as long as you're transacting through godaddy.com then you're good to go. insta-acceptance of a counter offer makes me think there's a lot more room on the table. however, i'd also stick to my word and sell at 5k if that's what i asked for. going back and asking for more will cause them to lose trust and possibly walk away from the deal.
If I understood you right, you will need a site builder as well? Maybe take a look at porkbun.com. I don’t see why would you need a higher tier SSL certificate for an art website, so basic should be fine, they include one for free. And at the moment Porkbun offers 3$ .com domains, and their renewals are under 9$. And generally, if your hosting provider gives you ssh access you always can get free SSL certificate at https://letsencrypt.org
you know, I noticed quite a few of the domains are trademark domains. One has NFL. I can't afford to buy the anal lube that I will need when the NFL comes and fucks me over with lawsuits.
I checked many of the threads and I just went to Godaddy.com, namecheap.com , 101domains.com and two more that I can't remember. Those sites said the many of the domains listed on those threads were available.
> has an SSL requirement that I may have to pay for
This is 2020. You should never, under any circumstances, have to pay for SSL: https://letsencrypt.org
Also if you're using Cloudflare as your CDN, it will issue you a free cert at the edge, and if you don't have a server certificate, it will give you an internal cloudflare-signed one to communicate internally.
> (and I'm guessing won't work with GitHub pages? dunno).
Github Pages supports Let's Encrypt out of the box.

That's just marketing, by Google (who runs .dev) and domain registrars. Every domain is "the thing" for something. .xyz is "the thing" for tech projects, millennials, communities, developers, bots, and anything else the marketing team can think up.
Generally speaking, if firstlast.com is available, register it. Don't use GoDaddy. shop around. Use a reputable registrar like Namecheap, Epik, Namesilo, even Google Domains.
Of all the newTLDs, I would trust .dev more than most. Google is not going to suddenly die tomorrow (unlike the folks behind .cyou might).
You can always get both. A .dev should not be more than $15, a .com can be had for $8-9 and if you're being asked to pay more, that's a ripoff.
Disappointed that no one has mentioned Cloudflare, yet. They are some of the biggest security and privacy advocates around. https://www.cloudflare.com/products/registrar/

I've moved the majority of my portfolio, of all the TLD's they support, over to Cloudflare.
I could see what you mean about emails being longer but the SEO of each subdomain should not be a factor. Sites like WordPress.com and Tumblr.com let users create sites off of their main domain without issue. Plus Google's webmaster blog came out a while ago and said Google views each subdomain as a separate website for ranking purposes.
True. https://www.cloudflare.com/registrar-terms/ Part 7.2.
Cloudflare does have some of the fastest and most widespread DNS servers in the market, so it's not like you'd be locked into a poorly performing product.
But if nameserver lock-in is a problem for you, I'd move on to any of my other suggestions.
https://www.cloudflare.com/products/registrar/ is both highly reputable and cheap. I also like Porkbun, Namecheap, Amazon Route 53, and Google Domains - to mention just a handful who will have cheap pricing for all three of those TLDs, and won't treat you badly.
Go to websites like namecheap.com and Flippa to see how much are similar domains selling for. For example if you have the domain: advicewebsite.com you can go to GoDaddy and see domain with the same number of characters and have somewhat similar words. See how much are they selling for and go for that price. If the buyer rejects your offer go halfway. Else if you are comfortable with the price $199 you can sell it for that. :)
I don't know anythong about Tutatona, but it is in their doc:
https://tutanota.com/faq#custom-domains
Basically, your registrar provide you a way to configure the DNS zone of your domaines with the record of your email provider.
Might look at transferring to Cloudflare Registrar. I've been migrating my domains over and have been happy with their service (full disclosure: I used to work there)
See Cloudflare's zero markup offering, I am moving my domains to them when they are close to renewal.
I recommend reading the docs at https://letsencrypt.org/.
THere's a list of official and third-party clients here: https://letsencrypt.org/docs/client-options/, consult the individual repos for documentation.
I would STRONGLY and VEHEMENTLY advise against using any sort of online certificate generator. It has bad idea written all over it.
I personally use acme_tiny (a 250-line-long python implementation) which I automate with cron.
If you want a website you could get hosting. You could also go to wordpress.com and with a domain mapping add-on (or whatever the hell it is called), you could get it for almost free.
https://www.ionos.com/domains/domain-transfer Yeah that probably where I am confuse, it said where I enter the domain it said $1 first year then $15, further down it said free transfer but pay at renewal price? If that then can I just let it expire after wait period then buy at new for $1?
It's yours until the expiration date. One year by default, unless you pay for more. As long as you renew it before it expires (usually this is done automatically, ensure you have auto-renewal switched on for the domain), you won't lose it.
I recommend https://www.namecheap.com/ and http://www.name.com/ over godaddy.
google is clear that all TLDs are treated the same and do not impact SEO rankings. This has been their standing since the inception of new TLDs: https://domains.google/learn/how-to-choose-traditional-vs-new-domain-endings/
That highlighting is something that I did not know. Have to try that later. Thanks. I know people that use Porkbun but I do not use it myself. And the availability thing is strange. It is not a popular domain but I would have expected at least that the a, b and c domains have gone… I also found gandi.net https://www.gandi.net/en/domain/tld/wang but I have never heard of them. They have also the a.wang domain available.
As I explained above, it's just the default parking page for domain.com.
That IP is owned by The Endurance Group, which owns domains.com
You can also see here that your domain is pointing towards that IP.
Just delete the record and put in whatever your webhost says and the domain will then start forwarding to your site.
It's likely a DNS issue. Your mailserver can email out regardless if it has the correct domain name, however most likely it will be treated as spam. You can check your mailservers records here: https://mxtoolbox.com/
Namesilo.com, namecheap.com, or hostinger.com etc. are selling domains at decent price. They are good alternative and pretty inexpensive. Godaddy shoot up prices again n again. Now lots of people switch over to Namecheap and Namesilo.

Again all the replies are about tradutional domain names, but in reality you can have your own domain name without a registrar, I'm sure it's not what OP is looking for, but you guys need to learn more about it, check the opennic project, it's an interesting one https://www.opennic.org/, there are similar projects as well
I’m not sure which businesses are the biggest but Bubble.io has a pretty strong and dedicated following in the nocode world. Marketing is all about going an inch wide and a mile deep right?
I use Carrd, 100 easy setup websites with forms if you like for $99 a year, they have smaller accounts to .. =)
Check them out at https://carrd.co/pro
Perfect for domain websites, make 1 template and then just copy that site to a new site and so on.
