Run It" @ http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
You can use the free and open source Blender program. It's what BI uses.
You may want to begin with the Modelling section of the Arma 3 official forum or Discord channels.
I'm on Version 347.25 of Nvidia drivers. It causes artefacting on certain weapons, but at least the game is playable.
I've never uploaded a DX Diag before. I uploaded it here but it has been a while since I crashed. If you need a more recent one let me know. Also apologies on the shitty file sharing website.
The tech support at Bohemia Interactive sent me a link to a thread that basically said voltage overclock your PC to fix it , so I'm a bit salty about this whole thing.
If you go and download this, these are the files I used to make this. You can open the editor, load the map you want to play on, save with nothing in there, then navigate to the folder it is saved to in My Documents then paste the scripts in there. Now load up the mission in the editor again and move the stuff to where you would like it.
Well price point, you need combined operations for dayz mod and that's about $25 on steam right now. Arma 3 is $44 for a global steam key on G2A still more money but cheaper than the $60 it is on steam. If you're patient it has been going on sale lately so you might catch it 50% off. As far as performance. You should be fine. I run 4690k at stock, a 2GB R7850 and 8 GB of 1600 ram and the game auto selected ultra and ran fairly well but I turned it down to very high to avoid some of those FPS drops.
A2 is fun and dayz mod is great but like some of the other redditors mentioned, you'll probably get more use in the long run from A3 and there's also breaking point mod, not dayz but same idea sort of. Plus a plethora of other mods(epoch(which is NOT dayz epoch but made by the same devs), A3L, wasteland...)
The main thing for the cpu is single thread performance. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html The higher on that chart the better. You won't need more than 2048 MB of ram per server so over 4GB should be ok.
I will say you could expect to get anything in between 1 and 25 fps...
AMD Phenom II X4 810 is rated at 3222 on cpubenchmark. I had a Q9400 since not too long ago rated at 3422 with the base clock of 2.6GHz, but I overclocked it up to 3.4GHz. Together with a GTX670 and 8GB of Ram I was getting everything between 2 and 35 fps, with an average of 15-20fps.
The game is great, but damn it sucks at optimization...
Not really at the moment, I do stream anytime I'm developing at https://www.twitch.tv/dipdipsett however. The project at this point is very near an initial release build however, and if I get enough time this week I will try and roll it out this weekend so I can start getting bug reports from the masses. If 1.58 is imminent I may wait for that to release to make sure there aren't any gamebreakers in the patch.
Between 90 and 100 degrees. It works something like a camera lens. Small FoV, more telephoto. Large FoV, more wideangle headed towards fisheye (where the horizon and vertical lines are no longer straight). Arma 3 default is 70 degrees to balance ability to see distant objects with a decent number of pixels and maintain situational awareness to your sides for a 4:3 monitor which may have been the majority of monitors in the alpha days.
Edit the file with a text editor like Notepad++
Here is the GT link, should have all the info you need, tanks for taking the time to take a look for me! Could juat be the fact that I'm on the same network.
That shit shouldn't happen to you, gaming is for everyone. Find a server with active admins and adults, typically not KOTH servers. If you can stomach gigabytes of custom mods and a complex mission: https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/216.161.14.170:2302/
If you ask for help there plenty of good folks there, many parent gamers and working professionals.
Russian Railways mod dev just confirmed, they will add support for Tanoa narrow-gauge railway
Not sure what the issue could be other than accidentally clicking LMB outside of said window (full window mode) on multiple monitors.
If it keeps happening, you may want to use/try out this nifty program and set your arma 3 gaming window to limit the mouse movement to the gaming monitor only whilst in full screen windowed mode. Else you could just revert arma 3 to full screen mode (which will also lock your mouse to the gaming window until you alt + tab out of it).
-soul.
It is pretty weird. In the steam data base are two unkown entries for arma 3 beside the allready released dlcs. One beeing the Marksman DLC and the other one im not sure....It coudl be the new island or this somehow mysterious new chernarus perspective. Beside all this the BI Store mentioned that it is a store exclusive so i just ahve no fuckin clue....
https://steamdb.info/app/107410/dlc/
Personally i would like a coorperation between ARMA 3 and DAYZ so ARMA 3 players could play Chernarus+ and something for the dayz players.
edit: 1 hours 18 minutes left
https://www.g2a.com/arma-iii-steam-cd-key-global.html I bought it for 25 euro. Now its for 29 euro. It's out of stock now but don't worry i had to wait for 30 mins before it was in stock. Used paypal. Got my key in 5 minutes. No registration needed. Fast and simple.
Yes, it’s still terrible at multi-threading. Here is what I would do.
Install VMware ESXi Free as they base OS
Create VMs with 2 CPUs for each server. Ubuntu LTS for the OS and use LGSM for the Arma install.
Create VMs for headless clients to take advantage of any remaining CPU cores.
