There's a video where you can see a closer view of the bowl at the beginning, it's hard to tell what's in there but it would be way too much food for a dog that size (though small for a donkey). Maybe it was supposed to be a treat/extra nutrients for the donkey?
Edit: This video is a little longer and shows the person filming shooing the dog away from the bowl at one point.
The best kind of pepper spray to get is a dyed pepper spray, so the asshole owners can’t deny it was their dog or try to conceal it, as they often do.
Always record them, so even if they take the dog back inside, you have evidence.
Also, I’m a huge fan of pepper spray with dye. While it wouldn’t always stop an attack, it would at least make it impossible for the asshole owner to try and conceal the dog after. No matter how much they rinsed it or whether they take it to the vet after, that dye is going to be there for days and would help police locate the dog even if they do a pit and run.
Not even a real thing.
My complex is also “dog-friendly”, and although they say they have breed restrictions, every other dog seems to be a pit “mix”.
If you ask someone if they have pets, you can usually figure out if they’re a doggy nut or not. I usually get answers like, “no pets aren’t my thing”, “no but I really really want a [specific dog breed]”, or “yes I ruined my life with a puppy”.
Actually no. You copied my design that I worked hard on. My design is here. I know I'm not supposed to paste links but what you did is NOT OKAY. https://www.amazon.com/Sorry-Hate-Your-Dog-T-Shirt/dp/B07P9WBGHN/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=hate+your+dog&qid=1551453869&s=apparel&sr=1-3
Get one of these bad boys. Now THIS works like a charm. I can step over it if I don't want to open the gate, but it keeps the dog out while my cat can walk through fine. To me, 40 bucks is totally worth keeping my carpet and bed free from dog hair.

> fuck your "hypoallergenic" dog. I happen to be allergic to those as well (as are many other people!) and some dog owners refuse to believe me.
This is because there is literally no such thing as a "hypoallergenic" dog breed. I don't know where this nonsensical idea came from. I wouldn't put it past the multibillion dollar dog industry.
I've known people who have constant allergy problems who are, yup, dog nuts, and can't put 2 and 2 together, no matter how competent they generally seem, and realize the "hypoallergenic" dog they got was bullshit. I've literally heard a woman go, "These allergies are going to kill me! I'm on 5 meds for it already and am at the end of my rope. I have NO idea what it is. It can't be my dog, he's hypoallergenic!" It's like sitting in a sandbox and being all, "Why are my clothes so dirty? This sand is non dirty! It says so on the box!"
It's a dog. Some dogs may shed less than others, or are smaller than others, or have less of a tendency for their dander to become quite as bad as others, but they are still dogs. They are not magic.

I haven't had to use it yet, thankfully - but I've literally only had it a couple of days. But if you go here: https://www.amazon.com/SABRE-3-Pepper-Spray-Protection/dp/B0007VM8UC/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_200_lp_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WY7CTYWMK8W7E1Q95G94 and search for dogs in the reviews, you'll see it has worked on dogs plenty of times. That's why I bought it. Here's hoping.
Shit, just get this: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-DaKuan-Reusable-Chocolate-Dishwasher/dp/B07F5GXSJL
Still stupid, but not disgusting. But still stupid. But hygienic at least.
Have you seen this Ryan Reynolds interview with a Youtuber? https://hooktube.com/watch?v=cr5z8YSIJds
It's one of the cringiest things ever. Ryan's obviously creeped out and annoyed by the interviewer's over-the-top IMMAYOUTUBER persona. The interviewer clearly expected him to be DEADPOOL!!! rather than an actor who is a normal, down-to-earth person.
I remember watching this episode a long time ago. Not surprised to see people still giving her crap for that episode even today. Cesar has the money/space to add people's dogs to his collection, so that he doesn't have to look like he failed. I'm guessing this woman doesn't want a herd of shitty dogs. Can't blame her.
Cesar's personal dogs are not even very well behaved. Fast forward to 43 minutes into this video and you can see some of his dogs wanting to fight with his client's dogs, and he himself claimed all of his dogs wanted to get in on the fight.
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5cycvr
A little earlier in that video, he claims his husky was just about to bite the client's dog on the back/neck, and acts excited about it, like it is great that his dog views smaller ones as prey.
I wonder how many dogs he has actually hurt but since he makes everyone sign an NDA they can't speak out about it. I'd be pissed if an animal trainer put my small pet in with a much larger one that has a history of trying to kill smaller animals.
What some people will put up with on those shows can be insane. I remember one guy had some dogs that had already caused like $20,000 in damage to his house or something around that.
please don't say that you're stuck with it for 10+ years, i think that will do nothing but dampen your spirit. i totally agree with MiddleFroggy and SpiritofJosefa - you can rehome him easily. you can post it on Nextdoor , i see plenty of dog adoption related posts over there. I donno about Facebook though, since I detest FB w/a passion.
Now get up and energize yourself to rehome the dog. umm...DO it! 😀
Does your neighbor live closer or farther than 50 feet from you? I swear by these and it made our terrible dog and the neighbors annoying dogs stop barking! I know the reviews aren’t amazing but they work SO well!!! I’m surprised at the reviews anti dog barking device
The vest is essentially meaningless. Anyone can order one on Amazon for 25 bucks.
Likewise. I've been using this white noise machine for several years. Saved my sanity!
The problem with a lot of the nutters is that they simply don't see why someone would have an issue with their furbaby taking a tinkle on someone else's lawn even if you do have a sign up asking people to keep their dogs off your lawn.
I don't get why they don't let them piss/shit in their own lawn or just take them to one of the many dog parks that seem to be everywhere but that's another topic.
One of my friends down South in nutter city had a major issue with finding shit in her yard and patches of dead grass from where people had let their dogs pee all over her yard. She replaced her "Please keep your dog off the grass" with these :
https://www.amazon.com/SmartSign-Aluminum-Treated-Pesticides-Graphic/dp/B00HKAE8NI
She doesn't use pesticides but the dog walkers don't know that and she has had a lot less trouble with people letting their dogs go near her lawn. Just get one or two of those, place them prominently and if you see a nutter coming onto your yard with their dog warn them that it's covered in poisonous pesticides. That'll chase them off.
Think about it. A person who walks around behind a 4-legged varmint waiting for it to take a dump, stands there and watches and then reaches down and picks up what is ofen a huge, steaming pile of crap has to be a coprophiliac. This more than anything else proves there's something seriously wrong with dog-owners. Even those who don't pick it up still stand there and watch. These people are SICK!
This book exists. So yeah, people think dogs can cure depression. Except…there’s no actual evidence they do.
That would depend on the allergist. I had to go through a lot to get allergy shots. Allergists vary a lot in how flexible they are and what they're willing to do for you. An earlier allergist didn't want to bother with my difficulties and kicked me off the shots when I didn't tolerate them well.
But I found a better allergist, and I increase the doses of the shots very slowly, much more slowly than their standard schedule.
I'm in a somewhat similar boat to you, from what I understand - very limited by my dog/cat allergy, because dogs and cats are everywhere. And even if there isn't an actual dog or cat, many people who have dog/cat on their clothes.
And allergy shots are the only actual solution to it around.
I wear a full-face respirator with HEPA filters when away from home, but that's only a coping mechanism that helps some.
It's also illegal to neuter and spay children since it would take away their right to reproduce, but it's heavily encouraged to neuter and spay dogs. Also, if a pet owner no longer wants their pet, they can return it to the shelter or sell it online such as on https://www.craigslist.org/. It's illegal to get rid of children like that.
this is an astute comment. I looked up the news article and the dog was returned to the owner who has to pay for the car and received a warning.
It really sucks for the cats but this was probably the best way of handling it.
I recently watched the documentary Of Dogs and Men that focuses on cops + dog shootings which gives a nice even perspective and while this dog was being aggressive, when you see what other types of cases cops are in, you realize this was one of the best ways to handle it to prevent risk of bullet ricochets or amping up the aggression (the only other solution I might have wanted to see was the cop asking the woman for a leash and just seeing if he could get the dog on the leash).

I have a set of those ear protection safety muffs that construction workers/jackhammer operators wear. I bought mine on Amazon (Canada). You can check the decibel level that they can block out and see if they work for you, at least during days when you want relief.
Here’s an example of what they look like (this one is 35db):
https://www.amazon.ca/headphones-Effective-Protection-Adjustable-Protecting/dp/B09JFWJM6M/
Perhaps a pair of these can help you and you can find a pair locally if not available at Amazon (US)?
I posted a link for something that might work for you! I’ll post it here too. Hope it helps! doghornXL
You might want to consider setting up one of these on your porch.
Or just search up "sonic dog bark deterrent" on Amazon, that one was highly rated. Says it works up to 15 metres. Dunno if the mutt is further away than that, but it might help!
I've carried pocket knives my whole life and in like the past decade one handed deployable ones have really become commonplace. If I had to choose one for all-around performance at a cheap price that was also the exact right size to garrote a pitbul it would be the Rat I
I think I want to carry one of those ultrasonic whistles at this point so dogs will take the hint and stay far away.
Idk if it would help, but someone on Nextdoor in my neighborhood recently posted about a similar issue and another person suggested getting a sign like this for their yard. They seemed to have some luck with it.
That sounds awful and you shouldn't have to listen to that. Maybe try putting one of these in your yard?anti bark birdhouse
I second this. OP could also carry an air horn to blast that beast and its owner with deafening sound when they get rowdy. The horn will scare the shit out of the dog without harming it physically. There is a good chance that the noise will train the beast to stay clear of OP in the future. If the owner gets pissed that's a plus.
The other night we had a pretty intense windstorm. My gutter got ripped from the roof, but was still hanging on a little bit, and all night long was banging against the side of my master suite. It sounded like percussion cymbals crashing all night long. Luckily, I pulled this analogue white noise generator out of storage to at least get us through the night. The tone and volume are adjustable. It was a game changer.
ALSO, if it's anything less-determined than a shepard/pittie/rottwieler, then I can also personally vouch that cattle prods work GREAT, with the added bonus of putting a little distance between you and the beast.
A good jolt to the face from one of these will deter almost anything:
https://www.amazon.com/VETPLUS-Livestock-Electric-Rechargeable-Flexible/dp/B09Q3FRZCZ/
The trouble is that none of these are going to work against all dogs in all situations. So they get bad reviews over time and the sellers make new listings to escape them. My personal experience is that it worked very well on larger dogs but not the little yappy one. I had good luck with one like this. Give it a couple weeks for the dog to catch on.
Your neighbor letting this mutt roam around the halls in a building is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
I would complain to the building owners every day until something is done.
Even so, You have a right to not be jumped on by a dog. I would start by yelling really loud at the dog, which might train it to keep away from you
If that doesn't work, get a small air horn like this one, that produces an incredibly loud noise, and use it as soon as the dog approaches
Or try a squirt gun filled with cold water.
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Boss Baby, here are some Trailers
I had one like this. I had a cheaper one before that, which also worked but it broke after a while. None of these are going to have great reviews for long because they don't work on all dogs. It worked on my neighbors pitbulls after about a week, but the chihuahua didn't stop. But still, even the chihuahua barked less often because the pitbulls weren't getting it worked up with their barking. After a few weeks I didn't need to have it on all the time. And if I turn it on now they shut up immediately.
It was like this one. It seems like the manufacturers occasionally remove it from amazon and re-list the same product under another name after enough bad reviews. It doesn't work on all dogs and can take a couple weeks to be effective.
In my neighborhood, it's leaf blowers that are the bane more than dogs, but the anxiety, anger, and frustration at an uncontrollable audio assault is very much something I relate to. If you're on the Spectrum or otherwise have a noise sensitivity, this sh*t is physically painful too.
My first go-to: https://mynoise.net/ Incredible range of sound blockers developed by a Ph.D. in Belgium. Some of these might be of help with retraining thoughts too. Maybe mix in the neighborhood dog barks with farm sounds or droning tones to slowly give them more "peaceful" associations? Don't know, just putting the thought out there. If you make even a small donation, there's even more to the site, available for all time.
Second go-to: "Calmer" flare earplugs. For me at least, they really do take the edge off the worst offenders. Not a complete solution for things right next to you, but can help with reducing that tense-body flight-flight response.
Good luck. There is a special place in hell for loud, inconsiderate neighbors.
your boss is an idiot. those service vests can be ordered directly from amazon by anybody without any check in place.it’s relatively cheap too
That’s awful. This may or may not be helpful, but it helped my mood somewhat to invest a ridiculous amount of money in noise canceling headphones.
Some days, when I just can’t take the barking, the ability to put on these headphones for 30 minutes to get some quiet was honestly the difference between me having a nervous breakdown versus me being able to tolerate barking in my complex.
I found some pink Bose headphones on sale and absolutely love them (They were $230 at the time just because they were pink. The gray and black were much more expensive. It was very stupid and awesome for me). https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NXDPLJ9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Seems like the same product is ridiculously expensive now ($370), but if you stalk it, it could possibly go on sale. Over the holidays.
Again- headphones certainly aren’t a fix it. Theyre basically impossible to fall asleep with. It doesn’t block all noise- just most of it. (Especially bad at blocking low tones, like bass music, btw). It doesn’t get rid of the irritation at you having to change your life around a disrespectful neighbors dog. But it could maybe help a little.
Do NOT fight fire with fire. You will then lose 100% sympathy from any authority. Look up ordinances. Turn them in or file a complaint with the local authorities.
Keep a journal of the barking, the times it starts, it stops, how it is impacting you in the moment. Record it every once in awhile and make note of date/time (usually the recording device will do this). This will help make your case should you go to arbitration or court. Or just in speaking with the authorities.
Try to talk to them civilly, if you feel you can. Ask other neighbors if they are bothered by the noise. There is power in numbers. You may have allies in this.
Also, do they have a permit to run a dog rescue from their house? Find out. Is your neighborhood zoned for a dog rescue business?
Invest in one of these: https://www.amazon.com/YC%C2%B0-Control-Ultrasonic-Deterrents-Adjustable/dp/B09JNG7XCS/ref=sr\_1\_14?dchild=1&keywords=Dog+barking&qid=1635464107&sr=8-14
Or a similar item. Worth a try. They work very well for some breeds.
Yeah I don't feel it's offensive and the more I'm learning about it the more I'm understanding parts of myself. I'm reading this book at the moment, which comes highly recommended.
Dog whistles, and ultrasonic bark stoppers should work fine inside your apartment or house
Bear in mind, if you have cats or other animals, they will be affected
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyCTYVu6Ecw
there are many like that on the market
This is just a random example: https://www.amazon.com/Bark-Control-Pro-Humanely-Neighbors/dp/B01K0NXC7O/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=ultrasonic+dog+silencer&qid=1607454211&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRkdVUUNVN1k1NFIwJmVuY3J5cHRlZ...
There are many, many options available, each with a different range. I had a cheap one (I think I paid less than $20) that had a range of about 20 feet.
Is this something that can help those of us who feel we have the right not to have to live with this?
https://www.amazon.com/Acme-Dog-Whistle-535-Silent/dp/B010O0B3N8
Has anyone tried this or known anyone who has? Maybe spending a little time wailing on this thing until a dog shuts the hell up could bring future silence.
Man, really sorry about the fact the owners dgaf. Sounds like they are miserable people who likely know their dogs are terrible, and they are driven mad by them, but they decide to be assholes that just don't deal with their issue and thus make everyone else suffer.
White noise machines in every room... I personally like a mechanical one called a Dohm that I have used for years when I have lived in noisy places (though I cannot claim to know if they work with barking). I like because it is a mechanical vs. digital sound, and it has two settings, the louder of which is pretty loud.
https://www.amazon.com/Marpac-Classic-White-Noise-Machine/dp/B000KUHFGM
If it's possible... try to think about moving... on some level dealing with shitty neighbors truly does ruin quality of life.
They probably means which brand. If you google "anti bark birdhouse amazon" there are actually quite a lot of them.
https://www.amazon.com/Birdhouse-Ultrasonic-Anti-Bark-Controller-Deterrent/dp/B076LS9QYN
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L9B5JYU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_j6XIFbT51S2P8
These should be replacing pet dogs everywhere. Especially for the elderly. And when you read the reviews the dog people basically admit that these serve the same purpose as a real dog (comforting humans and emotional support) without any of the expense or undertaking. It's like wow if only these simps could connect the dots that for a fraction of the cost they could get the same effect as they get from their drooling robo barking "esa" But it's good enough for senile granny. Not for them they need a real foofums
Honestly I think an adult human might have an easier time dispatching a pitbull with a decent sized pocket knife.
First of all, let’s be honest, you’re not going to be quick enough to shoot a dog coming at you. What if it’s coming at kids? What if it’s biting them? No way you can risk a shot.
There are videos of pitbulls getting shot multiple times and not letting go but I think if you could slit or stab it in the throat that would take care of things pretty quickly. It’s so easy to carry a one hand opening blade everywhere nowadays since they have pocket clips. For $25 you can get a Kershaw or gerber that would do the job.
You could try one of these
https://www.amazon.com/Ortz-Dog-Whistle-Stop-Barking/dp/B0159CHOL6
Humans can't hear the sound, but dogs apparently hate it, so every time the dog barks, you blow on the whistle, and it should eventually stop most of the barking in your house
This type of device can help, but any other pets like cats in the same area will be impacted
If their dogs are outside, and not more than 100 feet away, you can buy a dog silencer on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Bark-Control-Pro-Humanely-Neighbors/dp/B01K0NXC7O
these only work line of sight, through a chain link fence, etc
Horns such as these are supposed to work but I haven’t tried them
But you could also have suddenly encountered a child running around. Or a row of people walking side by side. Or a moose :)
A bell doesn't seem like a good answer. Bicyclists are legally required to have a horn or bell in my state, and I do have a good loud horn. But I think of it as an emergency device to signal a car driver who doesn't see me.
Just slow down when you get to a blind curve, and be aware that anything might be right around the bend.
The problem with spraying with water is it gets water on the floor, furniture, etc. To avoid getting things wet, dog owners can use ultrasonic dog deterrents such as https://www.amazon.com/Dog-Dazer-II-Ultrasonic-Deterrent/dp/B000IBRI2Y. They produce a discomforting but not harmful high frequency sound audible to dogs, but not to humans. They can be used to stop unpleasant behaviors in dogs. Also, someone said a can of Pet Corrector from Petco is compressed air that makes a loud hissing sound at https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogfree/comments/8lxbes/why_would_you_bring_your_aggressive_dog_to_work/dzk1j1q/.
The sharpest and meanest defense knife you can buy is the Spyderco Matriarch with Emerson opener - https://www.amazon.com/Spyderco-Matriarch-Spyder-Emerson-Opener/dp/B00AHF6EIU
You clip it inside your pocket and it automatically folds open when pulled out. Compared to a normal blade It absolutely ferocious and will turn a pit bull into cat food. Handle with caution.
They are light and easy to carry. A couple of these clipped into your right and left pocket so either hand could grab in a bad situation would give you a fighting chance against any bad dog that got ahold of you.
If you don’t want to get close the .357 Sig pistol round (also used by the Secret Service) has been field tested by urban police departments to drop most charging dogs with a single shot. The result from shooting pit bulls with common non-magnum rounds like 9mm is unpredictable, they say.
